Trump: 2020 and Beyond

What changed? precedent.

Jsut like you are saying “well antifa did it in the summer, so MAGA rioting happening is not really worse”, we run the very real risk of Biden (or whoever) losing in 2024 and the far left violently storming congress to stop that election.

Once precedent is set and accepted, it will be repeated. This is a completely unacceptable precedent to set. The peaceful transfer of power is #1 vital to our country. Without it, we have civil war. Thats one helluva lot worse than reducing the police force by 20% in a city 1000 miles away from you.

No, but it might be time to step off the sidelines and start throwing haymakers.

This has already happened. Mo Brooks has said that Antifa, not Trump supporters were behind the riot:

Of course he has no evidence and his words are straight out of the Trump/Giuliani playbook saying that they’re going to release evidence. Yeah right. If you’ve got something, put it out so we can all know what’s going on. Meanwhile, here are some of the people who have been identified:

Jake Angeli – known by followers as the QAnon Shaman - the douchebag with the horns
Nick Ochs - founder of Proud Boys Hawaii
Richard “Bigo” Barnett - the leader of a pro-gun rights group Gravette, Arkansas
Tim Gionet - white supremist

TBF to me, I was saying the sky isn’t falling then (I am left of center), and I think that is true now. I get your points. I don’t think we were on the verge of not having a transfer of power. We can argue about it being peaceful, but when SCOTUS turned down the PA case it was going to happen.

I do have concerns about how complicit Trumps political loyalists were, and I am more concerned that 70 million Americans made a value judgement that Trump was better than Biden (really you could insert almost any politician here). Perhaps it is just wanting their team to win (which is also sad). Perhaps blame rests on politicians and media for prodding the country into camps, and with camps comes herd thinking.

I don’t think we will win any arguments saying this event by your side was worse than the other by our side. They were both bad. Maybe something is off in me, but these events are not super high on the things I am concerned about list. I’d say the election in GA has a much larger chance of actually impacting me or you, but we are hardly talking about that, and even that is outside our control.

There were good people on both sides, right? JFC.

If Joe Biden dies in office and Kamala takes over and barely loses in 2024, expect motherfucking chaos if we as a country treat yesterday as just another riot and not big deal to our lives.

the fucking president encouraged a violent mob to storm congress and force them to overturn the election. Yes that is insane in every sense. You say that would never happen in a million years. I say these FACTS: Top military and national security officials are advocating martial law to install trump as the victor and tens of millions believe trump rightfully won the election. Trump is not backing down and is still insisting that he won and encouraging supporters to fight on.

Would your life really change much if trump did gain power for 4 more years? Probably not a wholesale shift. so why does that being unlikely even matter to you. nothing matters as long as you aren’t seriously put out by it, right?

I wish I could just drop everything and travel to another state to have some fun but I have a job.

Just be sure to upload a selfie doing it here first.

I don’t want to find out from some 3rd or 4th party this it was you who bounced a cinder block off of a walgreens window and ktfo’d himself in an attempt to take down the system. :joy:

Exactly. It’s harder to dress up like a reindeer or get all your tacticool shit on and travel to a super spreader event when you’ve got work to do and a family to support.

Or maybe they pull a “Man in the Iron Mask” and there’s twin Trumps, a good one and one evil one, and the Trump we have now is replaced by his evil twin. Wooah!

There was an article i read a while back regarding the demographics of the proud boy contigent who parade through PDX. It was mostly middle-upper class white folks, it wasnt the beaten down, scraping by, angry at the system passing them by folks that is the commonly held narrative.

Or the good twin is next up. That’s how he was able to court the world’s dictators! Evil recognizes evil!

I would say bad on both sides.

It should be known by now that I think Trump says crazy shit to rile up the crazies. I don’t necessarily think he is insane, just that he knows how to speak crazy to crazy.

Yesterday I sat at my desk, was on T-nation a bit and did a deadlift workout. I am guessing most people had a routine day. Being a left leaning guy who wants a stimulus check, yesterday was overall a happy day as I think the DEMS taking the senate will increase the chances of that check. That happiness from the election outweighed the negativity from the riots. My wife was more upset yesterday than happy. I tried to convince her that yesterday was a good day. I think I told her I would take a dozen similar riots if it resulted in the same election results in some sort of false dilemma situation.

i hope youre not saying as long as you and yours stay fat (i mean…bulking) and happy today, who the fuck cares what else happens. that is a shit outlook on the world and one i will never agree with and look down upon those who hold it.

No.

A real shit outlook would be “This country was founded on guns, blood, and taking other people’s shit. It’s only fitting that it should also end that way.”.

That’s a shit outlook.

Not exactly that. I try my best to not worry about things outside of my circle of control. I don’t always succeed at this. Maybe it is me, but it doesn’t seem like a good use of energy. I don’t think it is irrational to be happy about things outside of my control, as I don’t think being happy is a bad use of energy.

If I really felt like this event was a serious threat to democracy or our country, I would perhaps try to do something about it. Maybe I made a poor judgement on the event (it is certainly possible)? I have already said I think the event was bad and I don’t support it.

My point to you was that I don’t think the sky is falling, and it seems that every argument saying it is has so far been in the form of a slippery slope fallacy, and that I don’t think you will win very many right leaning folks over by comparing the summer BLM events and this event, and saying this one is worse. FWIW, I agree that this was worse, but I am already voting for Dems.

Dude that show got cancelled from prime time in November and they announced yesterday, there’s no plans for syndication.

Oh, I’m sure he will at least have some ocasional cameos and guest star roles in other show. Or maybe a spinoff. How does “Better call Trump” sounds?

thats the thing. Yesterday was very clearly much further down the slippery slope than the summer time riots (which have been widely panned across the political spectrum and on here). It was a presidential endorsed riot and violent insurrection attempt on our nations capital and elected leaders. You have to be willfully blind to not see the gaping chasm of difference between that and the summertime riots.

At this point in time (24 hours later) i dont really care about winning any assholes over who think yesterday was no big deal, an antifa blackhat operation, or justified. fuck them. im pissed, and rightfully so. Say it with me: The president encouraged a violent insurrection by a mob against congress to overturn the results of a free and fair election ousting him from power. Fucking hell. Anyone who who shows any sympathy to that shit needs to be shouted down and shamed back into the dark, dank corner they crawled out of.

I like that angle. If Trump happens to read T-Nation, he might enlist some of us as writers for some future episodes.

I kinda like Saul better than Bad.
