I have nationals coming up this week, my elbows are fucked (tendonitis/tenis elbow). I’ve been waiting over a year to compete at nationals and i don’t wanna miss it because of this injury. Truck pull is the first event on day 1 and it’s the worse event for my elbows because of pulling the rope.
How should i go about working around this injury? I was planning on taking voltaren throughout the day.
Also, do i really need to pull hard on the rope for a good truck pull time? I’ve seen SM pro’s and the rope is barely tugged? (their is still a lot of slack in the rope).
Some of the top guys dont need to use the rope much after the start because they are over 400lbs, if your not that heavy your gonna have to use the rope for alot of the course but even if you have weight on your side you need to pull hard on the rope at the start.
That’s a tough one mate, rather than skip it, it may be best to pull a short distance instead of zeroing it.
A work around.
Instead of bending your arm by using your biceps try keeping the bi’s semi tense and ‘rowing’ the rope as you charge forward rather then relying on the bi’s to pull. Finish the pull with the bi’s if you can, but try and use your lats to initiate and get some movement before.
Another option is to hold static with the arms and drive with the feet, then climb up the rope and drive again(basically not pulling at all)
Have you tried using voodoo bands to rehab your elbows? It might be too late in this case, but I had some similar problems and voodoo band use is doing wonders.
