TRT Hasn't Worked for 2 Years. Help?

There is very little withdrawal issue. I just stop taking it cold turkey and it’s fine.

It will likely make you feel a little more assertive. Hard to describe. Like more confident and slightly more aggressive. Words tend to come more smoothly. I had one glorious day of super high libido on it, about 10 days in, on a super low 100mg dose. Lasted a few hours.

I would certainly give it a shot. The only down side for me was a little insomnia with it.

Thanks for the response. I think it is worth me trialling it for a good few months and seeing if it improves my symptoms. I was a cocaine user in a past life it feels like now, not anymore obviously, but I am thinking this may have done damage to dopamine production and this may be super low, so this may be a worthwile addition to try alongside TRT

It’s definitely worth trying.

I’m trying a dopamine agonist called ropinirole. It’s not really working though.

Are you having any signs of libido?

I do have libido yeah, its not as strong as I would like but it is there. My issue is more physical with the actual erections

Testosterone increases the release of dopamine, it’s one of the reason men no longer experience pleasure and motivation when testosterone is low.

Thank you, I did not know that. The thing is, I don’t have any depression (which I believe is what Bupropion is primarily prescribed for). I do have periods of low mood and anxiety, but that is directly due to my erection issues, its a vicious cycle. However fix the erections, I would have no mental issues I don’t believe.

My Dr was suggesting a microdose of it purely to see if it had an impact on erections and I am intrigued about that!

Thanks

I’m on TRT and low mood, anxiety and inability to achieve an erection occurs when my dosage isn’t high enough. These symptoms are all do to low-T.

If by microdose you mean a one time microdose of T, it does work like that for everyone. You have to reach a steady state before receiving benefits on a consistent basis and for some men it can take several months for libido and erections to appear.

It can also take a while to iron out the right amount of T your body needs to function normally, too much or too little and a weak or no libido and no or trouble getting an erection.

There should be no doubt whether or not you have low-T, it’s as clear as day and I find it concerning that your doctor is on the fence about whether or not you need TRT.

It reeks of inexperience prescribing TRT and trouble may be ahead of you getting a good treatment protocol which is a common problem worldwide. A lot of men have to pay out of pocket for TRT simply because sick care doctors follow outdated guidelines and treatment protocols.

Thanks systemlord.

Sorry I should have explained he is not discussing changing my TRT, I had a clear deficiency as per blood results above and have been on TRT almost 2 years, he is not disputing this.

He was discussing the possibility of microdosing Bupropion to see if this has an impact on erections. For the whole 2 years I have been on TRT my Testosterone and E2 have always been top of the reference range if not slightly over, yet minimal improvements on erections.

What do your potassium levels look like?

The reason I ask is because potassium regulates circulating testosterone and is also thought to regulate androgenic actions.

There is also the possibility that high normal T is part of the problem, everyone has their own optimal range where T needs to be to function normally.

I must admit I havent checked, I will do on my next bloods.

Are you saying that running high leveks may actually be contributing to my issues? I just find it amazing to believe after 2 years on TRT my erections can still be weak

This happens to men on cycles, weak erections and lower libido.

Interesting. A stated my T levels have always been on the high end during TRT, and subsequently so has E2. Amazingly, I get these high numbers on jist over 100mg a week. Maybe I should try dropping my dose and levels, get to more mid range numbers and see how this works

So I went to see a Urologist today… and he suggested coming OFF TRT to see if this improves erections! Is this not absolutely ridiculous?

That depends if you can function at all day to day without injecting, i.e you’re truly hypogonadal. If you could have sex adequately prior to TRT and now you can’t, coming off is probably a reasonable option. Coming off TRT is touted as this arduous process. It’s worth noting that some body builders both now and in the past have cycled on and off for years without giving it a second thought. Take your SERMs and you’ll probably be fine. If not then you are Hypogonadal and be grateful for TRT.

Haven’t read this whole thread.

My dr placed me on shots every other week. After reading these forums, i told myself i had to go to more frequent shots. I was at dailies at one point. Nothing was working.

I have since gone to one a week shots and seeing some improvement.

Maybe you need a larger dose less frequently? Maybe you need more fluctuation in test levels, which is more like the human body produces.

Only two likes (with mine) on this post. LMAO. Nice job man!

People should watch their pulse pressure as they change their dosing regimen. Some interesting phenomena there and easily trackable.

Have always found the age old high e2 debate a bit frustrating. Some clearly feel better with higher e2 while others have train wreck ED episodes with the same levels.

A decent amount of research has been published on the effects of Oestrogens on arteries. The possible connection was an interesting one!

Pulse pressure is a great gauge. A bit scary actually, it can be a strong indicator for arterial wall health but also a good indicator for blood thickness. If your 135/70 for example there’s a good chance your heart is pumping treacle and it’s time to make a change……

Hi guys,

I have got myself into abit of a state and I have no idea what to do now. As the thread suggests, I have been on TRT for 2 years and nothing has worked for erection quality. My doctor has thrown everything at it with more protocol changes than you would believe and trying HCG, AI, Wellbutrin, Proviron, DHT cream… you name it. But he always keeps things around the same dose, just tinkers slightly to all the other meds despite me telling its not been working for 2 years.

Currently I am on 750iu HCG, 80mg Test C per week and 1mg Aromasin E2D. My dick still just doesnt work.

I have 2 options I think.

Option1
Quit TRT and see what happens, as bizarrely some do report ED on TRT and then return to normal off TRT.

Option2
Take my TRT into my own hands and scrap everything else, scrap the AI and HCG. Go to JUST Testosterone. Start low… 80mg a week, maybe 3 x per week dosing and just LEAVE it alone. For 3 months. Then asses symptoms and get bloods. If no improvements and numbers are low, add another 20mg LEAVE for 3 months… and so on and so on…

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Matt
