Well, I’m going to try again. I got a call from a nearby doc’s office manager. Frankly I didn’t like his attitude, he was kind of cocky, kept saying that they’ve been doing it for a long time, whatever. Made a comment about how old my last blood results were. If I felt better I wouldn’t be calling you would I? I asked him a number questions and he kind of answered in circles. I guess that 1. He’s not the doc and 2. They can’t say much w/o more concrete results in front of them.
I asked about estradiol, he said they test for the full panel on estrogen. He said that they MIGHT prescribe Arimidex or some other drug, I forgot the name. Frankly I’m curious about just doing Arimidex.
I asked about testicular shrinkage and he said that if everythings done properly that won’t happen. He didn’t say anything about prescribing hcg or some other drug.
I told him I’d done a bit of research on my own and he sounded unimpressed. I also told him that I used to powerlift but have never juiced. I don’t think he believed I was drug free. Luckily he’s not the Doc.
Long story short I’m going by to pick up the blood test kit in the AM. It’s over $600. I was practically floored. It’s through Quest diagnostics. I’ll probably do it Saturday AM since it requires the same 12 hour fast. He said they freeze it and ship it off somewhere so it takes about 10 days to get results. That gives me more time to research the board. The consultation is goiing to run about $300 but atleast the office is very close, could almost walk.
Any suggestions? Anyone know a good HRT Doc in the Fort Worth Dallas area? [/quote]
Try ucprx.com. They have a physician referral list. Looks like there could be a few in the DFW area. My doctor in Phoenix is on there and I am very satisfied with him. Good luck.
Went up there today to pick up paperwork for the bloodwork. The office manager was more goofy than anything, needs some of his own treatments I think. I had to fill out a bunch of extra forms to get them to mail me a copy of my own blood work results, after the doc has reviewed them. It will take some 3 weeks to get results back and I had to set the appointment for the initial consultation for mid September. Sat AM is my blood draw and it’s right up the street. The bloodwork is freaky expensive.
OK,
Got my results in the mail. This test was done by Quest diagnostics. I’m pressed for time but I’ll give you the high(low)lights.

There’s more i’ll post later. FWIW I’ve been fairly good on diet and training lately, lost about 7 pounds but my stress level is still through the roof.
Well an interesting turn of events. Turns out the chiropractor I’ve gone to the last few months does TRT and also treats adrenaline fatigue. Gonna show him the blood tests monday night.
I’ve done pretty well on the diet end of things, pants feel looser, haven’t been to gym all week for a variety of reasons, and work is just crazy. On top of that remodeling a bathroom and my bud’s grandfather passed away.
I’ve really tried to take care of myself lately, but the T levels were half of what they were at the last test, what gives?

But if you are taking care of yourself and feeling better, you are making progress.
Appreciate the kind words Elaikases (what does that screenname mean?). Not feeling to hot right now. I’m eating ok but not making it to gym. Work has been killer lately and seeking God’s word on some rather tough decisions regarding career choices. The 100 degree heat here in FW/Dallas is not helping.
Took my blood results to the chiro, he gave me an adjustment and will discuss the results next week.
Elaikases is an old handle of mine, dates back to 1973 or so. I used to play a bit of D&D in the early 70s, which is where the name came from. I use it when my other handle Stephen M (Ethesis) doesn’t fit.
I’ll be out of town later this week, but feel free to give me a call at work if you need to talk or I can help. 214-570-6292 is my direct line.
I had to get the lawn mowed when it hit 107 the other day. Gargh, you are right about the heat. Trying to mow in the late evening when it backs off a little means if I’m not careful, I run out of light to mow by.
Well I had a consult w/ chiropractor. Says my liver is off, possible, leaky gut and low grade infection, and triglycerides are way up from 6 months ago despite eating clean and a drop in cholesterol. Says thyroid and adrenals working too hard.
He’s gonna set me up for 1 more blood test to fill a few gaps (at his cost) then go from there. Found out that so far he doesn’t think I need trt. Need to get the liver and the cortosol issues resolved first.
We’ll see.
I’ve lost 5-7 pounds almost no working out. Basically a combination of eating clean, working 12 hour days, and high stress levels. I just finished what was about a 2 month project in about 5 1/2 weeks.
I then quit my job, they were about to make me crazy. Gonna take some time to myself, work on the house and work on me. May find myself in a ministry or some type of non-profit work. We’ll see what the Good Lord has in store.
Try some fish oil tabs for your triglycerides. They work for some people (and not for others). Mine were up to 300, dropped to a hundred on the fish oil, then down to 50 on losing a lot of weight.
I thought it might be time for an update. The doc actually does not like to do hormone therapy. He’s trying some other means.
He’s got me on a 3 week detox program and I hate it. No caffiene, no red meat, no anything. The middle week involves no solid meat at all. He’s got me doing something called clearvite, it’s a powder supplement that is supposed to detox me, adaptocrine, glysen, and chrysin all 3 times a day, and 2 servings of fish oil a day.
He did some supplemental blood work. He says my progesterone (500+) and androstendione are very high but for whatever reason they are not converting to test, they are turning to estrogen instead. Right now he is trying to get my body to convert these hormones but if not he’s going to to try to get those levels down. The other day he had me bring in all of my supplements. He had me get off all of my Biotest proteins because they are milk based. I looked long and hard to find any protein that didn’t have some kind of milk in it and found myself in the hippie section of the health food store.
I’m getting more confused. Is the problem the fact that my progesterone and androstendione are too high or just that they are not converting? He wasn’t that concerned with the blood test that showed me at 303, but he was concerned with the huge drop in 6 months. He was a bit shocked that I try to get 200-240 grams of protein a day (I weigh about 220) and he was disturbed by the amount of sugar in Surge (I think he’s ignorant here). Ultimately I want high test levels and I want my size back.
Is there such a thing as a TRT doc, or any doc, who understands the desires of drug free weight lifters? I’m really not interested in becoming a vegeterian hippie.
Dallas has some HRT doctors who specialize in that area and whose practices have been booming.
I’d be more worried about soy protein than milk (though you can find bulk soy at Whole Foods and I think also at Central Market in Dallas or Plano).
I don’t know your doctor, his or her background or what they are doing, so I can’t offer any advice there. I’m curious where things will be after the three week detox, seems strange, but who knows.
Thanks,
To his credit he is anti-soy. Had me get rice protein and some others, kind of expensive and not very tasty. I’m not exactly sure what this guys vision is and I’m getting a little crazy w/ no meat at all for 1 week. Some of the other stuff (no soy, alcohol, caffiene, etc) makes sense. He did say my adrenals looked good.
I just cancelled an appointment for another nearby doc and it would be November before she could see me again. Could you PM me the info on some of those Dallas docs?
Thanks
I saw the doc again last week. He says his idea is that by clearing out the estrogen my body will start to produce more test naturally. I just finished a 3 week, very strict detox, going into a less restrictive detox but he has me taking even more pills plus chrysin. We’re going to do more bloodwork at the end of this next 3 weeks. He does let me do the bloodwork at his cost.Does all of this make sense? A friend of mine pointed out that as a chiropractor he may not be able to even prescribe meds.
Today is the 1 year anniversary of mom’s passing.
In other news I’m about 99% sure I’m going to hang a shingle and practice law out of my house.
Thought I would update. Got some bloodwork done at the end of the detox. The estrogen levels had dropped but the T levels were not coming back up. I’ve fallen off of the diet part but I’m very frustrated with the lack of follow up by this doc.
He’d originally talked about a natural testosterone booster but he was concerned that I might have some kind of auto immune issue going on w/ my thyroid. A week or more without hearing back from him.
I spoke to him on the phone before Christmas and expressed concerns that I was bogging down into a deeper depression. He acted like he was stumped and he’d probably just have to send me to a compounding pharmacy and I’d be on that for the rest of my life.
This was after he’d gotten my hopes up that I could be treated without HRT. That was 3 weeks ago.
I’m getting worse and need to do something about it. The bodylogicmd doc near me is so busy that it takes 6 weeks or more to get an appointment. I’d already cancelled once because I thought this guy could help.
I’m mad at myself for not sticking to the diet but I’m more dissapointed in him for the lack of follow up from him, that and he seems to change his story. I don’t even have an MD right now but I might go look up an old one.
I am in the process of trying to start up my own business. That can be extrememely stressful but I do have the benefit of being able to go at my own pace.
I’ve learned that my last MD has set up shop in a new town. I need an MD for a number of reasons. Any suggestions on finding a doc who is more t-man friendly? I’m self employed, no insurance at this point.
