TRT Being Denied by Prescription Drug Benefits

TRT being denied by my prescription drug benefit since the beginning of 2023. Been on TRT since 2016 with no problem of getting it filled by my prescription plan until now. I have two doctors supporiting the my claim and they are still foot dragging
Is anyone else having this problem?

I am not being treated by a TRT Medical clinic. I am being TRT cared for by two Doctors, one a Cardiologist with 20 years of TRT experience and an Endo from the WTC Health program. My insurance has been covering this since 2016 at a cost of $25 for ten week supply. The Prescription medical provide has eluded or question both providers Doctors office and suggest if this was for gender reaffirmation, which I can assure you is not, Its just a bunch of foot dragging BS. When this first happend, I called to asked why this was happening and got no answer for the first person on the phone. I then requested to speak to a Supv and that’s when it got worst for me. They just kept telling each doctor that the paper work was never received or it was incorrect. The head nurses from both doctors office said they could not understand why the were being so uncooperative. One even sad they were rude to her. I have an appeal in process with the state medical consumer assistance

Some insurance companies don’t cover TRT.

Testosterone cypionate is dirt cheap even when not covered.

No, TRT is covered under my insurance plan.

A 90 day supply of testosterone cypionate is around $50 dollars.

You must have sh**y insurance!

Insurance will (or should rather) cover your testosterone so long as you have a legitimate primary or secondary hypogonadism diagnosis through your PCP/Endo/Urologist. If you’re going through a TRT clinic then you will not likely be covered as this is usually consider age related or optimization protocol.

I don’t even both with my insurance anymore. They dick around and it’s always a hassle. PLUS goodrx is much cheaper I find.

My first provider hated TRT. Second provider covered literally everything. Current provider covers 50% of medications. Test is like $34 for 10 weeks anyway so not a huge deal

Same. I was going through insurance and an Endo. It was such a pain that now I use Defy for my T Cyp and Good Rx for my HGH.

Same here…I obviously use my insurance for my Dr. visits every couple of months [like every 9 as he writes me a few refills with each script] to get my Test cyp prescriptions but I don’t even bother with my prescription insurance as they want to always keep seeing bloodwork too often and it’s just a pain having to annoy my Dr with the stupid “pre-authorization” forms they require for “addictive/abuse potential medication”. Funny, I use my prescription insurance for my arimidex script and not only does my insurance not bay an eye at THAT, but I literally have ZERO co-pay at the pharmacy…it’s completely free!
I use Goodrx like others and a 10mL vial is right at $28 bucks here in TX. While through my insurance it’s only $5, I figure that at 28 bucks, I get 10 weeks of test so $2.80 a week is less than a cup of coffee…eh, when I figure it like that it doesn’t really bother me.
