need help. tried otc and herbals,no help and feel groggy in a.m. thinking using gaba,anyone use it? how bout tranquil-g? is it addictive, sounds like it might be. i need something leagal and non-adictive. please
Try ZMA nightime. Most of them are a nightime formula. Biotest has a good and inexpensive ZMA product. You may also be overtrained. Think about how long you’ve been working out without at least a 1 week break.
ZMA makes me sleep like a baby and has other great benefits. Melatonin makes me sleep like a comatose baby and gives me great T man dreams that involve hand to hand combat and viking battles, don’t know why but they are amusing. I used to stress about work and it caused me to lose sleep. Someone told me it is because you are worried you will forget what you are dreaming. Now I just keep a note pad next to the bed. If it is work realted I just write it down and go back to sleep. anal and annoying but hey it works for me.
Metatolin (sp?)…what is the recommended dose?
I’ve seen studies use anywhere from 3 - 10gm. I use 6gm nightly and feel that it works absolute wonders for me. One side effect is far more vivid and memorable dreams.
3mg has always worked quickly for me. 1mg works great for many. I see many on this forum using way over 3, but can’t imagine why. Anyway, 3mg is standard.
I take 4 grams of GABA nightly, and swear by it. I don’t know if there’s really a benefit regarding the increase of GH, but it knocks me out and gives me extremely vivid dreams. I’ve taken ZMA, but it’s never really helped me sleep.
GABA may help. Has helped me in the past. However, WHAT are you doing near bedtime that may be causing your insomnia? You know, are you working out about a two to three hours before beddy time? That there maybe a problem. Also, stress, daily worries, could cause insomnia.
So, before you begin to take a tablet, be it over the counter or herbal, look into your lifestyle also. Insomnia in the past for me, has been caused by stress.
I have this one self hypnosis tape by this guy named Barrie Konicov. When I used to use this tape, the voice of the hypnotist would knock me out cold, just because it was very soothing to hear. You might want to give his tapes a try. You’ll find different tapes on absolutely everything, like quitting smoking, self confidence, yada yada yada. He even has a tape for insomnia. Now I’m not saying that these hypnosis tapes will make a difference in your personality. Even though it does for some and not for others, that’s not what I’m trying to get here. What I’m saying is his voice itself could help put you in a relaxed position where it’s easy to fall asleep. That’s good enough for me!
Melatonin, should do the trick, I still think it is legal in the states!
Camomille tea, kava kava, and a bit surprisingly ginseng tonicum are other alternatives, and of course if you can get two twin poster pins to your bed an hour of exercising with them before bedtime, should make you sleep like a little baby!![]()
