Are you kidding? They brought back the original characters. How often does that happen over 30 years?
I want to say I’m excited but its hard to remember the original. Guess I’m going to have to rent it.

I’m somewhat ignorant towards the original (saw it a few times when I was a kid; don’t remember a thing about it), and I didn’t find the trailer interesting.
Jeff Bridges is in it. I’m sold. Never saw the original, guess I’ll have to now.
Don’t remember a thing about the original but this looks pretty cool.
Is that…David Bowie at the 1:43 mark?
In 3-D this should look badass.
I’m going to have to take my father to go see this.

Exactly. I was too young to really understand the movie when it came out, but I do remember having one of the cycles as a toy when growing up. I saw the movie later on tv and the concept was pretty cool especially for the time it came out…right at the start of the computer revolution.
I do wonder how they can tie in the “80’s computer world” to today’s(fast paced internet community) but my guess is that is part of the plot.
It is strange seeing Jeff Bridges in the same role considering he was basically a kid when the first one came out.
I’m wondering how many of the kids of today’s technologies are going to react watching the ‘dated’ original.

My guess is they won’t get it unless they quickly update the premise. You sort of have to know what a “floppy disk” is to get the concept of the first one. I guess that is why they went all of the way back in the preview and show the new guy uncovering all of that dated machinery.
Definitely a must see. I think I will be seeing this at IMAX.
I didn’t recognize the actor playing Flynn’s kid, but I’m just glad it’s not Shia Lebouf -lol.

That dude was partially to blame for the fuck up that was Indiana Jones. I don’t even hate the guy, but his face is was more visible than his talent.

Yep. It will be the same situation with the Wall Street sequel he’s in.
Bumping this cause I’ve not seen a tron legacy review thread.
Anyone seen this yet? I’m off out to see it in an hour or two, what did everyone think?
Saw it a few days ago. (Gonna keep this brief without spoiling anything)
What can I say? It was visually incredible. Soundtrack was great. The directing and overall atmosphere I think was spot on. The women were hot, lol.
On the downside, the story was a bit flimsy. There are just too many questions unanswered, and quite a few plot holes riddled about. The world isn’t really fleshed out enough. There were some parts/scenes that could have lead to interesting developments, but just ended up going nowhere or the potential plot developments there were ignored.
I think the story could have been a lot better, but I get the feeling the creative team struggled between showcasing the awesome visuals through the fight scenes and getting a deep, cohesive plot through as well. I think in the end they just needed to cram the story in between the fight scenes and action.
Overall though, a very enjoyable film. Story could have been worked on, but apparently Disney has already greenlighted the third film, so maybe questions will be answered there.
