Trial Watch: Sandusky

Apologists will chime…‘the NCAA don’t have jur-ass-dick-ion over a criminal matter.’
Or, ‘but the football team didn’t benefit like giving players cash’.

I say bullshit. It was ALL about the football image and the PSU footabll team benefited for eleven years of the cover-up!

Maybe the Board will disassemble the program themselves at their press conference today.
Exactly the type of ass-backwards thinking that needs to be avoided.

Punish a bunch of innocent kids on the team who had nothing to do with it. Come on.

Punish those responsible, like with any crime or scandal. Did anyone scream for penalties to all of congress when that dude silently ditched his wife and family to be with his columbian mistress and not tell anyone?

Edit: You don’t punish someone for UNKNOWINGLY BENEFITING from SOMEONE ELSE’S crime. That would be like punishing all the people who made money investing in Goldman Sachs without knowing they were doing shit illegally.

May as well just disband the football programs at all schools with a famous program, this has proven that the fear of losing a big football program can cause people to do heinous things. Down with Alabama and LSU!

There wont be a death penalty. There SHOULDN’T be a Death penalty. This is a matter that concerns the police and goes far beyond the NCAA jurisdiction. Do what they need to do;Fire and charge those involved, disband Second Mile, and compensate the victims. After that, move on from this fucking horror story.

OK, so why did SMU get the death penalty? Are you telling me ALL THOSE SMU KIDS took part? And there were NO innocent SMU kids on the team?

Seems to me it would be punishment to make innocent kids STAY on the PSU football team. Let them play somewhere, anywhere else.

So, the fact that something happened once somewhere means it was right?

Frankly, I don’t remember the SMU thing, but the fact that SMU got the death penalty does not in and of itself mean it was right to do so. Hell, the world trade centers once got taken down, so does it mean we should bomb the empire state building too?

Again, too bad that babbling idiot TBG wasnt still around to eat his own words or try to explain away this report as well.

All the higher ups knew about it and covered it up… Big shocker /sarcasm

PSU will likely face ZERO sanctions from the NCAA. This is a CRIMINAL matter and not an NCAA matter. Too bad JoePa died already and didn’t get to answer for his part in this disgraceful story.

^^^ You don’t think dying was enough of a punishment?

Life at that point is strongly linked to mental health and emotional strength. The fact he deteriorated so quickly after this report and his firing is beyond coincidence I think. He was capable of jogging onto the field still last year.

Dying of old age isn’t a punishment, everyone dies. He didn’t have to answer for his part of the coverup… That is a punishment.

I think all parties involve should be fired (obvi) but not te normal “firings” that you see with these types of positions where they still get a retirement and possibly a severance package. These disgusting criminals should be thrown out into the streets (figure of speech) with nothing but a swift kick in the ass.

They should all be tried in court for their crimes and punished according to what a judge or jury see’s fit. Ten they should each be sued in civil court for punative damages.

I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for someone who molests children or someone who covers up that type of act and allows it to continue.

My point is…almost ALL NCAA penalties/sanctions/etc., almost always adversely impact innocent by-standing players. So, don’t penalize a team/school because there are some innocents in white jerseys standing around??

In PSU’s case, it seems it would be more of a ‘punishment’ to make them play there under the current cloudy legacy. Let them play football in a sunnier place.

I would think that the only thing worse than being an incarcerated pedophile is being a ‘famous’ incarcerated pedophile.
I have two good friends who did serious time, and my pop taught in the Huntsville prison system, and apparently the two people who get it the worst are kiddy rapists and women beaters. I’d be floored if Sandusky’s alive in four months.
I highly doubt he’s going into the main stream prison population.
Think they said he’s secluded and on suicide watch. Wouldn’t be surprised though if he was “accidentally” left alone with certain members of general pop.

If anyone had a sense of humor they’d “accidently” send him to juvie.
Now that’s funny…

Well, “ALL THE EVIDENCE” is in, and Paterno played a hand in the cover up.

If they ding Ohio State for couple guys getting free tattoos, then Penn State is doomed to lose it’s whole program for a while… I really don’t see a way around it. Allowing a guy to rape kids is a little worse than receiving a free dinner or tattoo. The NCAA tied their own rope with this one. They were being so incredibly hard-assed about ridiculous, silly violations, that if they don’t railroad PSU, their going to be a collegiate lynch-mob.

I don’t know… criminal felonies are a violation of NCAA rules… I think the program is toast… I don’t see how it can survive. Of course, I think the NCAA is corrupt as fuck, so you never know…

^^If I was the NCAA I wouldn’t want to touch this case with a 10 foot pole. I’d rather not set a precedent of getting involve in things like this. The public backlash, shame, criminal trial and ensuing civil trials will do more to kill Penn States recruiting (and thus their season) than NCAA sanctions would.

What parent is going to let their kid go to Penn Sate right now? What Bowl selection Committee will select Pedo State to play in their bowl game?

Totally agree with this, you’re now setting a precedent that you have to punish schools with for criminal/moral cases outside of sports, which is just a GIANT gray area and clusterfuck waiting to happen.

Actually they’ve had a really good recruiting class.

And go fuck yourself for saying pedo state. There were less than 10 people involved, it’s not the fault of the entire University.

I will band together with fellow Penn State alums. Do not take that as support for Sandusky or Paterno or anyone else in the Freeh report, they are all shitbags. They do not represent Penn State to me, nor should any 0.1percent of a group of people be considered representative of that entire group of people.

LOL @ Scj… You know that’s what everyone’s gonna call you guys.

I can already see the signs up at College Game day of the Pedo Bear with a Penn State shirt on and the caption “Pedo State.”

You have to admit that it’s pretty funny.

aaaaaand this.

Just read ESPN’s recap of the Freeh report and this stood out to me:

Now doesn’t this mean the Feds can take action independent of anything done by the NCAA? And will they?

[source: Report says Penn State Nittany Lions senior officials disregarded children's welfare - ESPN]

Yes, I believe so. This isn’t really an NCAA issue, it is an issue for the PoPo… Doesn’t really have much to do with the football program even though members of coaching staff knew about it.

criminal charges/jail time >>> NCAA sanctions.
