When you watched the Sopranos, did you see them as THUGS?
Yes.
Well then, anyone who dresses like that…
Would be viewed with a jaudiced eye until proven otherwise if the Sopranos was real life, which it isn’t.
According to posters here, they would be accepted immediately as NOT THUGS by what they wear alone.
If you lived in an area with a mafia problem you would stereotype those guys just as much (probably more) than any other type of dress.
Yeah, if I live somewhere with a known mafia presence (I dunno maybe New York) and an group of Italian men in really nice suits walk in I am probably going to be thinking they are mobsters.
Interesting how quickly those black men were arrested, charged and jailed.
Only one was arrested, the other were given summons and let go on the spot, the two that were let go were women. They supposedly did the beating on the 14 year old and the other woman after the man knocked her down.

You see ABZ and you turn and walk the other way.
Do you think they’re ‘‘thugs’’ too?
Come on, those guys look like a cool bunch to me. Bear in mind that I’m totally ignoring who the fuck they are. I’m just stating this as if I was walking pass them in the streets.
Even though two of the victims were rendered unconscious (supposed to be mandatory felony level assault) only the man was charged with a felony, the other two were charged with misdemeanors.

But what makes those guys ‘‘thugs’’? Would you think they were thugs had you passed them walking down the streets (minus the cloth hiding their faces of course)? Would you consider them ‘‘thugs’’, hadn’t you seen them with their guns?
The colors/rags whatever you want to call them are my first point of notice.
But in order to answer your question I would need to know more detail in this hypothetical:
What type of neighborhood are we in
How many are together
Are they speaking
Are the walking or standing still
What is their demeanor, happy and busting each others balls or quite, stoic and on alert
Is it clear which vehicle is theirs? What does it look like
What time is it
Are all their colors the same
There is nothing wrong with it. They have successfully portrayed themselves as people you do not want to fuck with though, with or without the guns, until they prove otherwise.

They certainly wouldn’t feel the same about you. I promise you that, lol.

Interesting. Where are these majority of places whites can’t go without being in danger?
There are 3 or 4 places in Pittsburgh alone that everyone knows as dangerous and shady. Driving through at night isn’t even advised, and you definitely don’t get out of the car. Pittsburgh overall has a very nice community, but you don’t play in those areas. On the contrary, Black people are not “in danger” of any white neighborhoods here, last I checked.
I also stopped at a gas station to get directions to go to the zoo once… first time I had ever seen the clerk behind a glass window at a gas station. Where I live, I can reach out and hug them if I want. Safe place I guess.
Also, I’m 5 of the 7 new pages through what was added after my posts last night. No one stating we are close-minded has addressed any of the links provided of solid data.
I honestly think some of you are arguing for the sake of arguing. And my question to you about “understanding other ‘cultures’” is as follows - have you ever left the US for anything other than vacation, because there is a hell of alot of culture out there you aren’t seeing either, and you can be damned sure you’d get profiled/treated worse there than here. You blend or you clash, people choose to clash and then ask why they are treated differently. Same goes for goths and whatever else.
I regularly visit small towns all throughout the south hunting and guess what? Most of them are very small in population and have black and white people. Everyone knows everyone and they were not tossing bottles at each other or fighting in the streets.
Some of the towns are mostly black too and I was treated friendly and went about my business. Now in certain parts of Memphis, I wouldn’t venture short of going in with a tank especially if you are white.
Bauber, you are a tank buddy… they don’t make compartments to fit “your size.” Yea, I just discriminated against you for being big. The exotic car industry discrminates against guys over 220lbs or excessively broad shoulders too, I couldn’t comfortably fit in a Lotus at 255lbs :(, but now I can ;)… game on!!

I see nothing with the way they’re dressed (well, minus the cloth) that suggests those guys are up to no good. Shit, even Will Smith used to dress that way back in the 90s and he’s one of the tamest rappers out there.

But that is the way you perceive them. Not everyone does. I don’t. Maybe because I ain’t interested in knowing if some people are part of a gang etc. If they had their gun on display, then yeah, I wouldn’t want to fuck with those motherfuckers.
And keep in mind, I’m saying this as I walk pass them guys in the street. They look normal to me. They are just wearing massive basketball T-shirts and baggy jeans, boots etc… that’s fashion. Other people who are not up to no good dress that way (hence me bringing up Will Smith earlier on).
It’s just as there are thugs who dress like bankers, but that doesn’t make bankers ‘thugs’'. That doesn’t make Suit and Tie the ‘‘thugs’’ dress code.

Haha. That’d depend on the area I am, right?
What if I’m downtown and I see that group hanging out in a parking lot, or outside the cinema or a restaurant…? Shall I be scared too?
They look cool to me. I like what they wearing. They could be good guys, bankers, ingeeneers, Athletes, blue collar guys, all friends in relax wear going to the park, cinema or on their way to the club. I wouldn’t think ‘‘thug’’ really.
And this is said as I totally ignore the gang in your picture. I’m mostly focusing on their ‘‘attire’’.
How to tell someone is a thug… by their criminal record… so from now on before engaging in conversation everyone will be questioned of their record - or everyone wears a “name tag” that states their record around their neck at all times, kind of like at a business conference. Let’s play part A out for an example…
White person, subject W is walking down the street. Coming down the opposite side of the sidewalk is a Black person, subject B. Subject W is dressed with sagging pants, forward hat canted to the side, and a tank top… its hot outside. Subject B is dressed in “normal” clothes (see I gave you a bump and set) coming from work, dress pants, slacks, and dress shoes, but he’s sweating his ass off. As subjects W and B approach the following conversation occurs at 10 feet away.
Subject B: Evening, before we get any closer, could you please provide your criminal record in a brief statement.
Subject W: Evening to you, I was accused of assault with a deadly weapon but never convicted. How about you?
Subject B: I once paid my taxes late. I am uncomfortable that you’ve been previously accused of assault, I am going to cross the street now.
Subject W: I’m a changed man, but I understand, have a good day.
Subject B: You as well.
This is my 4th post in a row, probably to be continually ignored by X and others, even though I specifically addressed them and their questions - as a reasonable adult. As its not fitting for this conversation - the top 25 most dangerous cities in the US, broken down by demographics. Some cities are so nice, they are listed twice or thrice!! X, my company has an office in Houston, I will ask the people there if they can go anywhere anytime and be safe. Get back to you in a few days.
Was in their neighborhood that my father-in-law’s back window was shot out.
However the Angels control a couple blocks across the street, so I’m not sure if he was the target.
ANyway, the point being. You learn quick not to sleep on people.
Any two or three of these dudes I’ve pictured sits down next to me in the restaurant while I’m eating sushi, and I’m not going to think twice. If it is 130am and I’m stopping for gas on my way home and 5 or six dudes dressed like this are hanging around the window. I’m fucking pissed I didn’t just get gas in the morning.
And you do realize I could google and find many more black on white crimes since that is far more the norm than the other way around? So this is moot. You have to look at both sides and not just what fits your agenda or message.
Dr. Malcom X isnt very good at making valid/meaningful points.

Has anyone defined what a thug is? At least in the context of this thread. I lived in Newark and a lot of the younger (and even some older) people dressed with sagging jeans and whatever but I don’t think any of them were thinking thug or some sort of image. I bet if you asked any of them why they dressed that way and they wouldn’t even know beyond the idea that it’s how everyone else dresses. Isn’t that the reason behind how most people dress? They just want to fit in with their peers. There isn’t some deep thought put into it. Especially when talking about young people. They are natural followers. The problem is that they don’t have anyone around with the sense to tell them they look ridiculous. Having said that, what excuse do 12 year old white suburban girls who dress like streetwalkers have when they do have someone that should know better in their lives? I know they aren’t prostitutes though they dress like them so why do we make some assumption about “thugness” (whatever that means) when we see young black males dressed a particular way?
