You can look at all the satistics you want but as a Jewish kid that lived in Georgia for about 5 years I can promise you it aint all that friendly. They will treat you better then blacks or Mexicans but you are still 2nd class. We moved to GA from NYC and when my dad protested the annual KKK march he got death threats. The nice southern jews didnt rais a finger to help out they just stood by when the Klan burned a cross in our front yard. Needless to say we moved away to DC a year later and never went back to the local temple. If you really think the south is open minded and fair take a family trip through the small towns of Alabama, Georgia, and Ol Miss. But make sure to bone up on your Krav Maga you may need it

Well I only just now started in on this thread so I’ve got some train wreck reading to do yet, but I’d like to make a couple comments here.
1st–If you want to move the debate to SYG laws making no exception for being the aggressor in the confrontation that’s a valid direction to move the argument and it could lead to some interesting talks. But lets do keep this line of talk (which I assume I am firmly behind on by this point in the thread) separate from the Trayvon/Zimm case because SYG was not invoked by defense. The SYG law had no effect on the trial.
2nd–It should be noted that in ANY state if you want a level playing field everyone needs to be armed. Not limited to SYG states because the same inequalities in physical size exist.
3rd–I assume a bunch of people have pointed it out to you already but the last bit about the wild west was ridiculous and you know it. That is a) not an actual argument b) a logical fallacy which has been shown numerous times and c) a tired line that gets recited over and over ad nauseam but does not reflect statistical reality.

The people I am defending are being defended because calling them THUGS based on a style of dress alone that is NOT used by thugs alone makes no sense and is wrong. That is all.

This is for the most part absolutely blatantly wrong. I will say that I have no doubt that some black people say they are scared to drive through certain area’s, however I would be willing to bet that if they did, nothing would happen and they would probably pass by as many black people’s houses as white.
Also, even if there are the existence of places that black people cant go without being in danger because their race makes them a target, they are extremely small in comparison to the places that white people cant go because their race literally puts a target on their back. If you do not acknowledge that, then you are either being purposely blind or are extremely sheltered.

I regularly visit small towns all throughout the south hunting and guess what? Most of them are very small in population and have black and white people. Everyone knows everyone and they were not tossing bottles at each other or fighting in the streets.
Some of the towns are mostly black too and I was treated friendly and went about my business. Now in certain parts of Memphis, I wouldn’t venture short of going in with a tank especially if you are white.

Obviously things aren’t to bad for blacks in the deep south (that giant dark purple are is Mississippi), either that or they are just gluttons for punishment.
