Lifting tomorrow , Wednesday , and Thursday . Had nonsense the last two days . This is life as a middle aged guy . Emergencies , broken stoves blah blah . This week is 590 on the deadlift. Damn . It’s a pr but oh so close to 600.
tom63,
What kind of diet are you eating? How many days a week do you train? Keep up the good work. I may work with Josh in the future.

Diet is 200-250 g of protein a day . After that I don’t worry . I’m just judicious about drinking alcohol sbd eating crap.
As for days per week . I run my four workouts over about nine days. Sometimes longer due to crap such as broken stoves, termites and other middle aged crap .
Also , I’ve gained app five pounds . Was 212 post workout today . Figuring about 209 in the morning .
I’m happy at my weight now, but I don’t want to get much heavier . This keeps me at range for the 198s.
5/19/11. Jm press 175 x 6,6,6,6,6
Mini band pull aparts x 15,15
Shoulder box 20 x 15,15,15
Tricep kickback. 30 x 15,15,15,15,15
Leg raise bent x 12,12,12
Leg raise st x 9,9,9
Tomorrow tough deadlift workout . Pr time .
5/22/11 good, great , bad, and ugly today .
Deadlift 45 x 12,12. 135 x 3, 185 x 2, 225 x 2 , 275 , 315,365,435, 525,590 x 1 * weight pr . Used my metal deadlifter for the last two .
New weight pr . I have previously weighed my plates and can Cheater say I pulled 600 now, but only 590 goes in the books and on the board . My twelve 45s are 14.5 lbs heavy .
Next week official 600 or 605, Josh is mulling it over now .
495 x 2,2,2 no suit three minutes rest
Bent over rows . 255 x 5,5,5. Retweaked my left s&c joint on these . I think I hurt it on my 385 two bd attempt
Shrugs 450 x 2, shut it down . Hurt like a bitch on the left .
No deficit deads
, did 50 x6,6,6 on reverse hyper done 4-1-4 tempo .
Spread eagle situp 10 x 8,8,8
So I think I’m calling it quits on my two bd for now . 380 was a fifty lb increase. My deads and squats still get one more tough week .
I’m shooting for 625-650 on test day . I sent Josh a video of 585 from October and 590 today . Today was faster .
If I’ve been corresponding with you and you pm me a cell number or email I’ll send it to you . I’m not big on posting my lifting on a public forum . Sometimes us old guys like ton foil hats !!
5/25/11 two bd 45 x 10, 135 x 6, 200 x 10,10,10
left ac joint held up.
Shoulder box 20x 10,10,10,10
paused db tri ext 30 x 10, 5 sets
hammer curl 60 x 10,10,10. These bothered the left ac jt.
Band pull aparts 4 sets fifteen reps
three sets one minute iso prone abs
Have you looked at his Powerbuilding book yet? I’m curious as to if what you are doing is similar to what he packaged. I’m not in the price market for a personal trainer, just an e-book lol
I have it and think it’s a great book . Well worth the money .
I have the book as well and am working with Josh as well. While some of what he does when he trains you is in the book, it’s how to progress and fix certain issues that pertain specifically to you that is so helpful when training with him.
The book is great, one of the best sources of information I’ve read in a long time, but nothing can take the place of a coach imo. This goes for any sport. You can read all you want, but sometimes the best thing to do is give your training to someone else (that you trust).
Well said LiquidMercury . I’ve done this forever but made my best gains with him.
Thanks guys. Appreciate the input. I’m not in the financial position to go to that level yet. Have either of you been coached before?
I have not (at least not for lifting), I actually am a coach and oversee 140 athletes daily. Even though I’ve competed at a national level in rowing, I still had a rowing coach. You might know all there is to know about training but sometimes it’s good to take your mind out of the equation and let someone else program. It can bring a whole new way of thinking about things. As tom said, I realized I wasn’t doing nearly enough work and that I’m capable of a lot more.
I was with people with more experience and some clubs , but not one on one .

Just so you don’t get the wrong impression, I’ve been lifting for four years. About the last two powerlifting. Just to say that I have a lot to learn. Again, thanks for the input.
Sure, I’ve been involved with this over twenty five years , been to westside, seen a lot of stuff, but never had the one on one stuff before, it’s great!
