Saturday, June 2, 2012 - Back & Biceps
FOREWORD: My house was out of food, so I built an epic Grand Slam at Denny’s for dat bloat lulz.
Warm Up
- PVC roll back
- Lots of stretching
- Rotator cuff
Pull Ups
1 X 10 X BW
3 X 5 X BW +10 lbs.
NOTES: First set felt good, so I left a couple reps in the tank for my weighted pull ups. Got a wild hair up my ass and decided to do some weighted ones. They were surprisingly easy. I thinking I’m going to go for 5 X 6 with the +10 lbs. next week and see how that goes.
Wide-grip Lat Pulldowns
1 X 12 X 42.5
1 X 12 X 50
1 X 12 X 55
NOTES: I face the opposite way on these. I can’t use as much weight as when I have my legs under the pads, but I get a way better contraction out of them when I can’t use any body English and just have to use my back. Plus using straps kept my biceps out of the equation, so I got a real nice contraction out of these.
Wide-grip Low Cable Rows
3 X 15 X 65
NOTES: Again, just focused on the contraction, not the weight. I really went for the stretch and leaned all the way forward with these and just pulled back, concentrating on squeezing my lower lats for some total back development. Even as a powerlifter, I need an overall big back so I can get a better base for squatting, benching, and deadlifting. Straps helped keep the focus on my lats doing the pulling.
EZ Bar Curls
3 X 12 X 45
Pronated-grip Dumbbell Curls
2 X 10 X 20s (each arm)
1 X 10 X 25s (each arm)
Single-arm Hammer Strength Preacher Curls
3 X 10 X 25 (each arm)
Standing Double Cable Curls
3 X 12 X 15
Flat Machine Preacher Curls
3 X 12 X 40
ENDING NOTES: I feel like such a closet bodybuilder lol. I seriously don’t think I would mind competing in a show one of these days. Anyways, today was one of the best workouts in a while. Picked up some Hemo-rage from Vitamin Shoppe today, and I have to say, awesome product. Got a huge pump from it and intense focus. Can’t wait to use it again. Got work tonight and then a party to head over to. Gonna go H.A.M. tonight. Leggo!
