Training With Ed Coan

I don’t know how or when it will be done, but it will be done.

CS

Beginning to wonder what I can DB bench press. My best ever was the 100s for 10, but that was about 9 months ago. I think I could get that again, maybe 100s for 12-15. I don’t know, we’ll see. I’d like to get the 120s for 6. I’ll go to Quads and see how heavy I can go.

CS

Getting paid to workout would be the shit.
Get a combat job in the Army and thats what you’ll do man. Gotta stay in superb shape year round because you’ll never know what can happen.
But, yeah man. I think on the pace you’re going a sponsorship is definitely a possibility.

Yeah, pretty much. How’s the injury coming along?

Lucky. I turned 19 recently and I have never even gotten close.

Congrats on whistling bro. haha. It is actually coming along well and I should be fine. Doing physical therapy for awhile then gonna go back to training this winter hopefully. I deadlifted 275 today for some singles and it felt fine. Getting back into cardio shape is another story. But, Rome wasn’t built in a day and nothing is.
When do you meet with the ROTC program?

Good to hear about the progress. I meet with the ROTC people in the first week of June, most likely. They haven’t called me back, yet. I’m planning on calling them again tomorrow. I’m super excited to visit Georgia; looks like an awesome place to be.

Monday, May 7, 2012 - Bench Day

Warm up

  1. PVC roll everything
  2. Lots of stretching
  3. Rotator cuff

Flat Bench Press
2 X 6 X 135
1 X 3 X 165
1 X 1 X 195
3 X 8 X 225* Volume PR.

NOTES: Pretty good, overall. The last set was killer. Still loosing tightness, though. Something I’m trying to work on. All this volume is killing me.

Paused Close-grip 2 Board Bench Press
1 X 8 X 185
1 X 8 X 205
1 X 4 X 225

NOTES: I was supposed to go for 8 on the 225, but I was just dead. Couldn’t get it.

Paused Incline Bench Press
2 X 4 X 185

Dip Machine/Cable Flye Superset
Dip Machine - 3 X 10 X shitload of weight
Cable Flyes - 3 X 10 X 50 (each side)

EZ Bar Skullcrushers
5 X 12 X 50

Tricep Rope Pushdowns
3 X 10 X 35

ENDING NOTES: Dying. My triceps have never hurt this bad, even worse than the chains the last two weeks. Just exhausted. Maybe it’s because I lost 5 lbs. in the last month or so. I’m down to 190, actually. Kinda surprised. Looking to gain a few lbs. back pretty soon here. Gotta step up the food intake. Cardio tomorrow morning.

CS

DOMS has already set in. FUCK! It feels like my triceps and pecs were stabbed with an ice pick.

CS

Well, it’s official: I have an interview on June 7 at North Georgia State College and University for admissions AND an ROTC scholarship. Let’s go!

CS

Great! Go get em!

Some asshole hit my car while I was at school today and left a nice, foot-long dent in my door. Can’t wait to see how much this will cost.

Not that I know of.

90 seconds walking X 8

Wednesday, May 9, 2012 - Squats & Deads

Warm up

  1. PVC roll everything
  2. Lots of stretching

Paused Squats
2 X 5 X 135
1 X 5 X 185
1 X 2 X 225
1 X 3 X 255
1 X 3 X 275
1 X 3 X 295* +10 lb. PR.

NOTES: These keep getting easier. My form is pretty much bulletproof now.

Convenvtional Deadlifts
1 X 5 X 135
1 X 3 X 225
1 X 2 X 315
1 X 1 X 350
1 X 0 X 380
1 X 3 X 380
3 X 3 X 275

NOTES: Shitty day of deadlifting. I’ve learned that I pretty much don’t know how to fucking deadlift. My set up blows. I don’t squat enough and use enough legs.

Called it after this; had to go back to school for an AP review. Whatever.

CS

My training usually goes to shit when I start to slack on my diet and lose weight. Gonna start adding more calories here and there.

Gotta get my shit together or I’m in for a rude awakening.

OH! Found a meet that I can do. It’ll be at Lance’s Gym on July 28! Perfect timing, too.

CS

Good luck at the meet bro!
