Congrats, too.
“Scholarships” are cool, as far as I know they just don’t exist over here. Except maybe for athletes aiming for olympic spots. Congrats.
Yeah Over here you can pretty much pay for your school if your somewhat smart/have a job that gives them out or you play a sport.
Thanks, T-Nation family!

Not sure. This place is my back up to West Point. If I don’t get in, then this place is where I’ll most likely end up. I’ll have to weigh out my options at VMI and The Citadel, too. Only time will tell.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - Squats & Deads (I can’t believe it’s already May!)
Warm up
Paused Squats
2 X 5 X 135
1 X 5 X 185
1 X 2 X 225
1 X 3 X 245
1 X 3 X 265
1 X 3 X 285* +10 lb. PR.
NOTES: Good speed on all of them. I got stronger as the weights got heavier; I always do, though.
Deadlifts
1 X 5 X 135
1 X 3 X 225
1 X 1 X 275
1 X 1 X 315
1 X 0 X 365
1 X 1 X 365
1 X 5 X 365* +15 lb. PR, +4 rep PR.
NOTES: Oh my. These were a bitch tonight. First attempt, I got too worked up and didn’t get nearly tight enough. Relaxed, came back around, and barely squeaked 1 rep out. I decided to give it one more go. This time, I came up to the bar completely relaxed, made the bar my friend, and got 5 good reps. I was probably good for another 2-3.
It’s come to the point where getting fired up and all that rah-rah shit doesn’t work. Gotta just calm down and make peace with the bar. I think that it will be better in the long run. Anyways, probably have 380 for triples next week.
Bent-over Barbell Rows/Wide-grip Lat Pulldowns Superset
Bent-over Barbell Rows - 3 X 10 X 135
Wide-grip Lat Pulldowns - 3 X 10 X 120
Hammer Strength High Pulldown/Low-Row Superset
Hammer Strength High Pulldown - 3 X 10 X 150
Low Rows - 3 X 10 X 140
ENDING NOTES: Overall, kind of a “meh” day. I killed the squats. Then for some reason, I just had a feeling that deadlifts weren’t going to go well. Personally, I think I got scared. That’s never happened before. It was a complete mental barrier that I was struggling to get through. Don’t care what happens, all I know is that I have to come back next week and smash some fucking weights.
Anyways, I have OHP on Friday and early morning run tomorrow. Looking to beat my distance from Tuesday. Shooting for 2.3 miles overall in my run. Time for some food, because the deads have me starving.

Good deadlifts. To miss, then get better the next 2 sets shows some mental stregnth.
Good stuff bro. Proud of ya.
Thursday, May 3, 2012 - Couch to 5k, Week 1, Day 2
Warm up
Work out
5 minute warm up walk
60 seconds running
90 seconds walking
Did this for a total of 20 minutes, or 8 “reps.”
3.5 minute coll down walk.
TOTAL DISTANCE: 2.51 miles
TOTAL TIME: 28:30
ENDING NOTES: Felt good today. I didn’t think I was going to beat my distance from Tuesday by that much, but lo and behold, I did. Felt good. Got my mind clear and ready for the rest of my incredibly long day.

It definitely wasn’t easy. Eddie hasn’t been there the past two weeks, so it’s been tough without him. Don’t know what the man’s been up to haha. There’s just a different feel in the gym when he’s there; it’s a total night and day difference.

Fridfay, May 4, 2012 - Shoulders
Warm up
Strict Overhead Press
1 X 10 X 45
1 X 5 X 65
1 X 2 X 85
2 X 10 X 125
NOTES: Nothing special. They were hard for some reason.
Seated Dumbbell Military Press
1 X 12 X 65s
1 X 12 X 70s
1 X 12 X 75s
NOTES: Easy, easy, easy. I thought I was going to do 3 X 12 X 65s today, but as soon as I got through the first 4/5 reps of the 65s, I realized that I could’ve done 20. So, I went on up to 70s. Same story there; probably could’ve done 15. Went up to 75s and banged out 12 good ones. Was pleasantly surprised by these. Gonna keep this scheme going. Hoping to be able to do the 100s someday. That would mean me maxing out the dumbbells in my commercial gym lulz.
Cable Lateral Raise
1 X 12 X 10 (each arm)
2 X 12 X 15 (each arm)
Hammer Strength Seated Military Press
1 X 12 X 120
1 X 12 X 140
1 X 12 X 160
1 X 12 X 180
Face Pulls
1 X 12 X 25
1 X 12 X 40
1 X 12 X 55
Reverse Pec Dec Flyes
3 X 12 X 100
ENDING NOTES: Overall, pretty great workout. My inner bodybuilder is slowly coming out lol. Anyways, workout only took about an hour, maybe 55 minutes. Kept the rest periods short again and just hammered away at my shitty shoulders. I’m hoping to finally get a cap on these things so I don’t look out of whack. Goin’ for dem aztectics, brah. Trying to investigate this PL meet in July. If I see Eddie soon, I’ll ask him what he thinks and if it’s a good idea. I’m really looking to get a PL meet under my belt this summer before in-season football practice starts up in August. Got light back and biceps tomorrow and then cardio on Sunday.
CS
Saturday, May 5, 2012 - Back & Biceps
Warm up
Pull Ups
5 X 8 X BW* Volume PR.
NOTES: Pretty good. Got all the reps nice and clean. I think I’m going to see how many sets it takes me to get 50 reps. That’ll be my new challenge.
Close-grip Lat Pulldowns
3 X 10 X 50
Wide-grip Low Rows
3 X 12 X 70
EZ Bar Curls
4 X 10 X 60* Volume PR.
Dumbbell Scott Curls
3 X 10 X 20 (each arm)
Pronated Grip Dumbbell Pinwheel Curls
3 X 12 X 20 (each arm)
Machine Preacher Curls
3 X 10 X 45
ENDING NOTES: It was an alright workout. I was happy with the pull ups. Arms were kinda “eh.” Whatever. I got cardio tomorrow, so I’m going to try and beat 2.51 miles in 28 minutes.
