Training w/ Lowered Immune System?

Well for anyone who knows about Steve Machilik or has read interviews with him, youve probably heard that he and his buddies would take snake venom to lower their immune system to help him gain muscle mass. Yet he never really explains the physiology behind it, if there is any. So can anyone help explain to me how and if a lowered immune system helps training for muscle mass?

I’m sure this was asked before, and let me once again state that this is a retarded idea, and that although Steve Machilik had an amazing physique, he was clearly not playing with a full deck.
