Training Personal Records Part 4

A little PR from last night around 30#s, I had expected closer to 850 but I’m not mad about it.

Geared lifting looks like so much fun… I want a suit… and a crew…

hahaha it can be fun, it can also be the most mentally frustrating thing in the world.

Oh you have an extra pound of water weight today so now your shirt isn’t going to fit right and you can’t touch.

The crew last night was thin, I was grabbing lots of randoms for help. One of the guys is a trainer and his client is spotting too lol. It takes a lot of people to get me through a squat and I appreciate everyone that helps.

I could of tightened the suit up more, fought for depth and smashed 850 last night but I’ve been having a lot of knee pain and hip tightness so I took the smooth easy approach instead of the harder more aggressive route.

Meet is in 9 weeks, we’ll go aggressive then.

Any particular strategies you use to manage knee pain when the lifts get heavy? I know docs would say “Just stop lifting,” but obviously that’s hard advice to take when you’re making good progress and a new PR is in sight.

Find the cause and fix it.
In my case it was tight quads and adductors. So stretch, body tempering and scraping with cupping fixed me up.

First time on the husafell stone. I haven’t been able to practice it because I’ve been nursing a rough bicep. Gripped it way too high on the stone, but just wanted to prove to myself I can pick it off the ground and walk. It’s also a good bit heavier (300) than I will have to use in competition (260), but it’s a solid concrete slab so there’s no way to deload it.

I did hit a 200 pound atlas stone to shoulder for 4 reps. Not supper hard, but it is the most I’ve done.

Technically a 2 board PR yesterday with 495, but I did that off a 1 board a month ago sooo does it really count?

Conjugate PRs can get stupid lol but at least a board PR makes sense.

645 lb sleeve squat PR from last week. Pretty appalled at how bad form broke down on this… I promise the 625 prior to this did not look nearly as bad lol

Also… anyone have any idea why when I post IG links it doesn’t show the screenshot like everyone else?

Pretty sure this counts as a straight bar straight weight PR

735 ( second video ), it was ugly, i got all kinds of shifted and shaking but i finished it. I know what the issue is and can clean it up.

Deadlift I’m not sure if it’s a PR or not ( probably could of set one either way ). I think the last reverse band I did was 635 back in 2019. This was arguably less band tension ( only 60 off the floor ) probably could of easily put 675 on there but the day was about Attempt selection not ME work.

Not great compared to many on here, but getting back into lifting after a bit of a forced hiatus, pretty happy with my trap bar deadlift PR today.

Couple of nice PRs from the past few days. Sumo triple at 618 lbs, and a bench dub at 440 lbs. Extra stoked that my back didn’t hurt after grinding that last pull lol.
