I do enjoy Trader Joe’s. I spend less at TJ’s than I do at the regular grocery store. it is a pity that TJ’s is almost an hour from my house. i still make a point to go there at least once a month to stock up on organic frozen fruits and veggies, natty PB, nuts, cheeses, etc.
I usually buy the bulk of my families food from the commissary on base during the winter. When the farmers markets open back up that is where we get most of our beef, vegetables and fruits.
I still go to Trader Joe’s to get the following:
-chicken sausages
-bacon
-fruits - fresh and frozen
-some vegetables - fresh and frozen
-milled flax seed
-coconut milk
-juice
-chicken dumplings (cheat day meal)
-philly steak pizza (cheat day meal)
-wine on occasion
-chocolate covered almonds - my wifes’ once a month crave
-olive oil
-sesame oil
-soy sauce
-pesto
-parmesean cheese
-pine nuts
-green tea
-yerba mate
-chicken skewers
What I typically get a TJs:
-Bags o’ broccoli florets (I prefer to eat a lot of the smaller ones than fight with a small tree I can find at the supermarket)
-Turkey Chile (amazingly tastey, good macros, and great when you dont really wanna cook)
-Stevia Packets (supposedly better than the other artificial sweeteners)
-Almond Butter (great in oatmeal)
-Flax Seed Chips (which I dip in Pineapple Salsa)
What I typically get at BJs"
-Bags of precooked (although processed) chicken (too convenient to not have on hand)
-Bulk chopped beef or turkey (which I make into patties and freeze individually)
-Bulk Cashews and Almonds (toss in Cottage Cheese at night)
-Protein Bars (sometimes you find a pretty good assortment, always good to have if I’m gonna need a snack in a movie theater)
And of course other crap I get in moments of weakness (dark chocolate M&M’s in 10 lbs bags -lol)
$4.99 for a 1 lb tub of preservative free container of BBQ chicken.
Whole Foods, now that place is overpriced
I got 2 bags of groceries there and it was $80.
btw- Trader Joe’s used to carry Australian Free Range burgers a 4 pack was like $4.50, haven’t seen it in a while. Anyone buy it before, and does your Trader’s sell it?
I have both a Trader Joe’s and Costco within a stones throw from my house. If you could throw a stone about a block that is, and if you can’t …get off this site. How dare you.
I never go to Costco these days, since I don’t have an army of bears to feed…but I love Trader Joe’s. Right next door is a beverages and more…yeah that’s right. Good times.
