Does anyone else ever wonder how much time they spend doing stuff?
I’ve been doing like 1 hour of yard work twice a week for like 8 weeks now…so…I’d like to be able to look at how much time in total I spend doing yard work.
Same for like playing the guitar, studying a foreign language, etc.
I was thinking of a simple excel spreadsheet, but wondered if anyone else was as concerned about how they spend their time and if they have a system in place?

Look into quantified self. Basically a whole area covering what you’re looking into doing. Ray Kurizwiel and Tim Ferris are a couple well known people who are pretty hard into it. They go so far as to take scheduled blood tests to track and analyze how their bodies are responding to whatever new thing they’re subjecting themselves to. Probably a little more intense than what you’re looking into, but interesting and somewhat related.
A spreadsheet would work, imo an app or suite of apps could help quite a bit with automating some of the spreadsheet boringness. Argus seems to be alright, although there are a few out there to chose from. Enter the activity and track time or whatever is a pretty common format. I use argus pretty much for a pedometer only, but i think it is somewhat customizable for more activities and has a stopwatch as well. Then a decent mountain bike app by runtastic to track rides. All types of good info with that one.
Still haven’t found one that will export anything. That would be handy.
Instead of a spreadsheet, get a daytimer that breaks down by 15 min intervals.
you will record your activities rather than blowing off getting on the computer.

Agreed. Look up toggl. I tracked my behavior, down to the minute, for a month. Very revealing. Kind of like keeping a food log for the first time.

This would definitely not be something I’d want to spend time doing. Life is better when you live it rather than worrying about where your time is going.
I’d rather list some things I want to change or accomplish and go about doing them. If they are important (presumably I am at an age when I can work out what’s important) then the time spent is inconsequential.
