Alright guys so I got labs back, only thing I see that concerns me is bottomed-out aldosterone. Is that a problem or is that something that fluctuates?
I don’t understand how my lab values can look this good and I’m still getting anxiety and pulse problems… every morning I wake up in a slight panic with my heart beating quickly. Is this another thing I just have to ride out until 8 weeks? 24 hour anxiousness is not fun. If anyone has a story to share where this happened to them and then went away it would be great to hear.
The new doctor I saw was great at explaining things but of course when I tell him all this he says “testosterone wouldn’t do that” and prescribes me an ssri for anxiety and my “ocd”. At this point I may take it because I don’t know what else to do. It’s like doctors won’t even acknowledge that this is a possibility. I’m not even really reaping the benefits of the hormone at this time either, I just feel kind of scared all day
I would avoid the ssri at nearly any cost. Too many side effects
How long have you been on your current dose? Any recent changes?
No recent changes, 16mg per day with no ai. I started at 18mg and two weeks in dropped to 16mg.
At 16mg/day, my E2 dropped a ton to 20. I felt sooo emotionless. It was really odd.
I’ve since upped my dose to 30mg/day. Trying to push the free test up.
My e2 is at 32.5, I don’t feel emotionless but this tight chest and racing heart thing makes it impossible to focus on anything else. I’m taking beta blockers and clonazepam in the mornings and sometimes at night just to make it through the day. Trying to stick it out for six weeks but I haven’t really heard anyone having this same issue for that long
Sounds like when I take my armour thyroid med. Makes my heart beat fast most of the time. BUT, I’m low on T3, so I need the stuff.
Any encouragement here would be much appreciated. I had one day where I felt totally normal all day and got excited. However I knew it was probably too good to be true. Today I did my pin and I was fine most of the day up until 12 hours, on the dot, on a plane ride home. Got a warm flushing sensation in my body then my chest tightened up and got a bunch of anxiety. When does this end? Anybody else ever have something like this go on for five weeks?
I’m bummed because I’m trying so hard to stick this out but it’s making me so depressed and anxious. I haven’t worked out one bit since all this started. I don’t even know how this is possible as I easily had a 900 TT level 4 years ago. Nobody had any solid answers, including doctors and I just don’t understand. I feel like I’m waiting for the inevitable failure where I finally give up again and go back to being miserable in a different way. It’s not like I have any libido now anyways but damn everyone gets on TRT and does so well and it pisses me off
A specialist at what, sex hormones? I read my endo’s bio from top to bottom, it mentions thyroid, diabetes and metabolic disorders, but nowhere does it mention he is specializes in TRT.
There is no argument, 365 is low and your doctor is a mindless robot following his training in medical school–> in range is normal.
I’ve seen doctors split hairs when TT is 301, doctors believe at 299 symptoms are present, but not at 301.
In some of these cases FT is being completely ignored and no regard for SHBG levels.
Your TSH isn’t ideal. Try getting a full spectrum thyroid test. Go to discountlabs (dot) com and search full thyroid and you’ll have a list to bring to your doc. Can’t hurt.
What else am I missing from the thyroid panel? I tested negative for both antibodies earlier this year. I had reverse t3 measured the other day and it was 18 in a range of 8-25. From what I remember defy won’t even treat that till it’s above 19 so all seems good in the thyroid department.
On a side note, is there anywhere I can order a plasma catecholamines/metaphrines test online? I can’t find one anywhere and I want proof that my adrenaline or norepi is spiking and causing these symptoms. So that the next time I visit a doctor that will cut it with the “testosterone would never do that” bullshit
I only saw TSH on there but it sounds like you have it all covered. I’m trying to think what thread I read here that had plasma Catecholamines results posted. It could have been one of the long physiolojik threads but I know I saw somewhere here within the last year.
@enackers I remember seeing somewhere you switched to cream after having issues with injectables, can you elaborate more on that please? Any adrenaline rushes/anxiety/crazy heart rate on injectables before switching over?
I seem to be doing a tad bit better in the the anxiety department, however checking my heart rate today just sitting on the couch it would go 65bpm-75bpm-90bm then drop down and repeat all over again. Doesn’t feel good, and I checked after it recorded so i was not just watching this happen in real time which could have influenced it. Haven’t worked out because of this, too scary. I went to pump gas today and checked my Fitbit and I was at 118bpm just standing there. Please tell me you had something related to this which caused the switch
I switched to cream Becusse I switched docs. Injections didn’t work Becusse my thyroid was out of commission. Once I started t4/t3 meds itrt started to work on me. But then again injections libido wasn’t great and with cream it was immediate.
I did hear or another guy who said he switched oils from cotton to grape seed oil and allot of his symptoms went away. Have you tried a different cypionate with grape seed?
Try to cream it absorbs fast and it does not pass through the body like the injections or get stored for weeks. So maybe it’ll produce better effects . DHT is going to increase though.
Your thyroid tests should include free t3,t4 and tsh
I didn’t read through your history. Are you on any other meds? What’s your health like in terms of fat and lifestyle?
You should find a cardiologist who understands Trt is good for the CV and won’t blame it all on trt. There is an underlying issue here that Trt is potentially amplifying.
But first try cream or grape seed oil . You’ll need a good 3-6 weeks to see if that works. Essentially waiting for the other Ester to leave the body.
Did you exercise before this?
I recently found out I have mild dilated cardiomyopathy.
After I would exercise and get my hr to 150 or so even for 2 minutes, my hr would stay near 100 for hours.
I’ve tried cottonseed cypionate, grape seed enanthate and cypionate, and sesame enanthate (which I am currently on). Same problems with every single one. Cardiologist I’m currently with told me that too high T and too low are both bad and seemed alright with it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t abusing it. Thyroid labs from a week ago are posted further up in this thread. I’m at around 5 weeks on the same dose now, 16mg per day.
Currently my skin is flushed, still have chest tightness and my heart rate fluctuates constantly unless I stay perfectly still. Have not lifted a single weight since 4 weeks ago when all these symptoms began as it is hellishly uncomfortable. Am cortisol was mid range when checked with the thyroid a week ago. Aldosterone was near 0, not sure if that matters.
I’m at the end of my rope, just looking for any other potential solutions. Right now it seems my pick is either low t and feeling awful or normal t and feeling awful with heart problems. I’m 26, I don’t get why I’m having such ridiculous issues with this. Anxiety meds don’t touch the heart rate so I know it’s not just that
Should I get a DUTCH test?? Idk
I’m on clonazepam .5mg as needed, no other meds. Just that and enanthate. Before TRT I worked out 5-6 times a week, even though it was always a struggle. I’m 6’4” and 262 lbs and I have somewhat visible abs. Not sure of my exact body fat but estrogen is 32.5 on the sensitive test. DIM makes no difference in the feeling
I haven’t exercised one bit for fear of my heart exploding. I’ve had maybe two days out of the last 3 weeks where my chest isn’t tight and I’m having pulse issues.
I had been laying down watching tv for about two hours then got up to get food and gas. No running, no nothing. Heart checks out fine every time so it has to be hormonal
What’s the longest you went with these symptoms before switching protocols? Sounds like a pain in the ass. Stick when your dose. I know it’s he’ll but if the cardiologist says it’s not going to kill you I would give it 3-4 months to see if the body gets used to it.
I would contact Anthony Llabres he’s an expert in all types of issues that are unsolvable by sick care medicine
The other guy I’d see is Russ Scalia of Scala health precision.
Both have more insight into how the adrenals, receptors, and etc work. They can run the right tests to get into this. I would contact them first thing and get a free consultion to see if they have ever come across this issue. If they have I’d signup right away. If not; I still would signup since they’d take a totally diff approach than any doc can. Both are on trt and are very intelligent. I’d trust them with my life and have spoke to both at length. Great men.
It’s absolute hell. Another symptom I forgot to mention is constant diarrhea and stomach pain. Feels as though I’m starving but it’s also hard to eat. I’m essentially bedridden at this point when I don’t have to be at work. Pure panic hell. This shit NEVER happens off TRT. Always two weeks or so after I start.
I haven’t made it to six weeks with any protocol yet unfortunately, this will be the first time. I’m determined to at least get there. I’m just slowly starting to doubt that all this is going to go away within a week to a week and half. A couple milligrams of test really should not make such a difference.
It feels like I’m injecting poison at this point. Everyone says you need test but my body just seems to hate it so much.
I will definitely look into those two, thank you for the advice. I really appreciate all the help because any time I speak to a doctor about this they make me feel crazy
