Too much oatmeal?

Is it possible to eat too much oatmeal. For my P+C meals (not including post workout) I usually end up eating oatmeal. On days on don’t work out, I sometimes eat 4-5 cups of oatmeal. Is this a problem?

It’s probably not a bad idea, but I think it would be better to throw in some variety, especially in the way of carby veggies like carrots.

It depends on your goals. Are you bulking, maintaining, or cutting? Are you closely monitoring your carb intake? By 4-5 cups of oatmeal, do you mean 4-5 cups of cooked or dry-measure oats? How many calories daily are you consuming?

Currently I am bulking. I’m consuming 4500kcal following the massive eating protocol. And while I don’t purposely try to eat 4-5 cups (dry measure) of oatmeal per day, it happens more than twice times a week. I also eat plenty of veggies, fruit, brown rice, nuts, animal, and oils.

Is too much oatmeal still a concern? If it is I’ll just be sure to have brown rice ready to eat.

Eat your oatmeal and be happy.

Clinpatty, carrots are moderately high glycemic.

I don’t know of any oatmeal-overdose health repercussions. Only possible prob I see is that oatmeal has about 3g fat per serving, which is more fat in your P+C meals than if you were to substitute fruit, veggies or brown rice as a carb source instead of oatmeal.

Well, at 4500 calories, you’re probably getting some other carbs, but I’d try to mix in some beans, legumes, veggies, fruit and other whole grains and not totally rely on oatmeal.
