Too Much Oatmeal Possible?

I have 2-3 cups of oatmeal every morning (blended into the hardgainer breakfast: 2-3 cups raw rolled oats, 1 cup cottage cheese, a few scoops of protein powder, some blueberries, some spinach if i’m in the mood, and a bit of creatine. Credit to Chad Waterbury for the idea/recipe) and it’s surprisingly easy to get down. Whenever I cook my oats, I struggle very hard to get past the 1 cup mark, and rarely make it to 1.5.

I see oats as a perfect carb source, low gi, cheap as hell, and easy to get down mass quantities.

Is there any harm in adding another 2-3 cup oat serving later in the day, bringing my oat total to 4-6 cups. Is that a reasonable amount?

I just can’t say no to 800 grams of low gi carbs for 2 bucks!

Shouldn’t think so, but then too much of a good thing… i normally have one and a half cup of oats with cold skimmed milk and topped with sunflower/pumpkin seeds and a drizzlin of honey for brekkie. I know for sure i would struggle to eat that amount if i cooked it, it just too stodgy for me and to clean the pot after is a biatch!

me neither. good choice. so long as you consume plenty of water and don’t get “plugged up” … go for it!

Bastard

I would try to get them in b4 noon if possible and focus on more protein, vegetables and essential fats later in the day.check doc Lowery when he is on and read his current article

I’m in a ‘balls to the wall’ bulking phase. I think this justifies a very high (but low gi) carb diet, no?

Dude i just cant eat my oats raw, blended in a Grow! shake. It tears me a new one. I usually cook a large batch of it and store it in the fridge, and then just dump a few scoops in my Grow! shake of cooked oatmeal.

I tried this once, but didn’t stop to think of how long it takes to cook 10 cups of oats. Then the pot was a mess to clean. How fresh is it from being in the fridge all week long?

Uhhh I just stick my oats in a bowl…add splenda and stick it in the micro. No prob.

I’d keep a food log if I were you. 800 grams of carbs is a shit ton.

Fresh enough man, its oatmeal its not like it has a whole ton of nutrients that lose potency over a week, its basically a bunch of low glycemic carbs and fiber, that stays good forever.

I cook a large bowl, not sure of the exact servings, and store it in a snap shut bowl. Does the trick. Couple scoops of cold oatmeal in the Grow! shake gives me the extra fiber/calories/carbs I need.

I blend mine in a blender raw then I add my protein and water…

I have had no problems whats so ever and its easy to get lots of clean carbs in withing a short time.

Oh, i’m not getting that per day, I’m getting about 300-350 g a day, with about 200-250 g of my carb intake being raw roll ed oats.

I just meant one 42 oz. container has 800 g of carbs, and only costs two bucks. Good deal, price wise.

no problems there.
maybe I’m maso but I cook up and eat
1.5 - 2 cups every morning and the same about four hours later, about an hour after a protein shake.

typical morning for me:
30 minutes of morning cardio 4-6 times a week (if cutting up)
1 scoop Low-Carb Grow!
1 scoop Biotest Surge,or 25 grams of sugar

hour later
five-six egg white, one whole egg
1.5 - 2 cups of cooked oats
20g sugar (only on day with morning cardio)

three hours later
1.5 scoops of Low-Carb Grow!

hour later
1.5 -2 cups cooked oats cooled
with 1 - 2 scoops of Low-Carb Grow!

the rest of the day is pretty much no carb except post work-out
in case you’re wondering that about 144 - 118 grams of protein before 1 pm.
just another 3 meals and 100 - 120 grams to go, and you thought ~250 grams of protein a day was hard
