Too Many Trolls

True. And it’s not my thread either. It was one of Headhunter’s threads.

It was fun while it lasted.

That one WAS fun: atheists had to sign off on the notion of being eternally in the chewing jaws of Satan forever. Only Pookie took the pledge. Gotta admire him for the courage of his convictions…though what good that courage will do him WHEN…

Really? I’m sorry I missed it. I’ve pledged things like that many, many times.

Anyway, I think this thread has gotten out of hand. Now we just have another “Libs v Cons” thread that just circles itself endlessly.

Anyone wanna just stop it now, before this extends another ten pages?

The “government” doesn’t veto anything. The President vetoes. By the way, GWB has the fewest vetoes of any President in the last 100 years. Some people debate using facts and “papers” as you state, some debate out of emotion. If using references makes someone a “piece of dog shit”…well I don’t know what to say to that.

Yes, but doesn’t he (by far) have the most “signing statements” that he amends to bills, in the process making the people who introduced the bill not pass it?

Once again, another cherry picking of historical facts to make one side look good. President finds a way to defeat bills without a veto, so you harp on the fact that he has very few vetos. Funny, right?

WTF!!! Someone brings up a generalized, un-researched accusation about “government” vetoes…I share the actual FACTS, and now I’M the one “cherry picking historical facts”? Give me a break. That’s weak.

Go back to the “Impeach Bush” drawing board and draft up another unfounded attack. Try again later.
Yes, the actual FACT is that president Bush has very vew vetoes to his name.

The actual CONTEXT of that FACT is that he found other ways to defeat bills he did not want to pass, without use of a veto.

So its dishonest to simply say “President Bush has the fewest vetoes of any president” KNOWING FULLY THAT saying only this will give people the impression that “There have been very few bills that President Bush has stopped”. And to say you aren’t being knowingly dishonest in your presentation would be a lie.

So, yes, in picking out one FACT and ignoring other PERTINENT factors surronding said FACT, you are, indeed, cherry picking whatever FACTS support your argument and ignoring everything else.

“Durrrh, hii, mah names Zap. I’m gonna make a thread bitching about a lack of serious liberal posters, then continue name calling liberal posters. I’m fucking s-m-r-t.”

Do you actually think you speak for the intelligent posters here?

Your kind of crap is part of the problem.

I wouldn’t expect you to understand.

So lets get this straight:

Step one: Conservative posters use strawman arguments and insults against liberal posters, till liberal posters no longer want to take the abuse (and explain that they dont hate america and arent evil and don’t support terrorist and other nonsense they should never even have to address in the first place) and stop frequenting the forum.

Step two: Oblivious conservative poster complains about lack of “serious” liberal posters.

Step three: Other poster points out WHY there is a lack of “serious liberal” posters.

Step four: Other protester is called a troll and part of the problem.

I’m shocked, really. Really really.

Step five: Mr part of the problem still doesn’t get it.

Step six: Mr part of the problem adds another insulting post that contributes nothing to the forum.
Why don’t you quit trolling people who answer your thread?

Step seven: You realize that “Hey, maybe if I wasn’t such a troll myself…”

nevermind. sorry. that one isnt going to happen.

Fact: Bush vetoed very few bills (if only he did…)

Signing statements are used to qualify bills after they are passed.

Merely complaining “Bush vetoed a bunch!” is meaningless - first of all, it’s not true, and secondly, when he did veto, he was within his constitutional power to do so.

If you want to complain, complain about what Bush vetoed - if you have it in you.

And by the way, arguments aren’t really supplemented by CAPS LOCK - you don’t come off as SMARTER by USING IT.

You heretic… :frowning:

A troll is a fearsome member of a mythical anthropomorph race from Scandinavia. Their role ranges from fiendish giants ? similar to the ogres of England ? to a devious, more human-like folk of the wilderness, living underground in hills, caves or mounds. In Orkney and Shetland tales, trolls are called trows, adopted from the Norse language when these islands were settled by Vikings.

Ah, that explains a lot. I have viking in me.

I stated fact, you spin a web of conspiracy with ZERO proof. What do you mean he found “other ways” to defeat bills? Give me some facts, not theories. What loopholes did he use to bypass the whole veto thing? And assuming the worst, do you believe he is the first to do so? Again, your argument is weak.

Yeah, fictional characters really terrify me.

Although there was a lot of pussyfooting around on that thread, which I found rather interesting. People pledging to Thor or Zeus and rewording the pledge in various way.

It was, as you like to say, fascinating. I’m sure we would’ve had more takers eventually, but it died while still in infancy.

Is anyone aware of any other thread ever being limboed in such a way?

Yeah, I do all the boring work and you get to laugh.

I used to get really weird PMs during those threads. People asking me for my real name so that they could pray for me (guess God doesn’t do reverse IP lookups); people telling me about dreams they had about me where I suffered horrible deaths or contracted fun diseases like cancer or had heart troubles. 20-pages long, hate-filled diatribes involving me, my mom and probably the rest of my ancestors and descendants.

Not much in the way of love and forgiveness, unfortunately. Only a few individuals, such a you haney1, seemed to actually get the message Jesus had for his believers. The ratio is sadly hugely in favor of the weirdo nuts.
