She has been training for some years doing “regular” (pardon me ladies) training. (sissy weights)
after she met me she stated lifting heavy in the 5-4 rep range. she went up very quickly but got stuck. I had her cycle her weight, not train to failure and doing a taper weeks but too no avail. now she is dieting but I remembered that when I dieted as a beginner I still gained strength…
it realy seems to me something - either estrogen related or psychological as she seems to be “afraid” of bodyweight and up weights.
The only hting I didnt try is a high volume program and I think will as soon as she finishes dieting.
her nutrition is excelent btw although she does tend to undereat, what can I do…
I would not advise a high volume program yet. Also, do not train for every session as if you need to increase the weight.
As long as she continues to undereat, expect very little results in strength gains. Or, no strength gains at all.
For most women, it is a mental fear of gaining muscle, ie. “bulk” that holds them back. Which is why many undereat, don’t eat enough protein, or sabotage any possible strength gains.
For most people, it’s a fear that by gaining strength, muscle it eliminates the “joy” of “working out”. You know, since “working out” should be a stress-free, easy going, “fun” activity. And by continuing striving for goals, you pretty much make it more like “work”.
What Patricia said. Also, even if she doesn’t want to eat “more”, she might be able to jump-start her strength gains by having a greater percentage of her macronutrients come from protein. I.e., if she’s 40-30-30 now, try 50-25-25.
