BONEZ217 - it is NOT easy to pull off that shit in Sweden. I’ve friend who works at the police and I talked about it with him just few hours ago. Someone went OUT OF HIS WAY to make this happen. Or Tony bought some cannabis from the locals or something.

This is a stupid ass thing to do for a lot of reason:

 • Bad PR for the entire country
 • Let’s arrest every soccer, hockey, track&field player on suspicion.

It is really easy to poke this sub-culture as anabolic is a part of it. It is part of every sport expect some freakin shit like curling, but in BB it is more obvious.

“Hey, we don’t want our kids to have Tony as a hero”.

Incompentecy of that cop or departament is out of this world…
Wait…if he broke the law, they would be flashing his illegal act all over as justification. They didn’t. They let him go after humiliating him publicly. Had they had something, they could have detained him.

Yeah, it does make Sweden look bad. Maybe this cop should have thought of that ahead of time.

They arrested him BECAUSE he was a pro bodybuilder. Maybe they ASSUMED he would have drugs on him. Either way, I hope everyone boycotts the country if this is allowed to fly.

I don’t see anyone from Sweden getting detained here for no reason.

You only get a fine for minor narcotics crimes, eg having used drugs, so of course Freeman was let go after he admitted to havibg used Test, HGH and Cannabis. We´ll have to wait and see if the prosecutor wants to go further with the case. Thousands of people get punished for having used drugs in sweden every year. It is a crime to use drugs here and a urine or bloodsample is all the evidence that is needed for a conviction.

BTW: The police assumed that he had used drugs because he was a pro BB and they were right. Last year the police also assumed that swedish Mr Olympia competitor KjellstrÃ?¶m had used drugs and the urinesamples showed that they were right. KjellstrÃ?¶m got some fines for having used and possesed anabolics. This year KjellstrÃ?¶m got caught with not only using but also selling steroids and will probably get a decent prison sentence…
Like has been stated many times, it is LEGAL to use steroids in America WITH a prescription. This would be like arresting some old woman for “narcotics” because she had Tylenol III in her system after surgery. If they are simply arresting people for using some drugs without taking this into consideration, then the Swedish cops need to makeover their practices.

This makes as much sense as arresting some guy who is 38 years old, but uses testosterone for HRT and lifts weights for bodybuilding…or worse yet, simply arresting any really big guy they see.

Claiming that someone who has won WSM is natty in a comp that doesnt test except for pre contest is crazy.

There is no offseason WSM testing.

I have no idea if Phister is natural or not but I wouldnt ASSUME he is, for any reason. Why would he be natural? Because he’s a firefighter??
I seem to remember both Phister and Samuelson claiming to be natural, whatever that is worth.

They won’t admit that.

I wonder if the IFBB or Cutler’s sponsors would try to get him out of trouble if anything happened. He IS Mr. Olympia after all (tony is insignificant by comparison, so is the swedish guy mentioned above), he is generating plenty of income for magazines, supp company(ies) and so on.

Then again, Sweden is not the U.S. … They probably don’t have all that much clout there and things are handled differently (I have no idea) ?

Poor Tony though… I wonder what effect this will have on his career, if any. I hope the IFBB and co won’t go for the P.C. solution…

Physique-wise I don’t have any reason to doubt them.

Looks alone aren’t that great an indicator though… Unless we’re talking about very extreme physiques…

It doesn’t matter. Someone somewhere will assume anyone with any real size on them is on drugs…therefore, judging by some of the lame responses here, anyone over 250lbs should be either arrested or subjected to immediate search and seizure…you know, for Freedom’s sake.

I like to believe them if for no other reason than to remove my own excuses.

What a comparison

I think what bothers me the most is that HGH, Test, and other compounds are just fine and legal as long as you have a doctor’s prescription for them.

But hey, lets bust the BIG BLACK and EVIL AMERICAN for them.

I’d be interested to know if there are any sportsmen/women that have been caught out in this game of testing yet, have any info on that?
A Hockey goalie that played for one of Swedens biggest teams got busted and convicted for using steroids. He got a fine from the court and a 3 year suspension from the hockey comission if I remember correctly. A former Swedish national soccer goalie got a fine for using steroids after his soccer career…

If I were a Pro BB I’d avoid Sweden. If you being on the juice and doing strongman is okay, why is juicing in BBing not okay?
Just as a side point, Magnus Samuelsson may not be on steroids. In professional Strong Man, use is of course wide-spread, but since Strong Men don’t have to worry about being super-ripped and symmetrical, there are naturals even at the top.
Phil Phister would be a prominent example.
Good point… A lot of the guys constantly screaming about how others use steroids rather than giving credit where it’s due or getting motivated don’t seem to be doing too hot for themselves in the progress department, by any sane standard…

Don’t know enough about strongman performance to make any comments on that though.

Both the swedish athletes that I mentioned in my prior post were white. So was swedish HW K1 kickboxer Jörgen Kruth who also got pulled in by the police for looking like a steroiduser. Kruths urinesample showed positive for steroids and he was convicted for it. Race had zero to do with it…

Thanks for the info on those two, starting to think this is less of a big deal. If thats how a country works, theres a clear solution to not getting busted.

No shit.

Throwing around terms like illegal search and seizure or probable cause is silly if those concepts do not exist in Sweden. Unless people actually KNOW Swedish law and their applicable legal standards, why automatically assume that the police violated Freeman’s rights?
