Ok, so the above has nothing to do with training, but it has everything to do with why I have not posted any of my sessions in a week.

EDIT: well, a few days anyway. My sense of time is going apparently.

WARNING: LONG ASS MEGA POST OF TRAINING

The real democratic idea is, not that every man shall be on a level with every other, but that every one shall have liberty, without hindrance, to be what God made him. – Henry Ward Beecher

Training has been in the dumpster lately, but I am down 10 pounds or so from approx. 5-6 weeks ago. Perhaps this has something to do with it. Weight is sitting at 285 now. 10 more to the 275s. 14 down from my October bloat of 299.

VIDEO:

1/30/10

Push press and stuff.

warmups: usual.

Barx15
95X10
135X6
225X5

Work sets:

245X5
260X5
275X7 in the video. This felt like deep fried shit. Should not have locked out at the top or walked the damn thing half a mile out of the stand. Eh.

DB clean and jerk from the floor, one hand only. Each arm for the same number of reps.

50X5
75X5
100X5
125X1 per hand. My hips got real damn tight and my shoulders were pretty fatigued here. I wasn’t sure where I stood with this movement so I did a lot of lightish sets. I think next shoulder day I may only do the prescribed 5-3-1 reps on the BB push press and warm up properly to give the 150 a go.

Diz rows:
alotXalot

Band pull aparts and such.

15 minutes of cardio. Incline walking.

1/31/11

Sled work. A picture is in the video I think.

2/1/11

Squats:

normal warmups:

barX15
135X8
225X5
315X3
360X3
385X3
405X8 for 2 sets. I felt kinda pissed that I only got 8 reps on teh first set, so I did it twice. In retrospect, squating 24 hours after sled work probably was not my most intelligent decision.

Power squat thingy.

5 45s per side for 3 sets of 10. I tried to face out on this thing like a hack squat, but my feet kept sliding on the foot plate. Fuck it.

Average Band G.M.

3X10

Some other folks wanted to use the squat rack so I let them and gave myself a break from RDLs. This led to me spending 30 minutes or so working with them on technique with their squats and then deadlifts. They were good folks, and all, however relative newcomerrs in the gym need a bit of guidance sometimes. Don’t be afraid to help people when you can.

Leg press calf raises:

someXalot. I think 4 plates a side for several sets of 20. My feet are letting me train calves now for some reason, so I might as well.

Standing abbzzz work.

2/2/11

Bench.

Normal warmups, except that I forgot my hot pink. Dammit.

barX20
135X10
225X5

Work sets:

315X3
335X3
355X8 ish. Dammit. I thought I had more in me. Also, balance and bar path were a bit off. Rarely do I bitch about people in the gym, but apparently, “do not touch the bar unless I fail” means my spotter should wiggle his fingers directly under the bar and fuck with my vision. Eh, I got a decent enough lift off at least and I have no illusions of locking out rep 9. I was gassed at that point.

Board presses:

225X5 to a 3 board
225X5 to a 2 board(rest were to a 2 board also)
315X3
405X2 This felt weird as shit. Board work is something that I must get used too.

DB incline:

100sX5
125sX5
150sX5 for 2 sets.

I did not feel like setting up barbell rows at this point. My give a damn might be broken. So, DB rows.

100X10 per arm. I though on doing 3 sets of 10, then said fuck it and did
100X20 per arm.

Neutral grip DB floor press:

100sX10
100sX7 for 2 sets.

METAL:

EDIT: ok, was not as long as I thought it would be.

Good stuff Dove.

Some pretty strong benching in here. I too have had the misfortune of being spotted by douches who cant keep their fucking fingers off the bar while shouting out trademarked youtube bodybuilding slogans.

Deat,

Thanks man.

HallikFrank,

Thanks for the kind words. I sometimes just don’t quite know what makes people do certain things. Oh well, it beats no lift off at all I suppose.

Hope all is well with ya Dove. Hope you’re not too distracted by the new big screen.

Where you at brother?

Hope you’re doing well and keeping up the solid training, Dove! Where you at?

Yeah Dove. I miss your videos in the BOI which always end up making me feel as weak as a 10 year old lol.

I agree Dove! Hope all is well with you. Like sam, I miss you benching more than 3 plates per side for reps like its 135!

Ok… so about 3 months later… yeah life and its associated shit got kinda busy. Sorry for being MIA and what all. So, tax season is over, in the midst of it I somehow managed to get the state board to license me as a CPA in Texas. Pretty happy about that, it for fucks sake took long enough.

Anyway, I have kept up the training. Bodyweight is down to 267 in the mornings now. I’m still a lard-ass and have no illusions to the conrtary, but I am a smaller lard-ass now. Lifts are doing ~ok~ at the moment. Here’s a video of some of the more important stuff I have done recently:

Also, I managed to break my old camera, and had to replace it. The new ones editing software is…frustrating.

holy damn son, where have you been?

Glad to hear you got all that shit taken care of, now lets see you get back at it so I can shamelessly steal your lifts and rename them.

Btw, props to you, I took your advice and have gone nuts with the RDL’s, slow negative and explosion through lockout, pulled 575 a few weeks ago, and am chasing 600 and 625 (desired max in coan cycle right now).

Great to have you back in here and in the BOI. Still some real strong lifts there and you’re definitely looking leaner. Congrats on the license and the weight loss.

“Sometimes, life kicks you in the face, and the only thing you can do is kick it right the fuck back.” – Me on a rather shitty day today.

Training:

Video:

Woke up at 6:00 A.M. and did some fasted cardio. This consisted of hill sprints and steady state jogging for around 40 minutes or so. Oddly enough, I am actually enjoying this. Helps to get the day started.

P.M. around 7ish: Push press night.

BarX a bunch
95X12
135X8
The above were all strict presses.

Push press:
225X5
275X3
315X3(ugly)
315X3(uglier yet)
275X5 not that ugly, but still far from pretty. Gotta re-learn this movement. First time back to it in a few months, so I should have expected this.

135X12 strict reps for 2 sets.

Lean away lateral raise:

someX a bunch

Bent over rear delt raise:

some X a bunch

Neutral grip DB incline tri press, or NGDBTP(how’s that for abbreviation and shit :))

50sX10
75sX10
100sX10

Bicep curlzzzz

some X some, its fucking curlzzz.

Ok night I guess. I’ve got a good bit of form work to do with these.

Well, busy season was busy season. Have also been dealing with some outside of the gym BS and what not. Shit’s under control though. And yeah, its nice to be back. Hopefully I won’t go off the grid again for a while.

Dude, that is kickass on the deadlifting PRs. Always happy to help, and am glad that my rambling was usefull. Keep kicking ass brother.

Many thanks Sam. The weight loss is still a work in progress though. The license, well, lets say I have had my fill of that crap for a while.

Thanks and yeah, things roll along as best they can. Its good to be back though, and thanks again for the kind words.

Still in Bryan/College Station. Things are going well enough though, and thanks for stopping in.

Thanks for stopping in dude. The big screen is a welcome distraction when I let it be.

Dude, you are KILLING IT. You are looking much better, and those lifts are fucking boss. You handle 315 like nobody’s business on those push presses.

Glad to have you back man. Once I’m back to gaining, you are giving me some lifts to shoot for.
