Dude, you are KILLING IT. You are looking much better, and those lifts are fucking boss. You handle 315 like nobody’s business on those push presses.
Glad to have you back man. Once I’m back to gaining, you are giving me some lifts to shoot for.
Many thanks for the kind words man. I feel like I need a few more sessions before the barbell push press feels “normal” again. DBs were fun and all, but it was time to leave them.
Out of curiousity, I seem to recall you being in Austin correct? I am seriously thinking about doing a USPF meet there in about a month. You at all interested in being a phattass powerlifter for a day?
Yeah man I’m in Austin for now. Graduating from UT in May, and after that, god knows what will happen.
If i’m in town and not busy, I’ll definitely come to the meet, at least for a bit. I’ll be in the final weeks of my diet then, so I don’t think participating would be the wisest thing.

Congrats on graduating man. Best of luck finding work now though. I swear, our age group picked the WORST time to enter the work force in 20 years or so.
Yeah, see, I don’t think too much about dieting and all that jazz, yet anyway. That is a good call on the meet.
Just echoing what others are saying in that it’s good to have you back around here. You’re a beastly sumbitch and your lifts are always killer. Keep killing it.
Looks like you psyched yourself out on that 405 brother. That first rep looked like it was going for a triple. Congrats on the license. My buddy’s wife is a CPA in Houston and she stacks. They’ve actually given her an 8k raise every year for 4 straight years, which is pretty badass.
Deat, thanks for the kind words friend. Though, your current physique pics are giving me some pretty serious motivation.
Inky, thanks man. I’ll do my best to not bug out again any time soon.
WhiteFlash, yeah, I probably did. I have this odd thing with certain weights screwing with my mind pre lift. I am not sure I would have been good for a triple at that weight, but the mental aspect was a factor. Sadly, I have not landed a situation like she has. Eh, maybe in the future.

This isn’t uncommon, especially when it’s a poundage that’s x number of plates only, or a multiple of 100. Strong enough physically sometimes gets beat mentally.
Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. – Sir Winston Churchill

Squats and shit. This night just felt like a rep sort of night. I’m going to avoid hitting anything heavier than a 5 rep max for a while on just about every movement. We shall see what this does.
Warm ups: Stretches, jumps, some pull ups, band good mornings, band pull aparts etc…
Squats:
BarX 15
135X8
225X8
315X3
405X8
405X8
315X8
These felt good on the whole. Left a few in the tank on each set with 405.
RDL:
225X5
315X5
405X5
455X5 Called things here. Felt pretty good.
Grey band ab pull downs:
3X20
Thats it. Get in, get shit done and get out kind of night.

Totally agree with this. Its something I have to work on.

Start doing heavy reverse band squats, bench, and pulls. Done correctly, it will definitely help you mentally with those heavy sets, because you have literally held that weight in your hands/rested it on your back

Thanks for the tip man. And yes, they seem to have done wonders for your lifts. I think those will be my next big experiment in a bit. I don’t think I’ll add them in until I finnish this whole dropping weight thing. I’d like to slowly make my way down to somewhere in the mid-low 250s. So at my current rate, this will be a month or two off. Its for sure on the back of my brain now though.

ha I dont know about the done wonders part, I chalk that up more to weight gain and better technique

You ain’t the only one brother. It’s a tough world right now. But, be thankful you’re in Texas. From what I’ve seen the rest of the country’s in a much rougher position. That and Texas is Texas, so it has that going for it.
SLed work and conditioning stuff. Went to the park after work and ran sprints, sled drags, sled pulls/rows with ropes, and other assorted stuff. Nothing ground breaking, I just made sure to keep moving in one fashion or another for 90 minutes.

Truely spoken. This little patch of Texas would be doing one hell of a lot better if we got some rain though.

4/30/11: Bodyweight is at 263-264 in the mornings now. Bench training, and some impromtu tire flipping. My gym randomly had some dude drop off a couple of old tires. Flipping them was not planned, but it was pretty cool. I now think I know what my main auxillary will be on deads/squat day.
Video:
Warmups: stretches, blue heat, pull ups, various band pull aparts and presses, yadda yadda…
bench:
barX25
135X10
225X8
275X5
315X12 About 35Lbs down from my heaviest and I have lost 2 reps on my 315 rep max. Not exactly sure how I feel about this.
Incline DB press:
100sX5
100sX5 I was really just playing with the incline angle here.
150sX6
150sX6
Enter the new tires. Add to this the fact that my gym now has a sledge hammer, and things are looking up.

Checking in here, nice work.
What DF said about the reverse band lifts is very true. Also just not thinking about the total weight works for me.
Thinking I may drop body weight after my meet in June, looking for tips and what works for you.
Thanks for stopping in dude. Your point about not thinking about the weight is something that I will have to try. Just may work.
It’s worked for me in the past. Put 10-30 lbs (or whatever) on top of your last attempt and worry about adding the total weight up once you’ve done the rep, meanwhile trying not to add it up in your head before the attempt. Could be more difficult for you since you’re solo training and don’t have good spotters, plus I assume I’m not as math-y as you.
