I give this log a rating of 5000 stars!
Way to come back and get that 600! Tough to do that physically and mentally!
Deat, thanks bud. Trying to not suck.
Scj119, thanks dude. More of a grind than I wanted, but I will take it.
Spock81, thank you very much. 5,000?? I’ve never had that many of anything before!!!
Kalle, yeah, the mental part of it was honestly much more difficult than the physical. Missing weights screws with your head. I was able to overcome it this time.
^ Platform nearly finnished. There is some excess matt to be cut off from around the edges and a logo to be added to the wood center, but all else is done. Black Rhino Lining was used to cover the wood center. Actually feels incredibly stable.

HELL YEAH, NEW GHR!!!
Strong lifts, man. That opener looked pretty crispy!
OHHH, see I thought you HAD to have your full foot flat on the floor for it to count in a meet. That isn’t a rule with your federation, no?
Maybe I should try benching like that. My leg drive sucks…
You are so good at stuff and things.

Different federations have different rules. Just check with whatever fed you are lifting in.
TheTexican, thanks bud. I’m hoping it goes that crisply(is this a word?) on meet day.
Spock81, Dixie is correct. Each federation has its own rules on acceptable technique, equipment allowed, time limits, and many other things. The meet I am doing is hosted by the Metroflex Strength Association(MSA). The meet is all raw, belt and wrist wraps only.
I’ve found that benching on my toes with my feet ver far under me gives me the most stability, and helps me keep my arch. Its not a bad technique if you are looking to try something new.
3/6/12 Deadlift. Last day lifting before the meet.
VIDEO:
Stretching, jumps, band work, and so on.
Deadlifts:
135X10
225X5
315X5
405X3
495X1
575X1 <— well, my hips shot up waaaaay to damn fast(the bar did not even move and my hips were already sky high), but otherwise the weight felt light. Not bad for a stiff leg deadlift I guess. Anyway, I believe I had a bit too much rebound from diveing down to the bar. I’m going to have to pay special attention to this during warmups.
Leg press:
someX8 for 6 sets. Very little rest.
GHR hanging leg raise combo set:
3X8 each.
Done. On the whole a decent night. My hips rising that quickly is just going to be in the back of my mind until the meet. Oh well, I will just have to get over it and do shit right.
WIll open on bench at 385, second lift is planned for 400, and third will be based on how 400 feels. Would love to get 425 and tie my old lard ass PR.
WIll open on the deadlift with 575. Second lift is planned for 600, and the third will be based on how 600 feels. Would like 625 or more, but that may not be realistic.
Overall goal is for a 1,000 LB or more 2 lift total in the 242s. Bodyweight has been moving between 238 - 241, so I am right where I want to be and will not do anything weird with my diet, aside from a phat carb up the night before.
Yeah, I think I invented crispy with regards to lifting. Basically smooth, crisp, and easy.
I like MSA meets; usually really laid back but still strong competition and decent judging. Will probably do another one later in the year.

^ Current hill that I use for hill sprints. From the water to the top is about 30-40 yards I estimate.
Currently, deloading prior to the meet is going well. I have ran the hill and walked twice each, and been doing various band work most days. Feeling pretty good at the moment.
3 days out.

Good to know. Any idea which one you plan on doing later in the year? Once you get back to the states if you are ever in the Irving/DFW airport area and what to lift, let me know.

I have no idea. There’s usually one around October. Whichever that is.
I’m from the north west area of Ft. Worth. I’m in that area a lot when I’m back.
Kill it brother
GOOD LUCK!! Can’t wait to hear all about it!!

Tear it up brother!
I had a dream about your meet last night, it was weird.
I can’t really remember much, but I know I woke up feeling creepy, Lol.
^ Meet results.
VIDEO:
Meet was scheduled for 6 P.M. on St. Patricks Day. On Friday afternoon of the 16th at about 4 I got off of work, drove to the gym and weighed in at 239.75. Perfect. I should note that I did absolutely nothing to make weight. No fancy water manipulation or any other shit.
For whatever reason, I decided a carb up was in order. So, I got home, made a 2LB batch of puppy shit(consisted of half a tub of crunchy peanut butter, half a jar of all natural pure honey, and 2.5 scoops of chocolate protein powder). The portions of each ingrediant used here were actually determined by what I could fit inside of my tupperware container. I ate half of that, then orderd Dominos: 2 medium two topping pizzas, 1 with pepperoni and italian sausage, and one with extra cheddar cheese and hammburger, and one of those bags of cheassey bread balls. Consumed half of each pizza, most of the bread balls, and drank half a gallon of whole milk.
Fell into a carb induced coma.
Woke up Sat. morning at 11:30, drank one of those cheap energy drinks, and ate the rest of the pizza. Sat around the house, snaked on the puppy shit, and stretched here and there. Drank another energy drink at about 2:30. Packed up my gear and went to the gym at 4:30. Got there, checked in and started stretching, foam rolling and generally warming up. Drank 2 more energy drinks during this time. I ran out of spike cans so had to make due with the generic stuff.
Lifters meeting started a bit late cause the head judge was running late, but whatever.
Warmups:
Bench:
barX30
135X8
225X5
275X3
315X1
Bench:
385X1 flew off my chest. 3 whites.
400X1 slightly slower, but felt very strong and locked it out easy. 3 whites. Bench goal met.
425X0 Took the weight down just fine, then lost tightness mid way up, and the bar drifted back towards my head, no lift. I think I was a bit over ambitious here and may have been good for 415.
Deadlift:
Warmups:
135X8
225X5
315X3
Done.
575X1 easy peasy. 3 whites.
600X1 A little slower, but still felt strong. 3 whites.
625X0 Again, I got overly ambitious. I might have had 615 in me.
Push/Pull total of 1,000. Pretty happy with that.
For comparrison, my last meet I weighed in at 294.5, squated 500, benched 425, and deadlifted 550. So, after about 1 year and 4 months and 55LBs less bodyweight, benched dropped by only 25LBs, and Deadlift increased by 50LBs.
Comparrison video from Nov. of 2010.
If work allows, I plan on doing the SPF Longhorn Classic in Carrollton on April 7th. Year end close for our company is April 1st through the 6th though. It will likely be a day of the meet decision, as things are always hectic for us during close. I will do the meet if I am not required to work. If I do this meet, I can hopefully not be retarded about my 3rd attempts.
Other notes: This was a rather small meet. Had 12 total lifters. The pace of this was very fast. Many of the lifters were deadlift only. I think there were 7 benchers total, so we were done benching in about 40 minutes. The deadlift went by in about 60 minutes or so. This was by far the fastest paced meet I have seen. Not really complaining, but it did test my conditioning a bit.
