“If we take the generally accepted definition of bravery as a quality which knows no fear, I have never seen a brave man. All men are frightened. The more intelligent they are, the more they are frightened.” – George S. Patton
Turned into a rather crappy session. I have some adjusting to do with overhead day I think.
VIDEO:
Messed around with some complexes.
Worked up to:
226X 3 deadlifts, 3 high pulls, 3 push presses.
3 high pulls, 1 CL&J from the hang.
226X3,1
256X3,1
276X3,1
291X3,1
316X FAIL Did the 3 high pulls then couldn’t clean it. Reset everything, and was able to clean it, but did not have the push press left. Explanation below.
Once I sat down(after the failed set) and thought about it, a lot of it made sense. Upper back, hamstrings, and glutes were rather fatigued from DL day last time. I think I am going to loose my straps once I get up to 270+ in weight for these and just do singles. While they make rep work from the hang possible, it feels like they are srewing with my grip once I catch the weight. Time for them to go. I will probably just do more rep work in the 226-256 range. I for some unkown reason, thought it would be a good idea to experiment with a lower catch. This is something I want to do and will continue working on, but its going to need a lot of work it looks like. I just felt generally fatigued also.
So, not thinking about any of this before hand led me to think it was a great night to try and hang clean and press more weight than I ever have before, while doing 3 high pulls with said weight just before the clean. To say that I should’ve done something different is an understatment. Just call me captain hind-sight.
On the bright side, My Do-Wins came in and are fucking awesome.
Seated DB press:
50sX 10
75sX 10
100sX 5
140sX nadda… got them into place and knew nothing was happening.
100sX10 for 3 sets.
Cable bi/tri work:
someXsome.
