Thanks my friend. They really don’t feel like toothpicks though… but I have seen the handles snap like toothpicks when the less experianced lifters drop them from lockout(after the obligatory brosef spot) Doesn’t look good.

Hey there! Your training is badass yo! I saw you drove to plano last year I live right near there!!!
Thanks very much.
yes I did. The SPF fall madness was the name of the meet if I recall. Looking to improve on that performance at some point in the unkown future. I had planned on another meet sometime in the spring/early summer, but some personal family drama(bullshit really) decided to act up, combined with the fact that nearly all of my friends are getting married, having babies, or both, has shot most of my weekends/traveling budget to shit. At this point, I am planning to do another meet at the end of summer or early fall.
I do actually travel through the Dallas area somewhat frequently, as my parents live NE of the metroplex and I’ve got a few friends up that way.
There is going to be an SPF meet in Rogers Arkansas on July 30th if you are interested.

Thats about a 9 hour drive for me. I’ll think about it though, as that might fit my time frame.
Hey there!
So how are you liking 5/3/1 compared to what you were doing before?
And you’ve lost about 40 lbs in 6 months…thats awesome!!!
Big man, big lifts. Cool.
If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War. – George Washington
6/1/11: Reverse band squat night. Went camping out in Lost Maples nature reserve(west of Bandera Texas) with some friends this past Memorial Day weekend. Pics to follow. Due to lots of hiking, swimming, etc. I was 256 even this morning. Who knew traversing 5-10 miles of uneven terrain for 2.5 days was good for weight loss??? At any rate:
Video:
Squats:
Bar X 12
135X8
225X5
315X3
405X1
Added reversed EFS black bands.
405X2 <— this was ridiculously easy.
495X1
585X1
635X1 <— hellss yess!! Hit my normal sticking point just out of the hole, and was able to power through it. Going forward, its the same plan with this lift as it is with my deads. 5-10LB jumps and see where it goes. This felt damn good, and led to some overconfidence.
bands removed.
475X0 capital FAIL. Did not pay attention to my set up, decended waaaay to fast and lost all tightness in the hole. Ditched the weight on the pins. This was a result of my own mental errors more than anything. Something to fix.
RDL:
405X10 for 3 sets. This hurt in a damned nice way.
Band ab pull downs:
SomeXsomeXsome
That was it. Pretty happy with the way reverse band squats and my RDLs went. Not so happy with my lack of thinking. Live and learn.

Thanks for the kind words. I’ll do my best to not disappoint.

Thanks for the compliments.
Well, given that I bassically just made crap up as I went along for quite a while, having structure like this has been good. Even though I am not running 5/3/1 exactly as written(the loading mechanism specifically) having the programs background structure is a big improvement.
No worries on that 475 man you definitely have the strength, just got too pumped up it seems! Haha. That 635 RVB squat was BEASTMODE brotha!!
^ There was no van. I am disappoint.
^ getting organized… sort of.
^ hauling water back to the camp site. My friends and I thought it would be cool to camp on the top of a hill way the hell away from all the other folks. Downside is that we had to make a few 3 mile(one way) trips to the nearest water source. Hauling a 5 gallon bladder and assorted nalgene bottles here. My buddy and I took turns with it. Fun stuff.
Our camp was made at the top of the track on that hill in the background. Fun times.
^ the “service road” up to the top of the hill.
^ home for 2.5 days. Thankfully there was a porta-john 3/4 of a mile down the trail. We had brought shovels in case this was not an option though.
^ river down in one of the valleys.
^ ready to set out. As you can guess, the top of my head got rather sunburned. Eventually I went dirka–dirka with a hand towel. I have just enough hair left to make pealing a pain.

Thanks man. Yeah, the strength is there, but sometimes my brain-power is a little lacking.
