Honestly, just by looking at the video it looks like he didn’t help at all and it was “all you bro” haha. Damn nice job…and sweet shirt! I have a shitload of efs shirts, and I think that one is one of the coolest they have come out with so far…I need to order it soon.
Thanks dude. Yeah, the EFS shirt designs are pretty damn awesome. My personal favorite is the “Planet Meathead” shirt. I’ve always waited to order thier stuff until it went on sale, or they had a free shipping deal going.

How do you like reverse grip benching? Have you found that it has helped you much?
As in, has it increased my regular grip flat bench? I can’t really say. The only time I gave it a legit go was in the smith machine, so I am not sure about the free weight version. A few strong dudes on here swear by it though, and I look forward to trying the free weight version. I have not, until this point, had a spotter who knew enough about benching to trust doing it. Now, it will be somewhat random in that I will probably only attempt it when said individual is in the gym with me. I don’t see any reason why it would not have a good carry over to regular benching though, so chalk me up as optimistic about it at this point.

Fair enough. I’ll be looking forward to see how it works for you.

^^You didnt know that? hahahaha Most gym goes are terrible spotters.

That was some solid benching and repping those 150 DB’s was awesome.

5/23/11: Deadlift night. The day started out with me getting a text in the morning from one of my co-workers asking for help moving. Yay for impromptu conditioning and furniture slinging. First night using reverse bands. This was interesting. During my first 2 movements I did a set of 3 chins between each set. not sure exactly how many I ended up with, but I really like training chins this way. Nowhere close to failure, good volume and it keeps your shoulders warm.

Video:

Deads:
135X8
225X5
315X3
405X3
Add EFS black bands, reversed, chocked at about eye level.
405X1
495X1
585X1
635X1 <----- hells yes. This felt damned awesome. Looking forward to the next deadlift day. Probably going to make 10 LB or so jumps from here and see where it goes.

Leg press with bands:

Worked up to:
9 plates a side plus EFS black bands X5
10 plates a side + EFS black bands X3

Took about 8 sets or so to get to the 9 and 10 wheels. This felt good. Might do this more often.

Cable rows:

the stack for 3X12

Dizenzo rows:

3X12

Some ab work and thats it. Good night. Now, to figure out how to rig up bench and squats for reverse bands.

I have seen many a gym spotter, and for some reason it all still shocks me. I don’t really know why, because I was probably just as bad when I started out. Thanks for the kind words dude.

See? Bands are excellent fun.

You will hear no complaints from me about them my friend. Thanks for suggesting them.

bad ass DLing! 635 is so many plates lol… beastly

those banded leg presses looked sweet. I’ve never seen those before

5/25/11: shoulder work and some pumptastic arm stuff. Bodyweight is 259.8 or so in the morning now. Slowly making my way down.

Video:

Warmups: same as always, with the addition of some complexes: Deads, BB row, hang clean, push press, and chins. 3 reps each is one round. I did 2 rounds with my first two weights for the High pull to CL&J from the hang. Rest was kept to a minimum here, long enough to change weight, get a drink and re-chalk. I think I will see how many rounds I can work up to over time.

High pulls to CL&J from the hang:
116X3,1
166X3,1
206X3,1
256X3,1
276X3,1
296X3,1 <---- Feet were shooting out wide in the catch. Partly due to fatigued quads from the leg presses last time. Also partly due to the fact that doing this in chucks is a pain in the ass. Thought about trying them in my Pillars, but total lack of ankle mobility would not be good. I’m ordering some Do-wins.

Seated DB OH press:

50sX8
75sX8
100sX8
140sX4 <— Damn it. Only 4. Well, its 1 rep shy of my old PR when I was nearly 300Lbs. I’ll take what I can get. I also forgot how much of a pain in the ass getting these set and staying in my pressing grove is. Eh, Lets see if I can beat my old PR as I go forward.
100sX12 <---- yeah for the pumpzzz.

Barbell preacher curls:

someXsome for 3 sets

1 arm tri push downs:

someXsome for 3 sets.

That would be it. Solid session. Aside from my footwork, the clean/press felt good. Little bit annoyed with my DB pressing though.

Thanks bud.

Yeah, I’ve played around with adding bands to machines a few times before. Its a pretty cool trick. I first found this variant in Shelby’s log over at EFS. The quad pumps with these are pretty epic if you go for high reps. They’re also pretty cool as a suido max effort movement.

Awesome training. I’ve never peeped in here before but now I’ll make sure to do so frequently.

Thank you very much. Peep as often as you like.

Hey there! Your training is badass yo! I saw you drove to plano last year I live right near there!!!

You are a fucking brute man. I poke around in here before a workout when I want to be inspired. Fucking beast mode squared.

lol @ 259.8 “or so” hahahaha

Those clean n jerks were nuts! you were at 296 and it looked incredibly beastly… maybe my 315 goal is a little “lofty” to say the least. haha

yes I did. The SPF fall madness was the name of the meet if I recall. Looking to improve on that performance at some point in the unkown future. I had planned on another meet sometime in the spring/early summer, but some personal family drama(bullshit really) decided to act up, combined with the fact that nearly all of my friends are getting married, having babies, or both, has shot most of my weekends/traveling budget to shit. At this point, I am planning to do another meet at the end of summer or early fall.

I do actually travel through the Dallas area somewhat frequently, as my parents live NE of the metroplex and I’ve got a few friends up that way.

Thanks man. Always good to know my log is usefull for something besides taking up bandwidth. Every time I think I can have a peace of cheesecake or some other junk I check your log. If your math gets any more complicated it’ll be above my head though

The scale I have weighs to the 10nth of a pound. Depending on how I stand on it, it varies a bit. It was going between 259.7 - 259.9 that morning, so I took the middle number.

Thanks man. Keep killing the weights and the poundages will grow with time. This is what I tell myself constantly anyway, lol.

Keep it up man, you’re lookin good and still a MONSTER!! Throwin huge DB’s around like toothpicks!
