Don’t know if this has already been posted. It is an old video but new to me.
On Youtube some people thought he was a self-centered jerk who can’t take a joke while others thought he acted appropriately and the interviewers were assholes. What are your opinions?

I think Cruise needs to lighten up. If I recall correctly, didn’t they get a few other people? If I remember correctly, Tom blew up, everyone else realized it was a joke and reacted appropriately.
What was wrong with Tom Cruise’s response? He didn’t get violent; he wanted to discuss why the guy thought he could do something like that. The guy who squirted him wanted to walk away, because he didn’t have the balls to stand there and speak for himself about the matter. Tom never backs down.
He’s not nicknamed Cruise Control for nothing. Discussing is alright if he’s pissed from the joke, but no need to act all shocked and high and mighty like he did. Tightassed…
Well, Cruise is probably wearing an $500 shirt or something like that, and it sounds like he was enjoying the conversation before the squirt. Then suddenly the guy squirts him. Most of the people who think Cruise overreacted would get pissed if someone sprayed them in their $30 Abercrombie and Fitch. There would be a fight over it.
Honestly, I agree with him - it wasn’t funny. And Cruise didn’t yell at him or anything, he really just wanted to hold the guy accountable. I think he actually did make his point when the guy tried to walk away. I mean, Cruise took his hand and looked him in the eye and talked to him.
Not to say that I think Cruise hasn’t gone a little wacko, but he did show good self-control. People really don’t know how to be funny anymore, without resorting to stupid stuff like this or toilet humor.
It probably scared the shit out of him, and I’m not surprised he was pissed. There’s no question Tom Cruise is batshit looney, but I thought he got his point across without going psycho.
Tom’s response was amazing. The fact he stayed so calm but at the same time totally destroyed the guy and embarrased the shit outta him just makes me love Cruise even more.
I found it especially funny that they guy was trying to bail out and afterward Tom just has a bemused smile on his face!!
I Lol’d at the “You’re a jerk” bit. Totally came out of no where. Not even rude or aggressive but such an amazing put down!

if it was mace, fine you can get pissed.but a little water?
our teachers keep squirt bottles in their room to wipe off the overhead projector,me and my friends use them all the time.
i honestly think after the guy explained that it was supposed to be a joke and what not that he should’ve lightened up a tad bit[/quote]
Here’s a tip for you to use. Do NOT go into a high crime neighborhood and think you won’t get your ass beat down if you start randomly squirting people with water.
Who the fuck would take that as a joke and start laughing in that situation? He handled it well because I am sure MANY people would have been more violent in their reaction. He showed self control.
I am sure that suit cost more than all of the equipment the camera man was holding. I think most actors are dingy but this all out hatred for Tom Cruise is just stupid. It isn’t like there are tons of other actors who are so well grounded that he stands out from the crowd. He’s been a “movie star” for most of his life now. None of them like that act “normal”.
Could someone please post the link to the thread that featured this clip about 6 months ago? Everything I had to say about this is contained in that thread.
The search function doesn’t work on this stupid work computer of mine, and no way am I going to scroll back through all of my posts page-by-page until I find it.
