To Strap or Not to Strap, That Is the Question?

Low T success story!

I trained heavy deadlift (4 rep max) every other week when I was powerlifting competitively. Every week is just too much to make gains, IMO. Plus, I only did singles in meets. I couldn’t break from the ground what I could pull in a meet.

You know it isnt. That is why you are mad. It isnt real or you would have scrolled past. Trap bar deads are for women and betas.

Kinda like telling me your bench max on a fucking smith machine…

Look. If you want to use a trap bar for deads, and pee sitting down, i am cool with it. But dont spread that poison to the novices.

You are already dead. Dont kill them too

Is it that time of the month? @Smashedguitarist

Based off of what you’ve written in this thread, I would never suggest a novice lifter listen to you about anything. It’s just lifting weights, dude. There are a lot of ways to do it for a lot of different reasons.

Give him a break, his CNS is fatigued!

What gym? I’m roughly an hour south of Austin but am occasionally there and have popped in to Big Tex. I see their guys at meets around the CenTex area pretty often too.

Irradiation, I believe

In my garage. I have a rotating group i lift with on weekends.

Look. I get it. I want to reiterate I dont really care if you dont want to be a man. But just because you are afraid of deads doesnt mean i am going to let you get away with pretending that a trap bar is legit.

This is called t-nation, and there is a new sheriff in town. I think you meant to join low-tnation. It was just to the right of here

I don’t agree with this at all. Many novices can master the trap bar deadlift in one or two days, and struggle with a bar deadlift their entire lifting years.

There are body structures that are extremely disadvantaged deadlifting with a bar. Why not use a piece of equipment that you CAN do a bar path that maximizes the weight you can move?

The point of the deadlift is the disadvantage. Everyone is at a disadvantage compared to trap bar. I dont have as good a body for squats, but i do them. I dont just go do leg extensions or skip leg day

Oh for fucks sake.

@EmilyQ Say that thing you did before on that other thread.

I checked the Big Tex event calendar out of curiosity and funny enough the last posted event was a costume party themed deadlift/grip contest last Halloween.

I’ll have to keep an eye on their fall calendar this year. I’m going to see if I can get some play in the rules and show up as Captain Hook.

Our new sheriff is a guy with a 455 lb deadlift?

I am going up every month. With real lifts. I am sorry if my numbers dont impress you. To be fair, i dont know my trap bar dead…

For the record and at risk of diverted tomatoes, I agree with your trap bar assessment.

I will add the caveat that trap deads can be useful for general musculature and strength building (added weight is added weight) but a trap bar DL PR is not a DL PR.

I personally use trap bars for shrugs. Dumbbells are never heavy enough and I hate how the barbell rubs my penis. But that’s it. Penis sparing shrugs.

I love the barbell shrug. But i made implements that i use for them too.

But i am really just trolling these guys. I think trap bar deadlifts are probably a good time. I just really think everyone that can should conventional deadlift. Not a fan of sumo, but great powerlifters have done it.

That dead lift in costumes looks cool as hell. I will look into that gym

He is stronger than you.
