To mr Charles Staley

I have read the science & practice of martial arts training with great interest and I have a question. Would a high degree of hypertrophy affect speed? I saw a bruce lee video where he was demonstrating his JKD and damn, he was beyond fast, had to slow the video down to see what he was doing! I was wondering if a well muscled person could get to be that fast (or close to it), or would the extra mass slow him down? Thanks for any help you can offer, Jimmy.

It is possible for a larger fghter to be fast. Read about Joe Lewis. He is one of the greatet karate/kickboxers of all time, and a heavyweight. He used to train with Bruce and was instrumental in developing Jeet Kun Do. Check out www.aikia.net

Might try to post on his website
