After yesterday’s entirely leg-based workout, I have determined the weakest link on my deadlift. Me. I am my deadlift’s weakest link.
I spent yesterday thinking I might have covid (it’s going around the hospital I work for, and someone in my outpatient clinic was out last week with it). This morning I took my temp again, and it’s normal. I don’t have covid. I’m sore all over from lifting two days in a row and I was also tired and stressed from stuff going on. Lame.
Fixed it for ya.
I’m glad to hear you don’t have the 'rona! And I concur, 'tis lame indeed that we get sore from two consecutive lifting efforts and life schtuff. On the flip side, exercising and stress are a potent combo.
for powering through.
Brevity is the soul of wit. Quoting others is the antithesis of wit. Thus, my comment, unlike yours, is the neutrality of wit.

Biking!
- 54:40
I finally bought a bike! I’ll eventually post pics. I didn’t track my distance and probably won’t on my rides, just the time. It was exhilarating.
A bug has been going around the office, and I started sneezing and having body aches, hence the lack of exercise last week. Everyone’s assuming it’s a virus that’ll run its course; time will tell.
How are you? You have been MIA.
True story, and thanks for checking. The illness I was feeling turned out to be the 'rona. A coworker came into work very sick for two weeks before taking a week off. By that time, half the office was sick. I didn’t get hammered as hard as the last time I had it, so I didn’t think to get tested til the worst symptoms had subsided. New Mexico no longer requires people who test positive to stay home for five days, so I just kept trucking on. I’m somewhat frustrated that I was knocked off track from exercising. That always seems to happen.
On the upside, I’ve plowed ahead with landscaping my front yard. I hope to have it done before we set the clocks back. And on an even more positive note, I’ve added this to my life:
Of course I already need to mod my brand-new bike! The seat is an epic butt-breaker, and I need to modify the handlebars somehow to allow me to sit up straighter. I haven’t ridden on any trails at all yet, and this bad boy’s tires are so wide and knobby, it takes work to ride around on paved roads. I’m really looking forward to actually riding off road.
Thanks for asking, CL
It appears life’s been quite rough for you - here’s to a better fall time.
8/31/24, Saturday
52:00 bike ride.
Sorry hear about all the setbacks. Glad you are over the rona and getting back in the game.
Nice looking bike, but that seat does look UNcomfortable!
Looking foward to seeing your adventures!
Beautiful! I know you’ll enjoy it. ![]()
Duder!! I LOVE the new wheels! I also have super tires and yeah, every ride is a workout. #frictionmachine Enjoy it! And I’m SO glad you’re feeling better and that your back on here!
Thanks, CL! I’m excited to be back and hoping to get that bike off the pavement, especially now that the weather’s cooling a bit. Upper-80s to mid 90s are sooo much more tolerable than upper-90s to mid-100s. Has the heat calmed down for y’all at all?
Thanks, Em! The company (Specialized) released a revamped edition and put the old stock on sale. My local Specialized dealer searched the entire country and found only ONE - this one - in my size! It’s a blessing from God, and I’m excited about the upcoming adventures with it.
Chickadee! Thank you!! I was really close to buying a Trek, but the local Specialized store introduced me to full suspension bikes right before I discovered this machine! And absolutely, #frictionmachine is the only way to describe this. What model bike are you rocking super tires on?
Thank you, I really appreciate it!! I’m glad to be back - you, CL, and Em are three major reasons I am ![]()
