Any keen cyclists in here?
I know The Bird and spk like to spin. It would be good to get a Strava club on the go so we can look at each others times, runs etc
If anyone is interested then I’ll create a club!

Tempting. Never really done much cycling, but getting my first road bike soon and need to get out on it as I have my first triathlon only 6 weeks away.
Sorry bro,
I don’t ride much anymore. Usually 2-3 times a week to and from he gym, which is only 8 km away, so its hardly worth doing strava for. Although in the next few weeks I will find out if I am playing football for another season, and if I am no longer playing I will probably get back on the bike, so I will let you know.
Uncle Bird.

I would destroy you all ! Remember that I am first and foremost a competitive cyclist and xc skate skier, then a powerlifter second !!
All bow before thy Lord Mountain Roadie !!!
Arise Thee Lord Mountain Roadie!
Would be great to have a competitive cyclist onboard, KillerDIRK.
I bought a road bike in December and have been having a blast, cycling around the Glasgow area. Amazing scenery and some brutal hills thanks to the rugged terrain.
Has to be said, anyone looking to get leeeaaaan really needs to cycle up some massive hills. The fat is falling off me!

Thats for sure… but don’t expect to put on any noticeable muscle gains at the same timeâ?¦
LordUno; what bike did you get? How many km’s are you doing a week? Do your ride solo or in a group?

I picked up a Specialized Allez Elite 2013.
Have been riding solo or with a couple of mates.
to ChongLordUno and theBIRD:
Just remember these two truisms from the cycling world of the eighties:
Fast Food is the Fastest way to get Fat fast and
Riding Hills is the Fastest way to get fit Fast !
My suggestion would be to use your bike like you would a prowler or any other HIIT type workout to lean out.
But keep the LSD (long slow distance, meatheads) Out of the training except for maybe once or twice a month.
Also Chong, part of my imminent 50th birthday celebration in four years time is to cycle around the British isles.
Hello,
This is an appealing idea. I already track my rides with the CYCLEMETER app on my iPhone and post them on FaceBook. This Strava Club looks a lot like Nike Plus for running. Might give a go.
I am a triathlete and also do club rides. Plus I live in the inner city and use a bike as my primary form of transport.

I hear you mate however it’s the LSD’s that I love. Can’t beat getting right out into the Scottish countryside and taking in some of mother Earth’s most spectacular views! If that comes at the expense of a little atrophy then so be it.
In five years time, hopefully I’m at a good level. That way I can join you for the Scottish leg of your tour
Oh and remember mate, It might not be called the British Isles in 5 years
LSD = foundation. dont skip that early season very important part of your training…
I love my strength training however this cycling lark is a whole new level of suffering.
LordUno; may I suggest go riding with a bunch of guys that are better than you. Then you will know what pain is all about.

chong
good ride… the wind sucks, espically the cross winds, but makes you very strong.
Heres a little pain thrown your way:
Still one of my all time favorite Sunday rides !
and theBird is correct. Nothing better than getting your ass kicked by that little Female chinese cyclist/powerlifter to push you to better levels !
Absolutely agree lads.
I’ve been cycling with my mate, who’s been cycling for the last year himself. I have a hard time keeping up with him, especially on the shorter, more intense runs.
I also cycle with two triathletes. They actually pace themselves however it’s a different story on the climbs. Just watching them fade into the distance has given the me the kick up the arse needed, to get up some of these bastard hills!
KillerDIRK, that is one beast of a climb!
ChongLordUno: its only two hours of UP ^. Luckily i get to live at 8000ft year around so the altitude does not effect me as much.
Would love to get over there and not only cycle, but tackle on foot and crampon the “Ben” BenNevis that is !
I am on GarminConnect as killerDIRK as well if you want to check in periodically !

I’m on Garmin too. elhazrad is the name!
KillerDIRK, I’m still waiting on you to accept my garmin friend request
Took a week and a half off the bike. Ended up smashing a few PBs as well once that was over. On my commute though
I went for a 27 mile run today and beasted it. The first half was good however the second half was straight into a 15mph headwind. Utterly soul destroying. My pain was further compounded by the fact I have been eating relatively low carb for the last week. I started my day off with bulletproof coffee, eggs and bacon. Not ideal
I bonked about 14 miles in. Had to stop off at a little grocery store to buy some Dr Pepper and chocolate.
The thing I enjoy about cycling is how nutrition works in ‘real time’. You can literally feel yourself burning up your food. Once you get some simple sugars in, well you can feel that kick in once it hits the bloodstream.
Cycling is becoming an obsession.
Hey ChongLordUno ! Yesterday I did the same as far as the Coffee, Eggs(4) and Bacon(butcherthick 6). What I did though and I find I like it is to put Monster no carb into bottle one with 30grams of ModernBCAA and then ice and water into bottle two with 30grams of modernBCAA.
This way I am staying fasted cardio until after the 2-3 hour ride. If I am not lifting in the pm, I will eat carbs directly after the ride. Otherwise I will save the carb load for post lifting injestion !
