Comments: I was babysitting my son while the girls went out to get a haircut on Saturday and had about an hour to kill so I decided to go hit a stroller run. This was a pretty decent pace for pushing the stroller and what normally would have been a brutal run in the middle of the afternoon was aided by cooler than usual temperatures (in the upper 70’s). Had a good time. He feel asleep at about the halfway point and napped for the rest of the way.

That may very well have been my last run in this town and it was a great way to wrap up a decade of (mostly) Saturday runs.

Comments: Definitely feel like I’ve got a touch of something. Hopefully it isn’t Covid… This is probably one of my last training sessions in the “tiny garage.” Supersetted squats and deads to get them done. That should leave a more manageable session of OHP/Pull-ups for tomorrow morning. Going to take it easy this week and do reps of 12. Looking back, I haven’t taken a rest week since the end of June so after this week I will take a week off (for moving). I will still try to hit some conditioning in there.

What’s up Trent. I swung by T Nation following an article today and thought I would see if the forum journals over here were moving any better than the ones over at BB.com.

Good to see you have been sticking with it.

A quick read and I see you are moving again. Congratulations!

Hopefully you don’t have COVID. That stuff is running wild right now with the new Delta variant. Thankfully we have dodged it in my family.

Good to see you around man.

I might join you over here soon.

Hi Shane! Great to hear from you again! Yeah, I think it is more active over here, although I joined at a time where I was busy with two moves so I haven’t had the time to dive into the other journals that much. When you and Greg went on hiatus over at bb.com, I looked around and noticed it was pretty dead in there so I left. It kind of defeated the purpose of posting if there was no one else to interact with… It definitely seems more active over here.

Long story short- we sold our house back in July and have moved into an apartment. We are closing on our new house (in Wilmington) tomorrow and moving down next week. I’m trying to grow the market down there for my company so am hoping for the best as it will be sink or swim for me. Looking forward to getting back down there as I lived there for a long time before we moved here, and much prefer the coast.

Below is a photo of the little sweat shop that I’ve been training in for almost a month now. Let’s just say, there isn’t a lot of room for error or missing lifts in here. Ha ha ha…

Hope you’re doing well brother. Hope you’ll join us over here.

Good to hear you found a house. Sucks you had to move into an apartment first but with the way the housing market is right now it’s not surprising.

We have lost offers on the last 5 houses we have put offers in on. 30 to 35 over with zero to little due diligence seems to be the going offers around here. We are not having to move so I am going to ride it out another year and see if new inventory helps settle this madness down. Still plan to keep my eye open though.

That definitely is a much smaller space than you are used to.

I plan to movie my journal over here. Though using my phone on here looks like it’s going to be rough. The page doesn’t want to scroll.

Solid work put in as usual!

Man, that’s rough on the house front, Shane. We sold our home for $75K over asking and then bought our new house for $20K over (after negotiations). It is a tough market. We are fortunate to have found another house. It isn’t our dream house, but checks most of the boxes. I can’t tell you how much better my knees have been since getting into a one-level apartment. (And the new house is a ranch too)

Glad you’re going to join me/us over here. Yeah, I’ve never found a forum that I like to look at on my phone so I just use the computer. A lot of the time now, I post my workouts later in the day, at the office, etc. I’m really glad that you found me over here. I’ve been wondering how you were doing.

Wow, congrats on the sale man. You are right, it is a tough market.

I almost gave up on it joining last night. Using this forum on a phone really is impossible, so I will be here on my computer throughout the week.

I have been doing well. Kind of a rough year. My sales associate who got cancer passed away and my wife’s uncle passed of covid. Been a soul searching year and have basically realized life is short and I need to take more vacation time and slow down a little. Trying my best to do that.

Good to see you are still grinding out good workouts. I would expect nothing less!

Thanks on the house(s). Man, very sorry to hear about your coworker and wife’s uncle. That is tough man. Good on you for changing your outlook for the better. That was a big factor in our deciding to move to Wilmington. Up here it is extremely fast-paced and stressful. I just seem to be able to relax a lot better there (more slow-paced, beach, etc.).

Yeah, I seem to recall some difficulty joining here too. Honestly, I don’t like the format of this forum at all but it is what it is. Just a way to communicate with others who are training. I haven’t checked yet but hopefully you have a journal going in here. It would be great to see what you’re up to and keep up the dialogue that dropped off for a few months. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just some LISS and a metcon (which consisted mostly of LISS) before heading down to Wilmington to close on our house. Hope you all have a good day!

I have always used my phone to access this site and only have problems when theyvare screwing around with shit.
There is a desktop and mobile view button. Did you try that?

Food and beers and not gaining weight is why we do this right?

Solid metcon Trent.

I hear you on moving to somewhere less fast paced. I would love to do that. My wife is stuck on living in the same city we are in because our schools are pretty great. I want to move north to the mountains. Once my son graduates HS I plan to do just that. :sunglasses:

Football is starting back up. Just our luck Drew Brees gets old and retires and freaking Brady is still around to wreak havoc on the south. :weary:

Chicken little, I did try the mobile view, it helped a lot. Thank you!

Comments: Despite the fact that it is August, somehow, I haven’t done a really hot run yet this summer. That streak just ended… That run was brutal. The temp is in the 90’s and the heat index was over 100 degrees. Definitely had to stop and walk a lot on the last two miles. Got it done though.

New House: We were in Wilmington for the previous two days closing on our new house. When we looked at it before, we knew it was going to need a little bit of work (new roof, maybe new carpet, touch up paint, etc.). During our final walk through, it became clear that it was going to need a lot more. The carpet definitely needs to be replaced (pet urine, etc.). The hardwoods need to be refinished. The previous owners didn’t bother taking out picture nails and sure as hell didn’t bother with touchup paint. So the entire house pretty much needs to be repainted (which I will probably have to do). It’s going to be a long road and we are probably going to delay our move in at least two weeks.

Yesterday, I tore out the wheel chair ramp in the garage. That took about half a day since whoever built it put 5 deck screws in each board (sledge hammer doesn’t work well when screws are used). Then, I repaired the original stairs in the garage. I was completely drenched to my core after all of that. We are planning to rent a condo at the beach for a week starting next Saturday and will come back here to (hopefully) move the stuff from our apartment down the weekend after next.

Thought I replied to this, but must not have pushed the button or something… Food and beers and not gaining weight is exactly why we do this! :joy: I hear you on the mountains. I love the mountains too, but they don’t have any surf. Yeah, couldn’t believe it when the Bucks got Brady. Then I couldn’t believe when they won the superbowl… Then, when the Panthers got Darnold, I just wanted to die… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Comments: Man, I am definitely getting heavier… I really need to tighten up on the diet and maintain my exercise. Before we moved I was consistently going on hikes at lunchtime and skateboarding in the evenings. I have all but eliminated both of those things for the last month or so and, of course, have been drinking more beer and have let the diet slip. Hate to be in late summer and around the weight that I usually reach in the wintertime before dropping the hammer. If I can get into the new house and get some kind of routine going that would help… It looks like with my daughter starting in-person school, I will have to take an active role in the morning rush so to train the way I’ve been training, I may have to wake up at 4:00AM – 5:00AM. Boy, we are going to need to adjust our evenings…

Strength: This is the third straight week where I thought it is my last week training in this garage. I’m just going to shut up I guess and one of these weeks it will actually end… My knee was bugging me a little on this. Probably from the long, run on Saturday. Bench is still weak.

Followed this with some good accessory and a quick interval/sprint session.

Done.

Sounds like the new house has plenty of honey do things on the list. Don’t worry when you finish those there will be more. LoL. Such is life!

Falcons have looked like garbage so far in preseason. With only 3 preseason games this year, this weekend should be a good game to see the starters play.

Solid session today. Bench, deads and squats. That will put hair on your chest.

4 and 5 am workouts are tough, but some guy named Jocko seems to think it’s a great idea.

I hear you on the weight gain. Seems to be so easy to do. I would have killed to been able to gain weight this easy when I was 18!

Yeah, we are just in a pinch because we want to get a lot of this work done before school starts (next Monday) so we are trying to figure out whether to start our daughter in school here or live in a crazy over-priced VRBO down there until the flooring is done. It’s just a ton to deal with…

While it did feel good to see the Panthers on TV this past weekend, I almost wish that there was no preseason. I’d rather just see these guys suit up and go for it on Week 1. I don’t need to see the third string guys stink it up and foreshadow what the first string guys will probably do…

Thanks on today’s workout. I keep having these long days on Tuesday so I put deads in on Monday (to make Tuesday shorter) and it makes for such a long session.

Yeah, I woke up that early a few times to train with the local F3 guys and I don’t know if it was the coffee afterwards or what, but I generally feel great on those days. But when I get off work I’m dead tired and just want to get to sleep. Jocko is an absolute beast. I think if I could get into a routine, like he is, I"d be fine working out that early. In our new home, the garage setup is ideal for that. Not only does no one share a wall with the garage, no bedrooms are remotely close to the garage. That means I might get to start making noise again! :grinning:

Comments: I have a pretty hot day of manual labor coming up so I need to get this one done. Woke up at 5:00AM to get out here a little earlier.

Moved through this pretty quickly. Nothing Earth-shattering. That metcon was a tricep destroyer.

Have a good day!

That is rough about the house and your daughter’s school situation. Short term at a Vrbo doesn’t sound that bad if the price wasn’t so high. My son went back to school 2 weeks ago, took him all of 8 days to get his first cold.

I hear you on preseason. It is fun to watch if your team actually plays worth a damn. Neither of ours have though! LoL

I tried the early 4:30 workouts and found the same thing. I could get up and do them in the morning but was dead tired when I got home from work.

New house sounds perfect for home gym!

Solid workout today! Your pull-ups always are impressive. 35 push ups in a row had to give a killer pump. Following that up with that metcon is impressive!

Thanks Shane. Yeah, we are wondering if school will start at all with the Delta numbers through the roof… They are making the kids wear masks so hopefully that will minimize the colds. This year is going to be another shit show, I’m pretty sure…
