Comments: Good session. These strength sessions are fun but they take a long time. Have to drive to Emerald Isle this morning so I shortened accessory and the metcon. Done. Have a good day!
You are correct that I live pretty far from the Bay Area. I live up in the foothills about an hour east of Lake Tahoe, so really about 3 hours from SF. That’s what makes it so crazy that people are coming here in droves. With remote work, though, a lot of them just get a good Internet connection and set up shop in their houses. I tried mostly working at home for a little while, and it was OK, but I really need to be in the office to look at equipment and stuff…plus, I like talking and being around people besides my family some of the time.
Good looking workout today Trent. I like that you’re getting other lifts, like Snatch Grip Deads and Push Jerks, into the mix. That’s got to be a nice change of pace.
That accessory circuit sounds brutal. Way to get after it.
Ha ha, your response actually made me LOL. I would think that people are moving to where you are to be closer to Tahoe. Probably the same reason that people are moving here. There aren’t that many jobs here so I assume people are working remotely and they just want to live in a cool place. I remember when Covid started and everyone was sent home for basically two weeks. I (and all of my coworkers) lasted for about 3 days and then we were back in the office. The day I walked back into the office (Day 3) I stated (for the record), “I would rather die than be at home every day.” While there is both truth and comedy in that statement, I feel that people working from home (or mom’s never leaving the house) is the icing on the cake of the downfall of our society. Now, many folks are becoming people who primarily interact with others via social media and are mostly connected to the world through the internet. IMO, that will (obviously) prevent people from engaging in real, tangible conversation, but also eliminate their ability to think and reason in a logical and critical manner. Real human interaction with different types of people is extremely important for our intellectual growth and the work from home trend is moving people (quickly) in the opposite direction. Sorry to launch into a very lengthy subject there…
Thanks on the workout. It feels great to mix it up on the main lifts. It has been years… Hence all of the IG posts. All of a sudden I’m some exotic workout guy. Really, it comes down to, what it is all for? If you do the same routine every 6-8 weeks, then your body doesn’t gain anything. I may loose some strength with this change, but I am actually sore again after working out so that is a good and welcomed sign.

Comments: I’ve been sitting on this one for probably a year now. Doing all of these Oly lifts is just loud so I usually avoid them. My son is already up this morning so I went ahead and threw this one in. Pretty boring but got the job done. Finished off with some rocket fast yard mowing and trimming. Have a very long couple of days coming up so I may be a little hit or miss in here. Hope you guys have a good day!
Ha ha, thanks Shane. Yeah, I’m not sure what to expect out of Baker. Not expecting much. Maybe slightly more than Darnold. I was interested to see how our draft pick QB worked out. He looked pretty good in preseason but ended up getting hurt and I think he is out for the season now…
Yeah, those Snatch grip deads will work your posterior chain. Push Jerks are just a cool movement. Fun to do. Definitely could have gone heavier. The pull-ups felt good. Trying to work depth on those. Thanks on the metcon and yardio.
The weather is definitely cooler now. I’m loving it. LOL.
Comments: Didn’t feel like swimming so I decided to go run. Was pretty beat for this as I didn’t get home from work until 8:00PM last night. I’m in Myrtle today, then have a conference that lasts until 10:00PM tonight and then goes all day tomorrow so that is probably it for me this week. Have a good day!
Comments: Returning to 5-3-1 for the final week. Good session, although my legs felt much better last Monday (no run leading up to it). Could have gone heavier on squats. Had to break and take my daughter to school around 7:15AM. Went to get some groceries after that so it ended up taking an hour. Gotta get these mornings worked out better…
Comments: Good session. Stayed up late last night hanging blinds. Still did well this morning. I could have gone heavier on deads. Due to time, I skipped accessory and did an accessory-ish metcon. Done. Heading to Charleston, then Myrtle Beach.
Thanks Shane. At one time (12/24/28) I actually got +100 lbs for 1 pull-up. My fat ass definitely wasn’t feeling that strong today…
Yeah, hanging blinds is not the most fun thing in the world. I was supposed to be out of town tonight and the 7 windows in our den and kitchen had no blinds/curtains so we bought some of those light filtering cellular shades from Lowes. My wife hates that people could see in at night (even though our house backs up to dense forest and wetlands). So I decided to go ahead and put up some blinds so she would feel comfortable while I was gone. I had to trim them myself with the chop saw but got it done. I need to retrim a few of them at some point as they fit a little tight, but overall they came out very well. I flush mounted them with the casing so they look really nice when they are down. Personally, I don’t like them as it makes the den/kitchen feel smaller and more enclosed. Plus, if someone is actually crawling through that forest/wetland at night then we have bigger problems to worry about… I wouldn’t walk through that sh!t in the daytime, much less at night…

Comments: Eight hours of driving and a two-hour meeting yesterday. Got home at 8:00PM last night. Still out here to get something in this morning before heading to Myrtle Beach.
Metcon: Would have loved to have had a bike for this. I just can’t push it as hard on LISS nowadays so my heart rate fell during that. Oh well. Still got the blood flowing.
Thanks Shane. Yeah, it is kind of silly but oh well. Big foot can’t see in now. Thanks on the long drive and metcon this morning. It wasn’t easy but got it done.
Comments: Definitely sluggish for that run. Didn’t sleep well last night. I left at 6:30AM, so it was barely light outside. Did that so I could still get back to take my daughter to school. I really need to get these mornings worked out. A new gym just opened at the front of our neighborhood, and I might have to join there. As we move into wintertime, I won’t be able to leave for a run at 6:00AM anymore (I’m not running in the dark). So, I will need an indoor option.
