Conditioning: Pool Swim
1 Mile, 34:55, 486 Cals, 145 BPM

Comments: First distance cardio session after Covid. Other than some brief stops to cough or blow snot rockets it went fairly well. That was about 2 minutes slower than my last attempt, but I’m fine with it. I’m beat from a long couple of days so it was a good showing just to get out there and do it. Didn’t tear my feet up either so that’s a win. That average heart rate was surprisingly low. I wonder if the new watch was having a hard time measuring it… Have a good day!

Conditioning: Metcon
Mary
Complete as many rounds in 20 minutes as you can of:
5 Bench Press, 155 lb (sub for 5 handstand push-ups)
10 single-leg squats, alternating (assisted)
15 pull-ups

Stats: 6 Rounds +5 Bench Press, 201 Cals, 122 BPM

Comments: Dragging this morning. It’s been a long week. Just heard a lady walk by on the sidewalk. She asked her phone how old Clint Eastwood is, to which her phone replied that he is 92 years old. Man, way to hang in there Mr. Eastwood!

Metcon: This one was just hard to move quickly on. It was really more of a long workout circuit than a metcon. Definitely in the Zone 2 range.

1.5 hours of yardwork coming up. Have a good day!

Nice couple of workouts Trent. Good to see that distance swim in there. That is impressive man. I really suck at swimming. I need to do more of it.

That Mary is a tough looking metcon with those pistol squats.

Good luck with yardio!

Thanks Shane. The swim was good, but it really does a weird thing to your neck muscles. I was sitting at my desk this afternoon and turned my head to look at one of the other monitors and BAM! Pulled neck muscle that hurts like crazy. Yes, that’s an injury that happened from sitting at my desk and looking at a computer screen… Getting old is sucking on new levels…

Man, that sounds brutal Trent. Neck cricks are the worse. Hopefully it doesn’t last long.

Comments: Alright, day 1 of changing things up. Last time I tried to do something like this, I believe I ended up with some random injury by Week 2, so we’ll see how this goes. Lol. The neck has improved each day and is now about 80% better.

Session: Front squats are rough. Used the straps trick that CL told me about a while back and that was a big help. I liked the medium-grip bench sets. Accessory was good and conditioning was quick and painful. Ha ha… Have a good day!

Good to hear the neck is back to 80 percent.

Front squats, good on you for doing them. Get a rep here and there for me. :joy:

Nice benching as well and that accessory work definitely looks good.

How is Baker looking? Had a chance to check out any training camp stuff yet?

Falcons I think were rated number 32 out of 32 this year by some pundits. LoL Only way to go is up. LoL

Thanks Shane. Those Front Squats hurt like hell.

Man, I haven’t had time to look into training camp. Did see something about how they are shopping around for Darnold so I guess that means they like Baker and the rookie that they just drafted. Yeah, saw the same about the Falcons a while back. At least there’s no pressure right? :man_shrugging:t2: :joy:

Conditioning: Surfing. Blockade Runner.
1:10:36, 421 Cals, 104 BPM

Comments: Was going to lift this morning but the surf looked good, so I made it an active rest day instead. It was a pretty good session. The waves were closing out some, but I still had a good time on the potato and got a few turns in. I was grooving just north of the hotel and a surf camp with 30 kids walked up and paddled out right where I was. Me and this older guy paddled about 200 yards to the South to avoid getting mixed up with them, but it just wasn’t working as good there. I waited another 15 minutes for a set wave and then went in, changed and drove to Myrtle Beach. Had a good time talking to the older guy. He was probably 65-70 and still ripping on a long board. Very inspiring.

Everything I am reading from Falcons fans is overly optimistic. I swear they/we don’t ever learn.

Sounds like the surfing wasn’t great but the company was. :+1:

How is surfing on the foot?

I don’t think the Panthers do either. I think our new owner is committed to winning, but I don’t think our coach is going to pan out in the NFL. He was pretty vocal about wanting to coach at Michigan if Harbaugh left. Dude got a massive contract and still has one foot out the door. That’s all I need to know… He’s just working… I am optimistic though. They have plenty of talent. If CMC can stay healthy and the rest of the team can stay motivated and play well they can easily make the playoffs. If they do the typical Panthers thing and turn into a bunch of complacent whiny scrubs, then they are going to finish 31’st in the league (ahead of either the Falcons or the Browns. Mark my words). :joy: :joy: :joy:

The surfing was definitely good enough to have gone out. It was a great balance to lifting. I always enjoy meeting older folks who still surf. If I should be fortunate enough to make it to that age I hope and pray I can still surf. The foot has been good. After the 5-day dose of Prednisone and then a week off from exercise with Covid I was back to one-hundred percent (or whatever that is nowadays). :joy:

Comments: Dragging after a long couple of days and our HVAC went out last night. The condenser still works. The fan just won’t turn on. Hoping we can get that fixed today.

Session: Strength felt good. Sumos are always awkward for me. I used straps for the last few sets because my right middle finger has minimal grip strength and hurts. I ended up skipping accessory due to time. Threw this metcon together quickly. Drenched in sweat in the end.

That’s a good looking workout Trent. I have never really cared for sumo squats. Like you said, they are awkward. They also bother my hips. Hopefully you can find a good groove with them.

Sorry to hear about your AC unit. They always seem to fail in the summer heat. :weary:

I saw an article about Mayfield. Sounds like your coach likes him.

Thanks Shane. Yeah, sumos are a weird lift. Still fun to try once in a while. This HVAC BS is something else… Evidently it was the blower motor that went out (on a two-year old system). :rage: That shouldn’t happen. Got that replaced today for $300. Then as they were leaving the condenser made a weird noise and shut off. Looks like our thermostat in the bonus room is bad and the zone board is also bad??? $1,000 to replace that??? Seems fishy to me… We have HVAC again downstairs but the bonus room is 87 degrees. I’m pretty pissed honestly.

Glad the coach feels good about Mayfield. I don’t care of they have Joe Montana. If that O-Line doesn’t play well he is going down in flames just like Darnold did.

Damn. Yeah a 2 year old unit shouldn’t be having any issues. All that stuff should be under warranty.

What kind of unit is it? Knock on wood I have had no issues out of a Trane unit I put in about 7 years ago. Only issue I had is my thermostat went black and wouldn’t turn on. Turns out the condensate pump was clogged, which shut the unit down to keep from flooding the house. Bleach and a quick cleaning fixed that.

We have the same issue on O Line.

Ours is a Trane as well. Had heard nothing but good things about them so I thought we were on Easy Street… Yeah, none of that makes any sense to me. We are talking to the branch manager of the company that came out yesterday for clarification.

Metcon: Not too bad at all. Got it done. Finished with an hour or so of hard yard work. I only list this as exercise because I am hauling ass and going as fast as I can. If I went any faster behind that mower I would be running. My neighbors probably think I’m psychotic…

Solid couple of days work Trent. Hopefully they fit your ac sorted out.

Yardio definitely counts if you are running behind the mower. :joy:

Ha ha, thanks Shane. The bonus room thermostat and zoning board magically started working again, so, for now, everything is fine.
