TM79's Training Journal

Lots done in that session Trent.

22.5MPH wow! Then hitting the gym with a leg press PR. Great training day man!

Enjoy your weekend. We are expecting much warmer weather down here next week. I can’t wait!

Thanks Shane! It was definitely a somewhat unwanted PR as the intent was just to get some cardio. LOL But when you look down and see you are only a couple of points off of your PR pace it’s hard not to push it. My HR was at like 105% for the last few minutes though… :exploding_head: Yeah, definitely looking forward to the warmer weather!

Comments: Good session for not really being motivated this morning. The kids had all last week off from school because of the snow so this morning felt more like the first day back after Christmas break than a usual Monday. Once my wife left to take the kids to school I went upstairs and cranked the amp up and played some guitar. Then hit the Peloton and then went to the gym. That was definitely more of a bodybuilding session. 2 minute breaks between sets on strength and then some solid accessory work. Done. 40 degrees and raining feels like Springtime after how cold it’s been lately. I did the Peloton ride with the door open and felt fine. Ha ha…

You got a ton done in 52 minutes! Nice numbers across the board Trent.

Warmer weather is certainly welcome, even if it does come with some rain. :+1:

Comments: Good session(s). I have been having a little bit of sciatic nerve pain again the last day or two. Not sure what aggravated it but maybe it was the Dyna Body Squats on Monday? Dunno… I decided just do the HS IL Leg Press again as that has not been bothering it. Hit the bike and some pull-ups in the garage and then went to the gym and did some whole body work. Still feel like I might be getting sick but it is pretty mild so far. Hopefully it goes away or stays mild.

Nice work Trent. Sorry to hear your sciatica is acting up. Still looks like you got in some great work and the leg press is a great alternative.

Hopefully you dodge whatever sickness is chasing you.

5 Minute Cool Down Ride

Comments: Think I’ve reached the point where I’m probably getting sick so I’m training anyway just to get some exercise in before taking some days off. Lol Took it a little easy on that ride but probably should have gone easier. Oh well… I’m at 174 miles for the month so there has been a lot of time on the bike this month. I’ll take it.

Nice ride Trent, that’s some great mileage out in for the month! Very impressive.

Hopefully your sickness is short and easy to get over.

That is a good distance for the month. Though I only have an Airdyne, I should start riding it much more and tracking my mileage. You have been doing a job well done!

Thanks gents. @Friedrich if you did 170 miles on an Airdyne in a month that would be more impressive than anything I’ve ever heard of. :exploding_head:

Looking back, I obviously did not think that statement through. I used to put up a lot of Cooper aerobic points however.

Comments: Good metcon. I changed a few things up and added in the pull-ups but the effect was as it was intended to be. Beautiful warm morning at about 55 degrees. Broke a nice sweat wearing only shorts and a tee shirt and enjoyed the sunrise with the door open. And of course, Stevie Ray Vaughan playing in the background. Doesn’t get any better… :sunglasses:

Nice Trent. Sounds like a perfect vibe for a workout!

Sounds like a great workout today Trent. Did the sickness pass you by? From that description of the beautiful day and good metcon it sounds like it.

Sorry to hear about the sciatica too. I get that periodically too and it is no fun at all. Sounds like you have a good plan to work around it though.

Thanks Greg! This winter has been weird. I’ve had a few colds but they have all stayed pretty mild and gone away. Mostly a mild sore throat, a slight cough and maybe a little runny nose. Then after a few days they go away. This one seems the same. Not sure what it is… Maybe just building immunity against the stuff?

Comments: Good session. Started on the Peloton and was about to head to the gym when my son walked out and asked if I could workout longer in the garage so he could workout with me. Kind of hard to pass that up so I did a few things in the garage. Then went to the gym and got some more good work in. Done.

Awesome to hear your son is interested in working out with you. That’s a proud moment for sure. :+1:

You got a lot in at the gym too in those 40 minutes.

Hope you guys are going to see some of the weather we are getting this week.

It’s going to be sunny and 70 degrees here by Wednesday. :sunglasses:

Thanks Shane. He is a long way from really being able to workout but it’s definitely cool that both kids seem interested. I’m hoping that might be a good way to form a connection with them in their teenage years (as those years seem to be pretty difficult for parents). And of course, hopefully that will form a habit that they will stick with forever.

Yeah, temps are definitely looking to stay on the warmer side this week here so I’m pumped about it. Seems like everyone has the flu though so hopefully we can dodge that… :grimacing:
