Thanks Shane. The temps were amazing. At home on Friday the heat index was over 100. Up in Boone it topped out around 80 degrees. Most of our trip it was in the mid 70’s. The kids complained that the water was “freezing” in the hotel pool.
Here is a photo from Grandfather Mountain. I think you can “feel the cooler temperature” in this photo. It was about 70 degrees up there with a stiff breeze. To me it felt a little chilly. Ha ha…
Also, we did one of those “Old West” photos as a family. It was pretty hilarious. Our son was crying in the dressing room because he didn’t want to do it. We bribed the kids with ice cream afterwards, which, to me, was clearly written on their faces in the photo. My wife also did a terrible job of getting into character. After the fact she reported that she was about to bust out laughing the entire time. Again, an accurate description. But don’t worry guys, I feel like I sold the look pretty well. I feel like I looked like I was about to smoke somebody and take their money.
Yeah, I can feel the coolness in that photo for sure. That is a great photo. I love that whole area up there and the weather in the mountains is definitely a really nice escape in the summertime.
The old west photo came out great. Your wife looks very nonchalant compared to the rest of you. You can tell she is the most dangerous one in the group.
Comments: Good session this morning. Got in there and was going to do Decline Bench for strength but someone was on it so I did Incline DB Bench, followed by DB Military Press. Probably not the best idea to start with 80 push-ups in that metcon but still did decent. Plenty of good supersets and accessory work. Threw in an extra Peloton ride when I got home just to torch some more calories. Done. Will probably be in the house for the next few days while this storm moves through. Hoping that the flooding isn’t too bad. Right now they are saying we could get 15” of rain over the next 3 days or so.
Very nice push session Trent. As you mentioned, you hit a lot of push ups prior to that one so even more so impressive with the numbers you were hitting.
Sending good vibes you way for weather. 15" of rain is nuts to even thing about. Hopefully they are way off on their prediction!
Thanks Shane. It looks like it is supposed to make landfall again about midway up the SC coast, but it is going to be stalling out and barely moving for 3 days. Hence the heavy rain and flooding. I’m hoping it is spread out enough that it won’t be too bad. During Florence Wilmington got 25"-30" and the flooding was pretty bad. We didn’t live here then but I asked my neighbor and he said that our house didn’t flood, so hopefully we will be OK on this one. I filled up the gas cans last night and have about 3 days worth of gas for the generator if need be.

Comments: First I will say that that was an excellent ride. Very good arrangement and very challenging. Not sure what happened toward the end though. I was on pace to get over 22 miles and then with about 1:30 to go the screen started doing weird stuff and exited the ride. I think I may have flung some sweat onto it and maybe that started pushing buttons, etc. About a minute went by and I wiped the screen off and was able to rejoin the class but only had 30 seconds left so I ended well short of what I could have done. Oh well. Still a PR. I just hope the Peloton isn’t about to crap out on me. That would be a bummer…

Comments: A PR wasn’t even on my radar during that ride. I didn’t notice it until I saw the little gold star afterwards. Good ride and then went straight into a gut punch of a metcon. Nothing but grinding out here this morning. I did all this with the door open and the tropical storm blowing around outside.
Thanks Shane. The wind and rain woke me up several times last night. I think after today it should be about out of here. I’m hoping we can see some sunshine this weekend. That would be greatly appreciated. I just drove to work and there was barely any flooding so that’s good. Almost to the other side!
Comments: Decent session. I haven’t slept well all week due to work stress. Went in there any punched the clock this morning. Still hit some good sets. Will check the journals at work.
Thanks @shaneinga and @DaCharmingAlbino. Definitely going to be feeling that one. Ironically, the work stress is the opposite problem from what I’ve had for years. Instead of being too busy my company gave a majority of my projects to someone else and the ones I have left all seem to be having issues…
