Tito vs Shamrock
MaloVerde wrote:

Aggressive fighter with a weak chin who leaves openings, versus KO machine and supreme counter-puncher. You’d be a fool not to pick Cro-Cop.

I can’t wait for Sylvia-Arlovski 3 to be over with. I like AA and hope he wins, but I’ll be satisfied no matter what to see something else going on at heavyweight. That is, if they can find something else going on at heavyweight since the UFC blew it’s wad by having their best fighters go at it 3 times in a row.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw it. The difference in their training camps was ridiculous. Tito is shown doing grueling circuit cardio session after session. You then see Ken doing “target heart rate” training on a starclimber, lol.

This was the last piece of evidence to make me 100% sure that Ken is going to get his ass pounded again.

Yeah stl, you got my point exactly. I don’t hate either of the fighters, though I have a perference for Tito. I was just simply surprised and trying to point out that at Ken’s age I thought he would be training twice as hard and non-stop, but I think he believes his anger will get him through the fight, as we learned with MMA anger can but rarely gives wins, it’s almost down to a science nowadays.

I agree on the rematches as stated above, I would love instead of a USA Vs. Canada, a PrideFC vs. UFC. I know people have their opinions but…

Without much MMA knowledge, I liked Tito at first but then I saw clips when he went to Shamrock’s press conference and when he and Liddel confronted each other before their fight (where liddell told him he would kock him out lol) and see seems like way big of a prick for my amusement.

Slight on-topic hijack…

I don’t have digital cable (sorry, Adelphia, but I’m not paying an extra $50/mo for 100 more channels of shit that I don’t watch), but as a result, I can’t get PPV.

Anybody wanna tape this fight night and send me a copy? :^)

Thanks in advance,
Bob

A lot of bars are carrying UFC now, you might check that option out.

Hooters advertised the fight on their billboard for Sat night.

Whatever happened to Frank Mir? I know he had that motorcycle accident, and then lost to a complete nobody, but is he still competing? Will he be fighting anytime soon?

You watched that whole thing? I flipped over to it from time to time, hoping they’d show a whole fight, but no luck.

I’ve never been a shamrock fan. As soon as his part of all access came on, I was out the door running errands.

tuf also showed how weak ass his is as a coach.

did it ever occur to you the producers of that show did that on purpose? if you watch it carefully, they basically never showed Ken training his fighters. Odd? yeah. their is no way in hell he wouldn’t have trained them. even just a little bit. it was even a fucking theme through that show - “oh, Ken doesn’t give us cardio. Tito’s camp has cardio.” Fuck that bullshit. the people running that show took those moments with Ken out of context to sell a theme. disrespectful to Ken to say the least.

What? I wasn’t talking about Ken’s and Tito’s coaching on The Ultimate Fighter. I was talking about their training regiment highlights for their upcoming fight with eachother, not the TUF show.

Of course television will create semi-illusions or exploit certain situations but the coaching was obviously non-existent.

my comment was not directed at you

Frank Mir will fight against Dan “The Sandman” Christison on Saturday.

I’ll be rooting for Tito and Arlovski for their respective fights.

Ahahahahah. 40%? You know he already fought and beat shamrock right? Shamrock even at his peak was a mediocre fighter, and now he’s old and past his prime.

Shamrock has always been overhyped, and could never deliver.

That’s the thing people cannot quite grasp!

What did Shamrock ever win?

He never won a UFC tournament. Most people think he did.

What he won, and what made him his name (beyond the hype) was a “Super Fight” victory over Dan severn. He beat him with a Guillotine choke.

Who else of any noteriety did he face and actually defeat?

He fought Royce Gracie twice. Royce tapped him out the first time. And the second time in the “Super Fight” they fought to a draw.

He fought Don Frye and lost.

He fought Rich Franklin and lost.

He fought Fujita and lost.

He fought Sakuraba and lost.

He did defeat Kimo and Otsuko…big deal!

Shamrock has always been about hype. He seems to be a marketable commodity for some reason.

He’s a brawler and a leg lock guy, and he has refused to grow (or was incapable) and get better over the past 10 years.

And I attribute his inability to beat anyone of the top fighters to his limited skills.

though i agree he is over-hyped, and not even close to being a threat to any contender nowdays, he did beat quite a few of his times better fighters, he submitted Bas Reuten if i remember correctly, or was that fight a “work”.

I only recently started following mma, but I remember hearing about hte shamrock-ortiz match, something about tito showboating in a match against a lions den opponent, so there was genuine bad blood, etc. I watched the match last night and at the end they hugged, it seemed like everything was cool. so what happened between then and now that shamrock went after tito when they were both announced as TUF 3 coaches. Was that just publicity stunt bs or did tito run his mouth again after the fight?
i dont know if i heard this right but i think when they huged tito said " I still have no respect for u" or something like that
I was led to believe by that UFC All Access thing they had the other night that things were cool after they fought. Shamrock said that he told Tito that he was the better man. Tito said that he did not put on a t-shirt that he had planned on wearing, after being urged not to by his team. Tito then said that Shamrock started talking about how he lost the fight because of injuries, etc. Evidently, Tito felt that he was taking that win away from him, which led up to them having words again. Anyone else hear that? I could be wrong…

i watched that as well and from what i remeber, what you said sums it all up.

Tim Sylvia doing some whining. Wake up Tim! Life’s not always fair:

Yesterday’s Las Vegas Review-Journal had an unintentionally funny story on Tim Sylvia. Sylvia is mad because the UFC has promoted Shamrock vs. Ortiz as a bigger deal than his match. He claims Shamrock being pushed hurts UFC’s ability to go mainstream and that he shouldn’t be fighting because he’s too old. "He’s a has-been.

The only reason he’s fighting is because he’s got a mouth and he likes to do that wrestling, that WWE stuff. He talks a lot of (trash) and pretends to fight. Tito beat (him) so badly the first time, I can’t even fathom why he’d want to fight him again. It’s a joke."

He doesn’t believe in the promos and believes they should be marketed strictly based on talent. The comedy portion, even though there is truth to at least some of his complaints, is that the show is sold out and they’ve opened up three closed circuit locations in Las Vegas because of the overflow of demand. The fight will be broadcast to the MGM Grand Garden Hotel, The Luxor and the Primm Valley Resort. And Tim Sylvia vs. Andrei Arlovsky has exactly zero to do with that.

omg this is the second time seeing it and both time i burst out laughing for a good 5 mins

What sucks the most is that Tito vs SHamrock will probably last about 2 minutes. I REALLY hope they go the distance but I highly doubt that’s going to happen. I want my monies worth damnit!!!

This would be a good thread to have a Poll for (pre-fight picks, easily displayed). Oh well; maybe next time?

Something tells me Tito wont perform as well as I hope, but he’ll still probably beat Shamrocks ugly ass.

I think you might be right about that. They know Kens star is falling and Titos still burns bright.

Then again it might just be that Shamrock sucks as a coach!

I think it was a real fight. But my question is, who did Bas Rutten fight and beat? If you look at his record it is largely made up of weak opponents. Granted he beat Kevin Randleman. But other than that…
