What sucks the most is that Tito vs SHamrock will probably last about 2 minutes
I doubt that. Tito is going to mash Ken, but he will take his own sweet time in doing so. With the exception of his KO slam versus Evan Tanner, Tito usually takes a little while to work himself into a good position to stop the fight. I suspect this fight will be a carbon copy of the original, with Ortiz winning by TKO strikes in the 2nd or 3rd round.

But my question is, who did Bas Rutten fight and beat? If you look at his record it is largely made up of weak opponents. Granted he beat Kevin Randleman. But other than that…

Mas Funaki, Guy Metzger, Frank Shamrock, Mo Smith, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, and Randleman were all among the best that the sport had to offer during the No Holds Barred era of the 1990s.
He also fought a bunch of veteran fighters with good (but not great) credentials who had a TON of fights under their belts. Guys like Delucia, White, Takahashi, Suzuki, Yamada, Kunioku, Yamamiya, etc. might not be world class, but they are all dangerous veteran fighters who have delivered more than their share of ass-whoopins.
IMO, Rutten’s competition is much more impressive than the Jimmerson, van Clief, Ichihara level of competition that the UFC offered back in the early days. In the early 1990s, the level of competition in Pancrase was MUCH higher than the level of competition in the UFC.
I’d like to see Shamrock blow his nose on Tito’s mexican flag then stuff the rag up Tito’s ass. I’m so tired of american sell out traitors in the sport world.

Oh, I agree. Just like Severn, Gracie, Frye etc. were the best that were around that the UFC had to offer.
My point is that while Shamrock beat many of them that does not qualify him as a logical contender to one as good as Tito Ortiz.
And…Bas while fighting the best of his was still not even close to the champions (or top 10) of today.
I totally agree.
But again, because Shamrock beat Bas in 94’ and 95’ really means nothing today. While they both may have been standouts for their time they never beat anyone as good as the fighters of today.

I like Tito, but I gotta agree.
The Mexican flag thing pisses me off.
Before his first fight with Shamrock he carried a US flag.

I have to disagree, how does that make him a traitor? Firstly Tito carries a one-sided Mexican and the other sided American flag, showing pride for both nations.
Secondly people wouldn’t say the same if someone was carrying an Irish flag for example. My family on my mother’s side has irish roots and have a clan logo on their keychains/the flags you see in Mass. It is not disrespectful, who is truly an American? Everyone who is breathing American’s ancestors weren’t doing the same even 400 years ago. It’s a no win, if someone carries an American flag they are promoting a bastard nation if someone carries another they are a sell-out.
Since the new fight was on July 09, 2006 (which was today) and i dont have pay per view, i didnt see it. Dont tell me who won please, but when is it coming out on regular cable so i can watch it?

I second this request
Um, yeah right… there is NO way you aren’t going to hear. Unless you cut yourself off from Internet, YV< Radio, and any big-mouth friends.
Hey, I won’t talk (in this thread). But I suggest you stop reading right now.
yah, ortiz won in like 45 seconds due to herb dean stopping the fight. tito had shamrock pinned against the fence, and landed several good elbows in succession… but the fight should not have been stopped. especially after seeing how far the first bloody fight with stevenson went… im glad ortiz won… but not like he did; it was stupid.
Come on… Shamrock ate 5 succesive elbows to the face with absolutely no attempt at defending himself, - didnt even have his legs locked for a decent guard anymore… sure, he could probably have “handled” a bit more damage without dying, but that doesnt mean it would be a good thing to let it go on. I would have been a happy with a slightly longer fight as well, but Shamrock was just overmatched.
On another note, - the Sylvia/Arlovski fight sucked big time. The UFC needs some fresh and better blood in the heavies, - after this fight Sylvia doesnt deserve the belt, no dominance at all.
Shamrocks wife seemed pretty mad too, she was like “Tito is just a punk and shamrock is getting revenge.” But in the preview shows where they showed each competetor training, Tito looked like he was working harder.
