Nice. Mortal Kombat 3 for Super Nintendo was one of my favs growing up. Subzero was King in that game.
Haven’t ever played any of the ones you mentioned tho. I do have a Street fighter game on the new SNES system they released a few years ago but haven’t tried it.
I can only imagine. Like dagill said though, you seem to be doing well. Just keep your head down and keep progressing with the DB stuff. This can’t last forever so just try your best to get better at the stuff that you can do.
Dumbbell Front Squats
70 lbs x 12
50 lbs x 11 Dumbbell Floor Press
70 lbs x 17
60 lbs x 15
60 lbs x 12 Goblet Squats
60 lbs x 12
60 lbs x 12
60 lbs x 6
Front squat improvement on top set. Widow maker was awful. Couldn’t hold a good front rack position. I used hex dumbbells and they wouldn’t reach my shoulders cause of my long forearms. I said screw this then stopped. Floor Press form got retarded I feel kinda uneven and it’s annoying. Overall this week was ok I guess. I feel like there’s a mental blockade. Doing the same weight isn’t very exciting. I hope next week will be better. Might test after that week just for fun. Not gonna change the working weights tho based on testing.
Would’ve logged earlier but I was on zoom with my aunts uncles and cousins for 4 hours it was funny. Would recommend to other people.
Dumbbell Front Squat
75 lbs x 9
Dumbbell won’t get on right shoulder so I stop and wait to try again
75 lbs x 3
Stops and notices I can’t find a stable position. Gives up on dumbbell front squats. Impossible to have good form and move up in weight. I knew I had so much more in me. These dumbbells are simply too big in diameter or something idk. This is the last week of the training cycle. So I’m going to try weighted one legged exercises.
Dumbest Floor Press
75 lbs x 15
60 lbs x 12
60 lbs x 15 Dumbbell Goblet Squat
60 lbs x 10
60 lbs x 12
60 lbs x 15
had to ask my brother to help me get the 75 lb dumbbells off the ground for floor press. Honestly a little pissed about it. I knew I can obviously press it but I blame my long arms for not letting me get them up.
@dagill2
So what’s the difference between the walking lunge and Bulgarian split squat
Could you fit all or most of the weights on one dumbbell and goblet squat?
Walking lunge alternates sides and therefore don’t keep constant tension in the muscles. Bulgarians do, especially if you don’t lock out at the top. Bulgarians are usually done for low(er) reps and walking lunges for higher reps.
If you really want to test yourself, something like this could be “fun” for Bulgarians:
I have two dumbbell in my hand and i do some sort of power clean to get them up. Highest amount of weight I can fit on a dumbbell is 100 lbs. i could try heavy goblet squats again. I think I got the form down.
Hey man, sounds like your on the right track with dagill. I’m afraid I will be zero help here. Never done a front squat that felt good with a barbell, and I literally just started doing DB work so I have no big ideas. Sorry man.
I’d say just zercher because I’m all gung ho about them right now but I have no idea what logistics would be involved getting them into position.
I’ve been doing my single leg work in the beginning of the workout, so my legs are smoked pretty good and the small amount of weight I have is heavy enough for things like squats.
You could try doing lunges or Bulgarians as your first lift, then those 100lb goblet squats would be pretty brutal.
I honestly have no idea. Can you fit your bicep/elbow in between the weight on your dumbbells? I would think it’d be possible. Would probably be a bit more difficult to hold in the rack position than with a barbell because the weight is farther out in front of you.
Might not be a good idea though haha- maybe have someone a bit more knowledgeable weigh in on this. I’d stick with the advice above TBH.
I’ve never messed with DB squats much but I’ve gotten sweet results from split squats like the video above. Easy loading and it will kick your ass with a lot less weight than you’d expect. Lunges are great too. If the DB squats aren’t working for you, there’s nothing wrong with switching them out for something that does. Glad to see you persevering though, man, nice job!
