You’re right, it isn’t necessary. However, I think you need to have it explained again as to why it happened.
A well respected member of the community built you and entire program FOR FREE, which you then immediately threw out the window in pursuit of wanting immediate results. This does 2 things:
gets the big dogs fired up because it really comes across as incredibly disrespectful when one of their own puts in work for a young buck, who then, without even TRYING the program for an extended period of time, ignores it.
it shows that, despite spending a moderate amount of time on this site, you clearly haven’t grasped one of the most important concepts that lifting big weights takes time. This, again, makes people frustrated because more than one member has taken the time to try and help you, hoping the wisdom they offered would stick, but it appears to have gone in one ear and out the other.
I don’t say this to pile more shit on you, I’m explaining things in the hopes that you’ll learn a valuable lesson about taking a second to pause and analyze your actions before executing them in the future.
I don’t see what I did as disrespectful I changed it around that I think might work and something I would find more enjoyable. I used dagill’s idea and I appreciate him taking the time for that. Do I not get a choice? Is how I program inferior to what you tell me because you’re more experienced. But what if what I do works in the end. How am I the self entitled one???
You chose to ask someone who knows more than you to write a program for you.
You’ve said “enjoy” enough times that I now know 100% that you do not understand what asking @T3hPwnisher for program recommendations will get you.
If you can’t see that asking someone for something that requires their time, and then throwing out what they wrote because you’re impatient is the literal definition of self entitlement, then you’re not looking for an actual answer to this question.
I never said for you to leave. Nobody did. But you’ve taken a step back in the past and looked at your actions. Try it now. Watching the “I don’t wanna wait 12 weeks” thing was cringeworthy in that I cannot fathom doing that to someone. And furthermore, you didn’t even do the program and you keep talking about “enjoyable”. My kids tell me they don’t like stuff they haven’t tried all the time. So that’s just being silly.
I like how you took a picture of a post where he offered you a choice to either have him do it or someone else, and you left out the part where you said “knock something together.”
Also not sure if that was a shot at me @liftangryordie500 but I was gonna say, you didn’t leave, you generally followed peoples advice, and you got stronger because of it. The other troubles were unrelated to lifting advice.
Maybe just try the program that was written, and not be so defensive about it. It looks solid and took someone’s time.
Hey man, I’m not going to encourage you either way to stay or leave, do the program or don’t… BUT…
You have to think about this from an outside perspective. Let’s say your teacher assigns you homework. They have always collected and graded it. You have been doing ok… not great, but passing. At this point in the year you’re having some trouble understanding exactly what is being taught so you ask someone with a little more understanding to help you, like a tutor. You meet during your study hall, but it’s his lunch period. He spends his time teaching you but it turns out the whole time he’s explaining things you’re on your phone and retain none of it… you then have to spend the next few weeks reading and studying because the time spent being taught ended up not being fruitful. You ask your friend for help again the next day, but he declines because of how you acted the previous study session.
Not saying you’re being disrespectful or anything. I think you should run the program that YOU think will be best for YOU and YOU are the only one who knows that… However… you’ll learn as you get older that good things take time. You can’t rush old fashioned hard work and dedication.
I hope you stick around. Cutting ties with hundreds of years of lifting experience, to me, would not be beneficial. Plus, it’s enjoyable to watch you progress.
Ok, so loads of stuff going on here that I didn’t really anticipate, but I guess I’ll share my thoughts:
@tlgains I’m not very invested in you running the program. Use it or don’t use it as you see fit, and view it as what it is: a series of tools that I’ve found useful that’s been strung together into a (probably) sensible program. Its untested as a complete program as my main goal was that after 12 weeks you’d have a significantly bigger toolbox to use. My only ask is that if you change stuff, you either ask someone experienced if it’s a smart move, or stop calling it my program.
I still don’t understand where the butt hurt is coming from so I won’t comment on it.
Asking people to cheer for you is self defeating. You might get the positive feedback you were looking for, but it will become meaningless for you and an irritant for them.
I see a lot of people on here wanting you to succeed and that can only be a positive thing.
“Feedback is a gift” is a phrase used by one of my previous managers. Try and think on that and understand the value, particularly when that feedback comes from guys like @T3hPwnisher and @flappinit. I’m also going to throw in one of my other favourites, paraphrased from Will Smith (he used to be big back in my day, ask your dad). “You got to read and you got to run”. In this context “reading” is learning, its actively searching for the feedback and the information on how to get better. You’re pretty good at that bit. “Running” would be where you put that learning into action. Where you figure out how to act on the feedback and then act on it.
If you want this forum to be a positive experience for you, my biggest bit of advice would be to interact more with others. A quick search through your recent post history shows that almost 100% of your posts are in threads you’ve created yourself, and are about yourself. The posters who get the most positive feedback on this site are the ones who go out of their way to engage others and who show an interest in others training. Some of the most respected and liked posters on this site get double digit likes on nearly every workout they do because of the way they engage with others.
Love that movie, but I can’t actually remember if that quote was in it. I did a bit of reading on Will Smith a few years back, he’s a pretty smart guy from what I’ve read. Apart from the Scientology bit.
I feel like it is from that movie - I think in the scene where he’s talking to his son on the basketball court or whatever. Any who, I didn’t know he was a Scientologist - what’s up with celebrities and that?
Using kroc program. Clearly I didn’t read that strength increases are embedded into the program
Can I do dips instead of pushups?
Are there substitutes for inverted rows and pullups?
Those lunges are going to hurt lol
6.Since @flappinit says my ways of programming are inferior because you guys are more experienced then I guess I won’t do any on my own without asking. That was a reasonable response.
