Hey @jshaving I saw this while scrolling on Instagram. Have you heard of this?

On those deadlifts today I think I tweaked my back. After the 2nd rep I heard a loud pop. There was no pain so I kept going. I feel fine right now, there is some pain but, it’s very dull and unnoticeable. I don’t really know how to describe the pain it’s like somewhere in the pelvis area by the sacrum?Idk? It might not be a bad idea to skip the last day of the training template if need be and just do a crap load of body weight stuff that day. I need my body 100% ASAP, just going to make sure to get lots of sleep.

I hadn’t. It’s probably been going on for a while and was just settled.

From the Washington Post:

McKesson, Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen would pay $515 million over seven years and Johnson & Johnson would contribute $150 million in two years to the federally recognized tribes, resolving litigation in dozens of states with tribal reservations, according to documents filed Tuesday in federal court in Cleveland. The tribes claim they were saturated by highly addictive painkillers manufactured by J&J and shipped by the distributors without regard for the clear signs of abuse and death. The companies deny wrongdoing, saying they complied with federal drug laws. The funds would be directed to addiction treatment and prevention programs.

This resolution speeds up the process of getting funds, as the sprawling opioid litigation throughout the country has taken years to reach courtrooms. Overseen by a panel of tribal health experts, the money from this deal would go toward programs that aid drug users and their communities — a help to tribal governments bearing severe financial burdens for the health care, social services, child welfare and law enforcement resources expended during the opioid crisis. About 15 percent of funds will go toward attorneys’ fees.

Nationwide from 2006 to 2014, Native Americans were nearly 50 percent more likely to die of an opioid overdose than non-natives, according to a Washington Post analysis.

ā€œAmerican Indians have suffered the highest per capita rate of opioid overdose and are more likely than other group in the United States to die from drug-induced deaths,ā€ Chairman Douglas Yankton of the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota said in a statement. ā€œGiven this, the dollars that will flow to Tribes under this initial settlement will help fund crucial, on-reservation, culturally appropriate opioid treatment services.ā€

ā€œThere is no amount of money that’s going to solve the generational issues that have been created from this,ā€ Chairman Kristopher Klabsch Peters of the Squaxin Island Tribe in Washington state told The Post. ā€œOur hope is that we can use these funds to help revitalize our culture and help heal our people.

ā€œTribes, for the first time ever, stepped up, exercised their sovereignty, got a place at the table and negotiated a settlement here that is truly historic,ā€ he said. ā€œNow we have to go to our clients, present this deal, and they have to, as sovereign governments, sign off on this.ā€

We’ll see how it all goes. That sounds like a lot of money, but to those companies it’s probably nothing, and I’m not sure which tribes benefit. There’s over 500 (technically more like a thousand but the government doesn’t recognize all of them) tribes in the U.S. alone so if this is getting split between everyone, it won’t add up as much. Maybe a little over a million per tribe? If it’s split evenly? I have no clue. This stuff gets complicated.

Will be training tomorrow but doing a bunch of bodyweight stuff. Fingers crossed this discomfort near my butt/sacrum goes tf away on Sunday so I don’t have to delay my training any longer.

Just to describe the pain, it hurts when I bend forward, touch my toes, get into deadlift position, and at the bottom of the squat. I’m still very much mobile, in fact if I ignored the slight discomfort I feel capable of lifting tomorrow but that’s not the smart thing to do.

Basically, it hurts when I straighten out my back.

Woke up today, feel great, there is a little discomfort.

Walked to Family Dollar, did a farmers walk back with 2 jugs in each hand. Did a weird little workout back at the apartment with the milk jugs. Will be doing random workouts (bodyweight squats and milk jug Romanians ) throughout the day.

Will train Monday as I planned and will start GOMAD tomorrow. I like to think by starting the diet 2 days before I’ll be fueled up. But, that’s enough talk, looking forward to logging progress.

you’re fortunate young man. all that milk would give me problems these days.

I’m just going to have to find out what it does to my stomach. In the past I’ve never experienced problems drinking whole milk, only 2% milk.

This is unrelated but 2% tastes like paint.

You’ve been eating some weird tasting paint.

:joy: I was raised on 2% milk and difference between it and whole milk is very noticeable in the taste.

I gotcha man, my mom tried to get us to drink skim and succeeded most of the time, got lucky to get 1%. Drinking whole is like experiencing a new, creamy world coming from skim.

Dude, follow the instructions in the book and BUILD UP. Don’t just do a gallon in one day.

You got this.

I will make sure to do that, tbh I’m just really excited to drink milk. 1. I like milk 2. I’ll be focused on drinking milk and not constantly think about ordering Little Caesar’s Pizza and never going through with it.

It feels silly to log this since I haven’t started day one of training yet but I have drunk half a gallon today along with my meals. Drinking half a gallon was easy.

Normal bowel movements as well. I ate a lot of dairy today too.

Aw man I started too heavy. My legs ran out of juice after rep 15 and I dunked. I used 315 lbs, I thought that would be moderate weight. Glad I didn’t give up tho.

My legs did give out but perhaps that was my own fault? Maybe I should’ve taken more than 3 breathes towards after rep 15.

Super Squats

Week 1 Day 1

Strict Press - 3 x 10 - 115 lbs

Bench press - 3 x 12 - 165 lbs

Bent over rows - 2 x 15 - 135 lbs

E-Z Curl Bar - 2 x 10 - 90 lbs

Parallel breathing squat

1 x 15 - 315 lbs

1 x 15 - 300 lbs

Rader chest pull 1 x 20

Stiff-legged deadlift - 1 x 15 - 275 lbs

Rader chest pull 1 x 20

Toe raises - 3 x 20 - 40 lb dumbbell

Sit-Ups - 1 x 25

Definitely happy to start the program but I am - also a bit upset I didn’t get 20 reps on squat. Mid workout I even tried it again with 300 lbs and I dunked again.

My legs did get very shaky with 315, I took the 3 deep breathes in between each rep.

Good stuff dude. I can’t imagine being able to hit a second Widowmaker after hitting failure on the first one- but I think it’s pretty badass that you tried.

I remember reading in the book that you’re allowed to take as long a rest between reps as needed, not just the 3 breaths. Although, I don’t know which would be more difficult… pushing through the leg pain while squatting consistently until 20 reps or holding 315+ on your back for 5 minutes and taking plenty of ā€œrestā€.

So pumped to see you crush this, Tim!

I know you’re doing GOMAD, but are you aiming for 2 or 3 squat sessions per week?

Yeah, this! I love too that rest is in quotes—another pearl of wisdom from the Boilerman!
