How much are you suppose to tip at a buffet?
fuck me running according to the whining wait staff give until you bleed. Apparently they deserve more than anyone else.

ah no. other jobs have hourly wages at or above the state/federal minimum, with outlined requirements.
Service based jobs, in this case, waitstaff- agree to an hourly wage sometimes as low as $3 an hour with the understanding that because their job is service based and their hourly wage so low, they can, if they try hard enough, make up for (at least) having an hourly wage below the state/federal minimum.
it IS a situation to which they all agree when they show up to work on the first day.
when you pay for your food at a restaurant where it is served to you, you pay for just that. for the food.
at the end, if the service portion was to your satisfaction, it’s the custom to pay for that, in addition to and as a percentage of the bill, and the socially acceptable amount is %15 percent.
if the service wasn’t up to your standards, you don’t have to tip AT ALL, and restaurants who automatically add a gratuity for parties of a certain number or more state so in writing, before you order.
it’s not a fucking communist plot to screw fireman, policeman, nurses, and teachers. those CIVIL SERVICE professions accept the duties for the pay from day one, because you as a person cannot be a productive member of society AND do all of those jobs at the same time.
food and beauty service staff are entitled to a tip because you COULD do that shit yourself, and are actively choosing not to. in the case of waiters, and most chain beauticians, their hourly wage is enough to scoff at BECAUSE THEY’RE COUNTING ON TIPS.
you have solutions for your, “I hate tipping” dilemma.
-in your preferred scenario, the price of your meal at a restaurant would likely triple, at least. unless the food quality went to that of McDonalds.
-don’t tip. be that asshole.
-don’t go out to eat. then you avoid the problem all together, brush up on your culinary skillz, and probably save some $$ in the process. win-win.
move to europe, where things make sense.
If only you made sense =)
CBear… you don’t make sense, you just illustrate the stupidity of the system.
It’s okay so may people are like you, just lemmings jumping off the cliff.
If you would have read the actual first posts and the the article you would understood the article but I get that you wanted to just shoot off on what you wanted to say.
You are ignorant about the cost for a restaurant, I know because I am an auditor, obviously you are not.
This is a thread about an article about foreigners and tipping. You obviously just shot off without actually reading what the thread was about. Take a step back next time. See what the actual thing is before you submit a remark that even then wasn’t a good solution.
