Congrats on the PR’s, I like how you are attacking your sumo training step by step.
Obviously pulling from the risers is doing you some serious good. I just read a program that is all about moving down one pin on the pull each week. I’ve read so many lately in an attempt to design new programming, that I forgot which one it was!
And your bench is awesome! I have no clue where my raw single is right now. But it’s WAY below yours. Keep up the great work.
Great job on the rack pull PRs. I’m excited to see what you press when you do re-test your 1RM.
You are the rack pull master.
Awesome PRs, really great news on the bench press.
Wow awesome prs on the dl and bench. Congrats.
you’ve made some really nice progress on the rackpulls Kimba.
kickin ass~
Doin my happy dance for you!!!
woot woot!
Kimba, form on rack pulls was awesome, I love the back arch and tightness on the setup!
I’m all for weighted planks !!
Nice pulling Kimba.
How’s the knee doing? Any plans to run yet?
I really, really appreciate all your encouragement on the rack pulls and bench. The interesting thing about the rack pulls is that my sticking point is the FLOOR. So rack pulls feel to me like there is a big elephant in the room and instead of taking him on head-on, I’m circling him.
But I need to learn to get my glutes and legs into this lift more, and the rack pulls give me the space to isolate those areas and learn the body memory necessary to be able to actually engage those parts during the full lift.
It feels really good to be making progress in my lifting again.
Yesterday was a rest day. Today I’m hoping to continue my run rehab with a 2 min walk/3 min run x 5 = 15 minutes of running. I’ve been carrying a little Gymboss timer with me on runs, which beeps at the appropriate intervals. If I’m very lucky, there might also be a bike ride after work.
15 knee-pain-free minutes of running today, 2 min. walk/3 min. run x 5. I’ve definitely lost some cardio fitness, as I was sure looking forward to those walk breaks. However, my knee DOES NOT HURT either during the run or afterward. I almost can’t believe my good luck.
Sadly, it is too cold to ride. That is the beauty of running for me: I can keep myself warm running at less than 6 mph, when its just impossible to keep warm riding at a substantially higher speed.
Glad to hear the knee is behaving so well.
Awesome! Yay for painless running! Looks like you’re on the mend for sure. Keep up the running re-hab and you’ll be up to speed (ha!) in no time.
Congrats on the PR! pulling 2x a Kimba is exceptional indeed ![]()
Thats great about the running, if it didn’t get any better I was going to suggest rucking but you showed me.
ManfromMass, I am so happy my knee isn’t busted. I hope your knee situ is OK too.
Maschy, pulling 2x Kimba = 225 lbs. and I hope that will happen from 3 risers during this coming weekend.
Joe, rucking is interesting but honestly I’d rather run. I like the feeling of being light on my feet. That doesn’t happen too often when I run (legs often feel heavy) but its glorious when it does happen!
Today’s training was the usual Wednesday round of high volume squats up to 90 lbs., some bench press to no PRs, and 25 BW dips and a variety of sundry items. I tried again to beat my trainer at a plank-off but we got to 3.5 minutes at a draw. Bastard.
PLANK OFF! i want to see this plank off too–it could be intense! also you look great doing planks ![]()
LMAO @ bastard.
So competitive, I love it!
3.5 minutes is awesome.
I concur with Brutiful, you do look awesome doing planks. I loved that avi when I first joined PW, and I love it now.
a 3.5 min plank?!
so happy to hear your knee is doing well.
