Tiny Freak

That is awesome progress on the squat…and your practically squatting your own bw at that!!

I like the 5x3 scheme…I do that a lot with squats and dl’s…just enough to feel like I did something!

Nadia, perhaps that’s true. But cleaning these tiny MP weights shouldn’t tax me.

You know, I used think the same when I would do my BB squats and lunges and would have to clean a 60lb bar - its just 60lbs, it shouldn’t take out too much energy…but in retrospect I think it did take a bit of wind out of my sails, and I was only doing leg work, not MPs.

The DL is coming along swimmingly! Great work Kimba!!

And fantastic dipping as per usual

I’m late but I’m in.
Casting my vote for pants pics every page!

I love your attitude Kimba.

You know what I am going to post here?!

That is some mighty fine work on the weighted dips. 3x5 w/the 25 is very impressive.

Look at those dips, thats why you’re the Queen.

I sing Rick James to myself everytime I come in here.
“she’s super-freaky, yow”

Snapper, clearly I know NOTHING about too-deep squats. It took me a year of squatting to a damn aerobics step to figure out legal depth! Just goes to show, everyone has their own unique struggles with these lifts…

Betty, my 5 x 3 wasn’t really on purpose. But it did seem to be appropriate for the rehab purpose and it might make sense for me to shoot for that on rehab days. Thanks for the validation!

Maschy, that is super interesting that you and Nadia feel the same way about cleaning small weights. When I do MPs at home, I have no rack and must always clean. And in those sessions (first thing in the AM, in my PJs) I always got my best results. hmmmm.

Maybe it was the PJs!!!

Hallowed, I’m casting my vote for your beautiful avi on every page.

Print, thanks for the dip encouragement. I’m trying to decide whether to do more reps at 25 lbs. or move on to repping out higher weights. I’m leaning towards more reps at 25 lbs.

Joe, in fact my husband does call me the Queen. How’d you know?

giterdone, I’ll take that as a compliment.

Today’s training was my first run in my new running shoes: Nike Free Runs. I LOVED these shoes and felt really light and fast running in them. Same course as last time: 2.3 miles but this time I ran it in 22:22, a full 4 minutes faster than my first time. No walking, no painful side stitches. I’m calling this a victory.

Thus far I’m amazed how much hard cardio I can get in a short amount of time. To get a good ride in, that is 30+ miles. Versus a couple of running miles. Wow. Much more efficient.

Or i could just be a wussy…

Run, Kimba, Run!

i would say the power is in the pj’s, I’m no doctor though.

If I’m not careful reading this you are going to have me running again…

I agree, you progress with the deadlifts the most. But all the “these squats felt easier” are progress too.

And you’re hilarious; “stay even with Frenchie”

New log, same beast ;D

awesome on the running!!

And now tomorrow I have to add a few reps to my dips just to shake up the queen

Congrats on the running! I hope you were running to a huge cup of Frenchie’s Creme de Menthe Hot Chocolate…

Great job on that kick ass second run–it is a wonderfully efficient form of cardio. FOr me,crossing over to cycling is really hard. I don’t know if it works different muscles, or if it’s because I don’t know how to use my gears correctly, but I would much rather run a up a long hill than bike up one.

Thanks all for the encouragement!

Yesterday I ran in about 30 degree cold and did alot of heavy breathing of that cold air through my nose. When I got home, my nose felt dry and tight and then started running. And it hasn’t stopped since. Sleeping was a problem last night.

So clearly if I’m going to run in the cold, I need to cover my nose and mouth with a scarf or baklava.

I certainly wish I’d known this before.

Baklava? That would really make it hard to breathe with all that phylo and honey. I think you mean “balaklava.”

Running. Hmmm. If you do it too much, you will chew through your muscles and strength. Just sayin. From experience.

Freudian slip. I’m hungry.

Agreed. This running business is just a replacement for the bicycling until cross-country ski season starts. I don’t intend to run further than 5k/30 minutes nor more frequently than 1-2 times a week. Less cardio than I’m used to doing, actually.

Have you ever run 5K races before? I bet you would really excel. Might be a fun late-spring goal.

^^^^

What Snap said, when I was running in late 30’s I ran a 21:12 5k time and I bet you could get down in that neighborhood too.

I’m happy if I can get under 30 minutes for a 5K, and I have been running semi-regularly for years. I’m sure you’d kick my arse with a bit of training.
Cold makes my eyes and nose run too, but they do usually stop once I get inside.
