That was the highlight of my day. You must be on cloud 9. And deservedly so!
And there’s no way that was your max. It came up like it was nothing.

congrats on your DL!!! so cool to see hard work paying off.
you really do have very good taste in clothes, i think.
Nice deadlifting, ninja. You’re getting damned strong. 200 is not far away at all.

Holy shit…holy shit.
also, I almost reported this …when did we get a ‘repor’ button.
OOH! CONGRATS!!!
And here come those awesome bike rides…I love how you ride to go eat and then ride back home ![]()
Kimba: Congrats on those DLS prs! And I agree with snap, it looks like you’ve got more in you right now.
congrats on the PR and as Snap mentionned - that looked nice and smooth. No hitching and jerking. You’ve got more in you for sure.
Now I want a pulled porc sammich.
That looked waaaaaayyyy light. I’m with Frenchie.
Joe, I definitely want 2 plates per side. That is actually my lifetime goal, so if it takes awhile to happen, I’m prepared.
Snapper, thanks for your cheering me on. I know that I can lift more, but I’m always fighting a crappy round back when I pull at my max. That is what I’ve been working on with rack pulls – pulling with my legs and butt instead of my back. What made me happy was that 190 went up not-ugly.
alexus, I have a problem with stupid-expensive workout clothes. Its my drug of choice.
andrew, I must admit that your comment puzzles me.
Betty, eating and riding there and back is one of my great pleasures. Hey, we saw a family out on a QUAD bike the other day! Now there’s something to do for you and the fam. ![]()
Nadia, I hope there is more there. I’ll try it again next week.
Frenchie, the pulled pork had melted cheese on it. Just giving me you the full story.
DCA, thanks for stopping in and checking on me.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I arrived at yesterday’s training with tired legs. Which was OK since I hadn’t done any upper body on Friday and it was time to rectify this.
Bench Press (5/3/1 week)
Bar 1 x 5
72.5# 1 x 5
82# 1 x 3
92# 1 x 1 <–butt a little off bench, but I’m taking it
I struggled mightily to get the money set up because last month I missed and had to repeat the whole cycle. Now I can add a pound (I’m much too lame to add the 2.5 lbs. that Wendler suggests) and see if I can make it through another bench cycle before having to reset.
BBB
65# 5 x 10
These went up mostly easily, except for the last few sets where I battled fatigue.
Cable hip ad/abductions (3 exercises each leg)
7.5# 3 x 12
Some rehab banded box squats with the bar. (2 sets of 5) But the legs were just too tired so I gave it up.
Kroc Rows
40# db 3 x 10
Back Raises
25# DB behind head 1 x 10
Damn, I haven’t trained weighted back raises in awhile and I’ve gotten weak!
Nice! You got yourself a brand new log
Kill it!!
Edit~ I guess it isnt that new…but I have been MIA ![]()
Great pulling tiny freak - you made that look easy, I think you’ve got 200 in you.
You do put in some serious time on that bike - I don’t know how you can do that after heavy lifting.
Congrats on those DL PRs!
Happy that you found some dry weather to ride in over the weekend. This rain is seriously getting to be a drag.
I don’t write much but I’m always checking you out… I mean…um…checking in on you.
Ohmygosh Kimba, look at you! 190 deadlift! I’m sorry it didn’t check in right away. enthusiastic cheers!!

Good job! You should take it. You’re not competing… yet.
wow, we are just neck and neck on 5/3/1 aren’t we? This is my 5/3/1 bench week too, and I stalled this cycle, but I’m trying for 75/85/95 on Thursday. You inspire me!
Thats damn fine lifting, now put those micro-plates to good use.
Damn, training is AWESOME! That bench is amazing, and congrats on that sumo DL PR.
Where’s my Kimba at?!
Woohoo on the 190 DL!! Good stuff!!
And that bench looks good to me - those back raises will be back in no time.
Maschy, I’m here! Just running around like headless chicken. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped in to say hey!
I took Monday as a rest day. Yesterday was a run day, and despite an empty stomach and what I thought was decent deep breathing, I got a horrible side stitch right out of the starting gate. This seems to happen to me randomly about once a month. Anyways, I was trying hard to remember the fix that Cal posted about and must have looked really strange to anyone who saw me wriggle around spastically, trying to remember that stretch. Next time, I won’t forget it (hug your knee to chest on the stitch side).
Anyways, I finally just sucked it up and ran through it. First 5k distance covered (1 min strides/1 min walk) in awhile, so that was something.
Summer is finally here, with warm temps and sun. My mood is already vastly improved!
Nice work on the 195 lb Sumo DL! And you got it up after getting the previous one twice. YAY!
Summertime makes me a little happier, too. I think I’m still programed to look forward to it from when we were kids!
