Tiny Freak Goes Ninja

Thanks guys. I did a really light squat training yesterday (hammie was sore, plus race is upcoming) and then a super-easy 2 mile run today. Tomorrow is a Military Press day, so I’m resting up my lower body from now until Sunday.

My ARTist helped me out with the hammie situation this afternoon, so it feels better. I’m not worried about it for my race on Sunday.

You’re getting good at those rollouts, little lady. I’m inspired to do some during training tomorrow.

And good luck with the race!

RACE ON SUNDAY RACE ON SUNDAY!

Its just like hella exciting!

I’m stoked for you… you gonna kill it!

So regarding our ribs… well I think mine may actually be kinda deformed but I have always loved their hunormity… make the waist look even smaller and a nice big roomy cage to keep mah insides safe LOL.

ohhh kill it!

Hi! Hope you have a great race this weekend!

824 is a great time

tear it up this weekend!!

I remembered this and had to share. They played this at the start of my very first race, and it gets me going now every time I hear it. Baby you were born to run!

Good luck with the race! You’re going to be awesome.

Thanks you guys for the 5K encouragement. I’m excited for tomorrow! Its supposed to be cold…brr…

I had a reasonably good MP day yesterday, getting up 63.6# for 1 on my 5/3/1 day, but there was no way I could get two. 65 lbs. is my one rep max.

On the BBB volume, I FINALLY got up the first last rep of the 5 x 10. Two weeks running, on the last rep I got to 9 and needed a rest before getting up 10. Last night I goterdone.

And the best news, I did 29 chinups (7/6/6/5/5) which is one more than last week. Apparently my big jump in reps last week (4!) was not due to weighing a little bit light, cause I weighed a normal amount yesterday and did it again. YAY!

Awesome, Kimba. I can’t imagine doing 29 chins. I’m lucky if I can get two.

Jingle all the way to the finish line!!

Run Kimba, run!!

And great work on the chins!

Kimba: Ah shit! Probably too late to wish you luck. But, I woke up thinking about you today. Hope the run went well. Just remember clipping is not allowed.

Nice progress on the chins!

Waiting to hear how much you killed it.

I’m back from the Jingle Bell Run 5K! My watch says I did the race in 26:42. If the official results come out like that, I’d be happy. Anything starting with a “26” was my goal, so hopefully I’ve achieved that.

Going from running all alone to running with close to 5000 other people was fun and exasperating all at once. We were packed into the starting corral like little sardines and I could only manage a slow jog over the start line. I spent the first 2 miles darting and weaving and passing other runners and the rest of the time trying not to run into anyone.

And, Nadia – I TOTALLY CLIPPED PEOPLE. Seriously if you are slow and running four abreast with your slow friends, then I am going to blow by you in the tiniest little space opening that you can conceive of. I’m small and feisty and have pointy elbows.

Then there was a clusterfuck at the finish line, with folks slowing to a walk BEFORE crossing the line. WTF?

It was really crucial to be able to hang out pre-race at the beautiful home of our friends which was located mere steps from the start line. A warm place to be, a clean bathroom for the pre-race pee – it was awesome.

Although it was sunny, the temperature did not go above 25 degrees F (-4 C) or so the entire race. I was warm while running, but it was sure cold waiting to start. My delicate, princess-like nose and lungs did not enjoy the suddenly-cold air (this was by far the coldest day so far) and now I’m sneezy/stuffy/runny nose girl. Last winter I learned to run with a ski mask on below 32 F but damned if I was going to run this race in a ski mask.

My favorite part of the race was the drunk Santa cheering on the runners from in front of a liquor store. Runner up was the four guys running the race in one giant reindeer costume. My holiday is officially cheered.

Thanks for all the support for my first ever race. I had fun, and I’ll definitely race again. And, that one of my 2011 goals ticked off the list!

sounds like your time would have been even faster without all that cluster!!

Congrats and glad you had FUN!!!

Awesome job! I can only dream of times like that despite having raced a fair bit over the past few years. I’ve stamina, but I’m basically a donkey, not a racehorse.

I wouldn’t enjoy running in temps like that (thanks for the convert, btw…). It makes my eyes and nose stream. I bet you had to dodge a few snot rockets on the way around, no? Anyway, congratulations on a great time in your first ever race - you’re clearly built for running and I expect you’ll continue to post awesome times over the next year.

Great run Kimba! Woot, Woot!

way to go kimba! lol’n at the reindeer suit guys. we need a pic!

Betty, I did have fun! I’ll definitely be racing again. Maybe not a winter race though. Brrrr.

Cal, I wouldn’t have noticed the snot rockets whilst running…too busy negotiating traffic. But my nose is running nonstop now: oh cold-induced rhinitis, how I hate you!

Nadia, thanks for the woots! You helped me enormously in my road to get here.

deja, I wish I had a picture! I was not, however, in the mood for picture-taking today. Here is a video from the race a couple of years ago of the reindeer…it looked the same this year:

Official race results: 26:46 net time, 8:37 min/mile pace, and placed 32 out of 398 in my age group. I’m happy!
